Odishi mrudang (often called as mardala / madala in Odisha) is the main vadya (percussion instrument) played in odishi classical music and dance. Like in hindustani and karnataki classical tabla and southindian mridangam used respectively. Odishi music got classical status very late but, it has its own style and way of playing. It is different than hindustani and karnataki. Mostly the style of playing odishi is very old, folk style , best suitable for playing traditional, bhajans, kirtans etc. Simple and natural instrument, no much customization like other state pakhawajs, mrudangams etc.
Sameer Keeran The Odissi Mrudanga is different. Don’t confuse. Mardala is never called that. And you are confusing the two instruments. The Mardala has a very sophisticated technique that is as classical as any other.
@@pattaprateek Oh Is it, than fine. Please make a video on difference between mridang and mardala of Odisha. And making of these percussion instruments and it's appearances.I think Khola is different which often called as mridung used for naam kirtan. Thanks.
