I have no idea where you see the rolex homage thing. The case shape is no way near to a submariner. The crown is different. It features a day date rather than a date complication. The hands and indices are different. IMHO its pretty stupid to say its a submariner homage because it has a 3o clock day date?
exactly.... i don't see the sub resemblance, more of a seiko diver homage
As an owner of both, you couldn't be more correct.
Erdi - Don't forget this watch is under $300; ideal for everyday use, even if it does not pass Rolex comparison test.
Sorry a correction I spoke too soon: 42 mm automatic in my opinion is too big, heavy and clumsy for everyday use. I think a Heuer 150.501 would be perfect for someone that wanted a throw away replica.
He's stupidly biased by brands. Hence why I've unsubbed. He doesn't really nitpick when it's the brands he likes.
Wow! Orient is becoming what Seiko used to be.
If they would listen to the watch community and fix the one or two tiny issues with each watch design they could overtake Seiko some day.
Well since they’re owned by them that’s not a far stretch lol
I’m an Orient fan boy.
Drill hasn’t changed in twenty years, what exactly do you mean.
Spell check changed Seiko to drill
I have the Kamasu in their deep red, almost maroon color. Very lovely.
I have the blues one - it is great...
I have the red dial as well. Great purchase.
I have it in the red as well. Gets way more wrist time than it should based on my collection but I love it!
@@jimlittle5769 I replaced the bracelet with one from StrapCodes. A little more hefty in terms of weight but good purchase imo
@@protoman2260 awesome...but we agree, the bracelet from Orient is the 'weak link'? ;-)
The black dial Kamasu is so handsome!
Also, it won an episode of Lume Wars on JOMW...
I think affordable watches are the best and Orient does such a great job.
Ofcourse. Watches are tools, even when used just for a desk diving they get scratched. Plus, service costs are also different and funny enough service for high end watches is often necessary.
With few exception spending on a watch over 1000 $ isn't that smart. Unless one has really big bank account.
Affordable is such a relative word
I have the green dialed one for around 2 years now. The green is actually more towards teal but it only so visible when exposed to bright light. When it isn't, it looks black from afar.
I like the duality nature of it and still the best watch in my collection with more than 20 different straps for me to choose (20 is a lot I know).
Hands down. I own the red dial Kamasu and it’s one of the best watches in my collection, punching well above its weight.
Kyle.....agree 100% I've got the Teal dial version and for the money, it's an awesome time piece !
That red dial truly is stunning, and a huge reason I'm tempted at getting one.
I have the red dial myself. The red that Orient used in that dial is as stunning or more than some red dials 10x its price.
It really looks beautiful.
I’ve tried so hard to downsize, but can never seem to be able to release that red BEAUTY 👌
My first watch! I really love it but can’t compare it against any other entry level divers. 100% worth the money no doubt.
The first "dive watch" in my collection was a blue faced Orient Ray II. I love it... great looking watch, still works flawlessly and more comfortable than two of my other watches that cost 5X the price.
Love wearing my blue Kamasu! Only complaint is that the bracelet scuffed up really quick but the dial and hands are gorgeous. Sapphire crystal is what sold me on this one over the other Orient divers
We have the same watch and problem.
If the Kamasu was the only watch I owned I would be happy to wear it every day. I bought the green dial version, but this black dial is super sweet!
I really love my blue Kamasu and I wear it all the time. I never thought that such an inexpensive watch could become one of my favorite pieces in my collection.
#Metoo 😁😆
Hi, its automatic?
I love this piece with the green dial and a strap code bracelet. Definitely my new favorite diver.
Oh, also I would argue that the date window does go with the rest of the dial quite nicely. It's got the metal frame to match the indices and the white background too. If you look at it and squint it looks just like the other hour markers, just a little bigger.
Good point. But it only looks like 6:00 & 9:00. The off-numbers are trapezoids!
Age means I don't need to squint and I had noticed the same effect, it blends in nicely.
I am a proud owner of the amazingly beautiful green dial Kamasu. Paid under $220 for it. Something tells me that if the Kamasu were to be discontinued, it's value would skyrocket quickly above the famed SKX.
100% agree with you
Sure
What website did you buy it from ? Is it safer to buy from the orient website ?
@@BeenDeliveredToday Yes where do you buy one. They aren't avaible in the normal places.
