This could've been a one second video just saying "they haven't"
How would that help the players and people learning bball?
carnstar chill it was a joke
true true :)
-finally- an analyst who analyzes the delly play accurately. I'm so tired of people trying to say delly intentionally tried to go for Horford's legs. I don't care how dirty you think Delly is, that play was Horford's fault, and it was absolutely foolish.
Actually everybody is saying that. Which is wrong. Horford just fell on him. Lost his balance and fell. He did not hit him or anything.
lone wolf he very, very clearly throws an elbw.
lone wolf Come on, rewatch the play, he has time to stop. Raise up. Shift his weight from falling backwards to into Dellavadova. And swing an elbow at him. No "fell on him" about it
Da Bro Especially some say that Delly pushed off onto Horford's leg when you can clearly see that he did that in order to avoid stepping on or tripping over Carroll.
lone wolf ruclips.net/video/LOqrROw0eQk/видео.html Horford didn't just fall on him,you can even see him cocking his arm back for god sakes.
"How The Hawks Have Defended LeBron James"
Ineffectively lol
dako91196 yea sense he started 0-10
Most of those 10 missed shots came from missed easy layups from lebron getting the offensive rebound.
Watching that game was pretty hard as a Hawks fan, I knew they were playing pretty bad on both ends, but after watching this video...
More worried about the Hawk's decisions in the upcoming draft and offseason. They need to upgrade to a BIG who fits their needs, and I'm liking Myles Turner right now. Not sure who's available in FA though.
***** I was telling Hawks fans before the middle of the regular season that the team has potential holes coming into the playoffs. And thankfully its the Cavs who came around to help prove my point. They have no legit Lebron defender, not that it isn't a huge deal but you still want that 1 guy to give Lebron a hard time and giving help defense when needed. The other problem is they don't have a high impact player who can take over for short stretches offensively when the Hawks offense gets in a funk. And its evident in the playoffs when Korver is getting all the attention and you want him to get going.
FA is going to be weird for them. Carroll/Millsap certainly have played themselves to new contracts so keeping them will be expensive. But ultimately they need a strong addition to put them over a matchup like the Cavs in the next few years.
I dont know how the hawks won 60 games with no body in the paint. Al horford is a real disappointment right now on defense and has been all series.
Honestly I really like this channel. I always love the information you provided and how in-depth the stats are that you use
I've never heard Thompson to be known for his post D. Never.
Tristan isn't known as a post defender. He's very good at picking up the ballhandler on a pick n roll and scrappy as fuck but he has never been some incredible defensive presence in the post. He's not that much bigger than Bron, and i'd be very surprised if he was stronger.
blommen He's actually one of the better post defenders in the league, but even good defenders make mistakes
Not really, he was never upper echelon in the post. I've followed him all his years in the NBA and that simply isn't where his forté lies. He has improved a lot this post season and did very well on Milsap, but to say that he is famous for his post defense is a falacy.
blommen I too was wondering where coach Nick got this from. Also, putting an emphasis on how he's MUCH bigger than Millsap is spurious. They both are undersized big men, both compensating height by wingspan. Millsap is also like 30 pounds heavier.
0:54 "Lebrons Jame" lol
Coach, Tristan Thompson has never been know for his post defence. Not sure where you got that from. hes not terrible but hes better on the pick and roll than post D.
I like how the thumbnail has Lebron on the ground with his head down like the Hawks owned him when in reality the Cavs swept the Hawks and Lebron averaged 30, 11 and 9 in the series.
Coach, you are usually spot on with things, but TT is NOT known for his post D. He's done well this series but it's his ability to defend the pick and role that earned him the spot after Game1 vs the Bulls.
Coach, you mixed up the Cavs and Hawks again at 11:39ish...
The Deli horford play was a completely blown call. Deli dives on horfords legs and then moves his head into horfords elbow and a flagrant 2 foul Called on horford.
Coach I made an account for the tournament but I can't vote for you. How can I fix that?
I hate when NBA teams switch on defense too easily. The Cavs and Rockets do it a little bit too much which has led to Teague and especially Curry killing slower big men on the switch. What happened to battling over the screen while the big man provides help until the defender can get back into guarding position?
Shooters like Steph Curry and Athletes like Westbrook happened.
SanAntoBalla Yeah but here they switch on Teague's pick and rolls not Curry or Westbrook's.
PHUCK YU switching basically forces the opponent to play one on one basketball. that really took passing out of the game for the hawks. that's also part of the reason why bulls offense was so stagnant at times. of course the problem is curry can still burn you one on one after a switch
PHUCK YU A lot of stat guys have been advocating switching on PnR for a while. Numbers have shown that switching typically makes the play less effective.
Golden State & Milwaukee are two teams who switch PnR the most and they are #1 and #2 in defense during the regular season.
7:58 it's what referees do sometimes, they actually notice that they made a mistake by not calling a foul and try to make amends for it on the next posession.