Same here! I love mine!
My daily wear, super robust, very accurate, sooo comfortable and always gets compliments on it’s looks, like all the time.
I have had the red Kamasu for several months now. I fell in love with the beautiful, rich dial color and as you noted, the specs are amazing, especially at the price. I totally agree about the clasp, but haven't found it interferes with my enjoyment or the large amount of wrist time this watch gets. Between this and my blue Ray II, I think Orient really has the low price end of the diver market well covered.
Hey T3, we've had a Seiko company product or two in our house with a similar jiggly clasp. We've been replacing just the clasp, not the whole bracelet. We usually put one with a ratcheting extension so it's more comfortable in the heat and humidity. Just a thought for someone that might like the bracelet but not the clasp.
Ayyyyy there it is!!! Thank you for this review.
Thanks for furnishing it for the review!
In which Jory does his best Watchfinder impression
I have six different Orient watches. When it comes to giving you a whole lot of watch with the build quality to match & keeping the price 'affordable' you can't really beat Orient.
Have an orange dial Orient Ray that I have been wearing for almost 3 years now. Just ordered an Orient Star to see how much difference it is as I just love the value for money that Orient provides.
I think my next purchase may be an Orient.
I have a Ray II blue dial. It is a very similar model. After seeing this review I have checked the dial with a magnifying lens and...it is alright! No visible defects! When I was a teenager, my uncle gave an Orient to each nephew. It resisted everything for many years. Never heard about Orient since then. Thought the brand was over. Recently I discovered that Orient was still in business and the Ray II model reminded me of my old Orient...but in blue. I am looking at it right now! Great watch. I recommend it.
The orient DOES use lumabright.
The difference in brightness comes from the thickness and wideness of its application.
In terms of longevity: others tested this already and came to the conclusion that they are the same even though surprisingly kamasus hands do tend to shine a bit longer than other Seiko's or even their own indices.
I got the blue one, it wears perfectly on a black rubber/silicone strap, just a great watch for all the summer and I updress it on a shark-mesh! Absolute beast of a watch for the price. Would recommend 11 times out of 10!
Just placed an order for one and a black rubber strap. I’m excited!
Planning to get one of this for my dad on his 50th birthday next year, he's not much of a watch fan but hope he likes it.
Ryan Lionel - That is very admirable of you to buy your dad a nice watch. You have no idea what this means to dads even if they do not show it right away. For several years I have been giving Citizen eco drives as gifts; many choices and man have they been well received.
Enjoyed the review. I’ve had mine for three weeks now. Mine keeps extraordinary time (consistently about + 6 seconds per day.). I did get a Super O Strapcode bracelet. My everyday watch.
Hi, its automatic?
I've got the blue one. Accuracy rivals that of my Hamiltons. And the dial POPS in the sun light.
Great video! Looking at the Kamasu vs the Orient King Diver reissue. Any thoughts on that?
This watch is a beast. It’s the ultimate tool watch. The lume also lasts all night, I never have an issue reading the time during the night.
It also offers something the Submariner does not - a day complication.
I bought a Strapcode Oyster-style bracelet which is perfect for it.
12+ seconds a day, but it’s not an issue as I use it for weekends and holidays. My Grand Seiko Spring Drive GMT is my “business/work watch”.
You should have a T3 seal of approval icon/emoji/image made and splash it on the vids when a watch feature gets the seal
Solid review! I enjoyed watching this
Second watch after a seiko sarb033
Absolutely love the kamasu!
Everything is great about the watch
Great intro 👏. We've all been wondering about this watch lol
I bought the blue dial version, loving it!
WHAT $280?? Don’t know where you got that price range from but I got my Green Kamasu for $200, and I think it’s still around that price on Amazon & Jomashop

@@thetimeteller NO WAY! I would find the Kamasus cheaper on Amazon, but thanks for replying 😆😅 And Thank you sooo much for reviewing one of my favorite watch🙏🙏🙏
That's probably list price. I agree it typically sells in the $200-235 range. Grey market closer to $200. AD (including Amazon) closer to the $235 if you care about the manufacturer's warranty.

On Amazon they go from 198-240. The red one jumps alot between 240-290$
Got my Kamasu 3 months ago, and I am very happy with it so far. My everyday watch.
Hi, its automatic?
Orient really bring originality and amazing value for money. I've been loving my Kanno.
Thanks for confirming that this is a good diver watch. I've been procrastinating about the getting the Orient Kamasu languishing at the local antique shop, but now I'm confident I'll buy it. Hopefully it's still there.
I'm still a big proponent of the Orient Raven Ray II, a little smaller (40mm) and mineral crystal but, apart from that, same specs and PVD! Mine has hold up very nice going on for two years, and swimming in two oceans, already. Incredible for the price bracket and massively underappreciated. I have my eyes on the blue-bezel Kanno or the Bronze diver next.
In my little collection still don't have a diver watch, I would like some advice, should I get an orient kamasu or an orient star? Thank u
That tortino pizza rolls joke came out of no where lol. Such a good watch.
I bet more many more people use entry level divers to time pizza than diving air tanks out in the real world.
@@robc8468 I use the microwave timer. But I can relate when I park in Los Angeles and it's only a 2 hour free parking lot.
For those of us to whom $300 is a sum that isn't spent lightly, Orient is a powerhouse brand! Almost ALL of their models are a tremendous value, in my opinion. All things considered, (specs, design, brand legitimacy, overall quality...) one might say there are other "entry level" divers that are in the same league with the Kamasu, but I can't think of any that are clearly superior. And that red dial model? FIRE BABY!
Just ordered the red dial Kamasu. Can't wait, the pictures look good but I bet it's fire when it's on your wrist.
They're not "a tremendous value", they're "tremendous value". Something can't be "a value" - it's just "value". Not sure why so many Americans get this wrong nowadays.
@@wintermute8315 settle down there sparky. Sometimes I even say "ain't."
Are those dust specks common on kamasus? Just noticed a few on my blue kamasu and i'm wondering if I should exchange it or just live with it if its common
I've had this watch for about 6 months and concur with your takes. I was worried it would feel too big on my 6.75" wrist but that sensible lug to lug wears smaller than you'd expect.
My only other comment is I suspect the power reserve isn't quite hitting the advertised number, but nothing terrible.
I like the Kamasu so much I own two of them. One in green and one in red.
How’s the green? Love my red, would also like the green. Both shades are quite remarkable for the price.
Thinking about getting the black along with my red. 🤔
I have the red an upgraded to the strapcode jubilee bracelet and it takes the watch to another level
@@kylenicholas6362 I’ll give you some feedback on the green. Very dark. Most will think it’s black. But I love it. It’s different. In your car and near a window you’ll get flashes of it. It’s like it has a bit of a secret but fits in wherever you put it.
Don't forget the blue!, Mine is so dark indoors and at night that the wife hasn't noticed the switch from SKX007 I made maybe three weeks ago. But out in the sun, oh how that azure flash gives me a cheap thrill.
I want the red one now.
Looking forward for a good discount on a blue dial Kamasu. It will take the place of dressy-diver in my collection. Paired with an Strapcode oyster with the middle link polished, I think it will look gorgeous.
I just bought this beautiful watch, but i had a question. Is the glass sapphire? I just bought it and i read on internet that real sapphire glasses were a little bit purple under the sun, mine isn't at all.
Is the bezel a 60 or 120 click bezel? From all the reviews I've seen and read it's supposed to be a 120 click uni-directional bezel, but mine only has 60 clicks.
What about durability. Orient's F6922(kamasu) movement or seiko's 4r36 movement(seiko 5 sports) ? Which one lasts longer
I got the gilded version -black and gold. So far happy with it a lot - 8 months of ownership.
Own the black, red and teal versions. Yes, they are so good. Put Strapcode bracelets on them and now they are pretty perfect. Use to wear them more often than my Monta or Christopher Wards, Oris', Seikos, etc... KEEPERS!
I love my red dial Kamasu. Accurate, beautiful, and a strap monster. I have had it on several straps and it looks great. I have gone back to the original bracelet for the summer because it feels nice an cool on my wrist. I keep looking at the teal one.....
Well, now with this review, the kamasu is on my wishlist, perfect for me, a small wrist guy
Saving right now to buy the maroon kamasu, one of the best divers in this price range.