Coach how do you think this series would have turned out if sefolosha had played as well as kover? I feel like sefolosha was there best defender and since he's been injured the hawks have been on the decline.
The Hawks gave this game away. Jeff Teague for some unknown reason decided to wait until 5 seconds left to attack. Leaving a pull up 3 as his only shot. I'd have no problem with Curry shooting this but Teague is not a good outside shooter, he should of attacked the basket smh
It just really pisses me off to see a guy like LBJ who when motivated is the best on ball defender in the league, just play so damn lazy on defense. It get so angry watching Cavs games because LBJ goes for long stretches in games where he doesn't even try on defense.
Brandon Standifer It's the James' Habit... No D Allowed.
Brandon Standifer I wonder if its to conserve energy. I mean he has to do it all for the cavs now that Kyrie was out and Love.
Ehhh I don't believe in that "conserve" energy stuff. Guys like Jordan and Zeke and Larry and Jerry West played their ass off at both ends of the court consistently. LBJ is a better athlete than all of those guys so I don't buy it
Brandon Standifer Don't worry he is saving it for the Finals. He will go all out in the Finals there is no way he will lose two years in a row or else he will be humiliated.
Kawhi MJ Leonard "saving" shit for the finals is exactly how u fuck up lol. Plus what exactly is he saving? Dude has been puttin crazy numbers as it is...giving a lot of effort just to put up these crazy statlines. I mean, he did have over 30 field goal attempts, almost 20 rebounds, and ran point most of the game. There's absolutely no way u can do all that without exerting large amounts of energy
I love the breakdowns it just seems that coach nick is a LeBron hater. Wish it was a different channel that did breakdowns like these to get a more unbiased opinion... Other than that good job especially on the deli "dirty" play
I understand it shouldve been a flagrant 2 if he hit him on the head but he barely brushed the shoulder
Nathan Wood he hit him on the side
Jake Tulchinsky and jr smith on kent bazemore
Bierce88 The body of Al clearly hits Delly's head
Once LeBron developed a post game he became virtually unstoppable and he proved it in this series. He posted up about 8 times a game and averaged 30pts 11reb 9ast in a 4 game sweep against the 60 win hawks with no Love and an injured Kyrie shows his growth as a player. That boy is a problem now!
Yup, the 2011 Finals debacle changed him for the better.
Hi coach, I can;t access your channel
L. James: 37 points, 18 rebounds, 13 assists
Good lord
They said the Hawks are the East-Spurs, not disrespecting, but neither paul millsap nor al horford is capable of playing defense at the level of Tim Duncan. And Jeff Teague is no where as mature as Tony Parker was in the past few years, Jeff's finishing ability lefts a lot to improve. Hawks do not have Manu as well, not a single bench player on the Hawks team can really give you fire power offensively. They have the system, but not the talent yet.
Wow Teague almost ran away from the ball on the last possession. That's not a star move.
ALWAYS GRAB THE BALL WHEN YOU CAN!
Delly should get MVP for taking out Horford AND Korver.
Coach Nick commented on Bazemore doing a weak hedge on LeBron. On that note I would like to know how come players don't high hedge anymore? I hardly ever see it. The big almost always plays back and allows the mid range jumper. I don't get how this is good defense
Coach Aaron J Most teams have moved to ICE'ing the PnR primarily b/c hedging with your big (especially if he's slow) either allows the PG into the lane or gets a switch and an iso of big on small. It just makes sense to force the ball handler away from screen and drop down your big. Also, SO MANY times I see with hedging these days, that the big and small defenders end up screening each other!
I havent noticed too much ICEing on the pick and roll but maybe i haven't been paying attention. I do notice that the big almost always drops back which gives the point guard wide open looks. Sometimes the Big will try to contest which forces help to come which allows shooters open looks. I see it a lot even with good defensive teams like the Spurs. On game 1 I will look for ICEing
Coach Aaron J Long 2 are some of the worst shots in basketball so defenses try to encourage them.
Few PnR ball handlers can hit them off the bounce with a guard trailing over the screen. Likewise, there are very few bigs who can hit them at a high enough rate when the opposing big drops.
This is why players like Steph Curry, Tony Parker, LaMarcus Aldridge, and Dirk Nowtiski really bend defenses because they are really good at the shots typically defenses try to encourage.
why is your team the only one that shows ineligible?
Coach, if the Cavs do indeed end up playing the Warriors in the NBA Finals, do you think the Warriors team defense can shut down LeBron? And do you think the Cavs defense can handle Curry and company?
And the brooms are out in Cleveland for game 4. No hope, no prayer and no answer. The Hawks were only as good as their regular season record showed.
Coach when was the last time a Coach of the Year got swept?
This series is over. The Hawks are simply outclassed by the Cav's superior athletes.
Coach Nick has 1million subs. Im just gonna say it. Hes close enough and very popular obviously. But being strictly NBA stunts his growth. Maybe do college games nick?
scott took 3 bad shots at the end of the game(4th quarter).. : 2 threes and the drive to the hoop where he got block.. that pissed me off ; it probably cost the hawks the game.