I picked mine up after a review by Shane at Relative Time. I got the Red/burgundy and was going to flip it recently after purchasing a HydroConquest. I wore it one last time and decided I couldn't let it go. I put mine in a Jubilee from Strapcode. Transformed the watch completely. She's a keeper. Outstanding value.
Don't forget the AR coating and signed crown. I can't see any imperfections in mine, but then I wear glasses too. The screw-in and winding action of the crown is a bit scratchy but at the price it's a winner.
How many color options does this come in? I’ve seen black, blue, green and red. Is there an orange option by chance?
Bought mine yesterday - can't hardly wait
I bought my green dial Kamasu for just 200 USD a year ago. Then I bought a beautiful oyster bracelet with polished center links from Strapcode (100 USD) which was a perfect match. Looks awesome.
Hi What model is this Seiko which you compered to orient mako 3 lume?
I love the my kamasu, lovely dial, reliable and decent movement and bracelet. But as with this one it had specs under the glass and on the hand set and there was also a beat error. for the price its still acceptable IMO.. That said, I'm fairly used to modding from taking a few watches apart and making a few crap aliexpress parts watches. So i dusted it tiressly (seriously took ages cause of OCD) and fixed the beat error (which was easier than expected). aand yeah.. That's my experience with it. Jory covers the rest lol
A fantastic value piece. A big hitter for the money. I have the blue dial and love it - a great intro to the world of mechanical watches.
I just got this watch and it's everything you said it is! Nice one
I just received my kamasu Friday. Black, silicone band. I set it to NISC time gained 75 secs in 48 hours. Lovely watch comfortable to wear. On the back along with the other expected info it was stamped EPSON. I'm not sure I see another Orient in my future. Btw, the black finish Orient should include a polishing cloth. But with this spec sheet whadya want for 2bills?
I have the Kamasu in red/maroon. It is a great watch, can’t say enough good things about. I have the same issue with the clasp. I also have the Mako USA II in both blue and white. Even though very similar, I prefer the Mako’s because of bracelet, the lume is slightly better and drilled lugs. Is it better than the SKX? That’s a difficult call. I say it boils down to personal preference.
I received my Kamasu (RA-AA0004E19B) last week. I'm loving it. I too am going to replace the bracelet with a sailcloth strap. Orient has become my favorite (budget) watch maker since I own several. My Kanno (RA-AA0011B19A) has a competitor for wrist time. Maybe I'll wear both.
Just got mine for $55. Was on sale, mispriced in the first place, pretty good deal. I'm suprised and super satisfied.
I rock my black dial Kamasu on a Strapcode super j. Louis bracelet! 😎👌
It's a gorgeous, rugged little daily driver!
Really really good watch. Besides the amazing finishing and the sapphire crystal, the accuracy impressed me the most. For me it goes around 5 seconds +/- per Week which is fantastic! For that price you also can look away from the stiff crown
I love mine! I bought a Strapcode bracelet and it really elevates the watch.
I have been seeing the dial "numbers" and hands(so the spots where there is lume) looked more white on some pictures, like in this video or more yellowish in others(which I dont really like). And I cant find shop I can go look at the watch irl. Compared to lets say the seiko 5 sports, that white color seems more clean white-white. But other than that I really like the kamasu. Does anyone have any experience about this? would be appreciated :)
Just bought the red version for $200 at Joma. Incredible deal for this watch. Wasn't sure about the aluminum bezel at first but now I love it. Put it on a straight end Strapcode oyster and it looks like a $1000 watch. Gives off a vintage vibe. Yes it's a 42mm but lug to lug is pretty short so it still fits my 6.875 in wrist
At that degree of precision, the figure must change with each heart beat.
This video has such a captivating intro lol I just had to watch the whole thing
I hesitated to get an SKX for yrs, I’ve learned my lesson and finally ordered one of these before they increase in price
It’s a great spec monster. I have the burgundy dial and love it. I think it helps you can get it in different colours But agree that clasp feels like the cheapest party. Compared to the skx the orient has hacking, handwind, and sapphire crystal. I
I have a black/gold Kamasu, paired with a Khaki nato/zulu strap and it looks gorgeous.
Great video. One of your best.
Nice watch! Thanks to Samray!
My SARB035 has those little tiny pips pf LumiBrite on it, & they’re still ridiculously bright.
I have the red dial and the green dial. By far my favorite watches in my collection hands down.
It's a great watch and a very good company. I own the Red Dial version and really like it. The Crown is a pain to deal with. The Bracelet is sub par but that was an easy fix for me with a nice black Silicone strap.
One of the best reviews out there. I’m gonna buy one of these Kamasus. Probably with green dial and bezel.
Nice review! Wondering why this level of macro scrutiny is not applied to all watches reviewed. Kamasu still rocks even after having aged from intro. Thank u for sharing your thoughts!
I own several Orients, including a red Kamasu. Following this review I checked my dial for similar flaws that you found and fortunately for me I couldn't see any, so now I'm ultra pleased. My intention when I purchased it was to wear it as a daily banger, the price was right. I also own a Hamilton Khaki Scuba, and of course had to draw comparison. The Hamilton is a sub $1k piece and I have to say the Orient compares favorably. There are clear differences in the elevated finishing of the Hamilton and the movement is nicer. That said, It's pretty much three times the price. I'm glad to own both, but, honestly, if I had purchased the Orient first I may not have purchased THAT Hamilton, the Orient is that nice!
Question Mr Time Teller: Would you rather this than a pagani design/Heimdaller/Steeldive etc from Aliexpress? they all seem to be in a similar price bracket.
I’ve been wearing mine for a year and I love it! It wears like a smaller watch which is nice for my small wrist and has kept time quite well. I wear it nearly every day and the only thing that has been a slight issue is the oem bracelet. I’d recommend getting either a strap code bracelet or a set of fat seiko spring bars and it’s a very durable good looking watch
How would you compare the Orient Triton vs Seiko Turtle? I'm a professional diver.
Great review! I owned the Ray 2 but sold to a mate and purchased the green Kamasu. Can't have too many divers!
i have seen these available from orient on straps. i think i will get that version
Yup, I got it on bracelet and ordered two straps for it right away. Didnt wear it till I got my quick release Barton Straps. Love the watch, but yeah on strap is the way to go.
Funny how this video drops...I ordered and received my red kamasu last week lol
I have seen some specs on the dial for kamasu. Has anyone seen any hairline scratches in the dial under bright light?
Are you going to review the G-Shock GBA-900-1A?
Absolutely a contender. My blue dial Kamasu is one of my favorites.
While a color matched date wheel is smaller, I do enjoy the legibility of having it white.
I bought a Kamasu for myself for Christmas and I've been wearing it since the day I got it out of the mailbox, on 12/6/22. I didn't care for the bracelet that it came on because it isn't tapered. So, I bought one that is tapered. My wrist is 6.75" and this watch fits me quite well. The thing that is most interesting, to me, is the timekeeping accuracy. I check my watch every morning against WWV. When I first put this watch on it was losing 5 seconds per day. After a week or so of 24-hour/day wearing, it was losing 3 seconds per day. I started taking it off and laying it down, face up, overnight and it was gaining back 2 seconds while I slept. In the last few days, it has stopped losing time during the time that I'm wearing it so I've stopped laying it down overnight. Now, I'm back to wearing it 24 hours per day and it hasn't lost or gained any time over the last three days. I know that isn't a really long time for proper observation. But, it is what I have to offer. All in all, I'm quite surprised by the watch and I'm very happy with it. I paid $197 USD, new, from a seller on Amazon.
Got mine in red and a strapcode j for about $300 total. Love it
Just got a blue kamasu and really love it. My only complaint is that the sapphire is very reflective so there's often glare on the face. I'd like to look directly at it to enjoy the beautiful face without needed to angle it to avoid glare. Also, the sapphire is a fingerprint magnet. I like my glass clean! I've never had constantly dirty watch glass before or even thought about it.
The best driver under 500 dollars imo, I own a burgundy dial and I'm loving it, I'm playing with straps as well.
That last sentence could have been worded differently XD
I have the green one. Love first sight. Gorgeous watch.
Love my red Kamasu. It‘s dial is spectacular. Two things could be betterr though: accuracy and the crown. Mine runs at about +15 per day. Not bad, but not very good either. The crown is small and the crown guards are large, so the crown is hard to operate. Other than that the Kamasu is just beautiful and comfortable. Also looks good on small wrists like mine (6 1/4 inches).