"So there you have it sports fans, I'm a gigantic tool!"
Wait, what hawks?
So many mistakes. Refs, Cavs, Hawks,
Hawks defended LeBron James???When??Lol
The hawks should've fouled Lebron on the last cavs possession in OT with Lebron shooting 70% from the line I'd take that gamble
Very poor clock management and poor decisions down the stretch by the Hawks in late 4th quarter.
jerseys, jerseys, jerseys - it's all about who sells the most jerseys: You cannot allow the Hawks to get through and have your cash-machine LeBron be left out of the finals.
Still amazed how close this game actually was without some of their best players: Does this speak for the Hawks team-chemistry, or against a Cleveland-team that is struggling to close out?!
Stefan Frank it seems close but considering a superstar like Lebron's value in close games and his ability to take over in tight game situations, you'd bet on him over the Hawks whose been up and down offensively.
Hawk coaches should watch your videos to get some tips lol :3
Is it fair to say the Hawks blew this game? They did alot better than the previous 2 so you can commend them for their efforts and heart to battle (especially without Korver and Horford) but I mean, they had some great chances to bury this game as shown here.
maybe since bogut shoved howard before.
2:12 holy travel batman!!
wasnt 2:16 a huge travel?
There are so many bad calls in basketball. In comparison to soccer at least.
Mees Leering football has like four rules (which makes it enjoyable in its way). And there are tons of bad calls, any of which can ruin the game (get a penalty, a hand or an offside wrong).
Mees Leering I think there will always be skeezy officiating when it comes down to high pressure games. Sometimes you want to things play it out but the finicky thing about refs is each one is charged with their own responsibility to call things according to how they saw it. And sometimes they don't get the best look on a play but still call the play the way it is. And of course the flagrant system IMO which was brought up on commentary with Van Gundy is really sketchy as its the central league office that decides it after review. When they are much more blind on the context of what is happening than the people who are live in those actual games.
Nico P Well I strongly disagree about the four rules, there are quite a lot actually (offside etc.). I know there are bad calls in football as well but it seems like every game in basketball there is a crucial bad call.
BludAardvark true
Mees Leering 3/5/8/24 seconds violations, backcourt violations, block/charge dilemma, footwork violations, goaltending, basket interference.... In football : is there an offside, did the guy touched the ball with the hand, did the defender aimed for the ball or not, and that's pretty much it. Basketball is just much more complex to officiate. And a crucial bad call in football is way more harmful than in basketball (getting a penalty, a hand or an offside wrong, and you're giving the game to a team on a platter).
0:53 "Lebrons Jame"
You cant guard lebron. He is simply the greatest basketball player of all time.MJ bow down to the King
shutup he ain't even better than the black mamba
Lmao, I can't believe you can say that with a straight face haha
Haha nice joke dude.
Ain't even better than Kobe Bean
BLACKSLASHER21 Lebron is a more efficient scorer, better passer, and better rebounder than Kobe
the Hawks made some bad bad decisions down the stretch. they really fucked up
The Award for the most dramatic screen play goes to Lebron James!!!! I bet that Thumbnail already is a poster on his fucking wall... Talk about staged.
So may misscalled fauls, so many travels that were not called. Besides the unlucky hawks everything else was a setup.
He did not throw an elbow he held it up that should have been a flagrant 1 ive watched that play about 50 times now and it still infuriates me worst call ever....
Bierce88 To match the Dwight Howard elbow on Bogut in game 4 being called a Flagrant 1 which clearly is closer to a Flagrant 2.
BludAardvark Bierce88 How easily bias clouds logic. Dwight attempted to elbow a standing Bogut, but ended up lightly backhanding him with an open hand. Horford dropped a loaded elbow and landed it with his full weight on a defenseless Dellavedova on the ground. There's your difference you biased simpletons.
modetallah Dropped a loaded elbow? As if you talked to Horford and for the record got that he intended to literally lay the SMACK DOWN on Delladova and not due to the awkward situation he was forced in, considering Delly's propensity to get in the mix with guys bigger than he is?
Meanwhile Dwight does have a history for playing patty cakes at the wrong time and being spotted being the one drawing the physical contact last at the wrong angle. So I dunno where the bias is or your knee jerk defense reaction is at. So the line isn't exactly as black and white as you the armchair referee would be led to believe.
BludAardvark I just needed to let your puny brain know of it's own failures, since it clearly can't comprehend the most basic of situations. Thanks for looking out over my health, but I have a very healthy diet. Don't count on it bud. Glad you got some of my work memorized. Are you a fan or something?
modetallah Hey man, I can't help seeing your upvoted comments regarding your nagging complaints of inane shit. I guess its a product of your own pitiful celebrity status. But since you wanted to know so badly...
UNO!!!!!!!!!!!
You look tired tho
Delly is a dirty player he did the same thing to Taj Gibson and Taj got a flagrant just like horford and delly injured Kyle korver by rolling on korver's ankles
