How does Kiva work? What can you use it for? In this video, I'm going to explain everything about this social lending website!
Kiva is a very powerful website that can be used to get a loan to start an entirely new business from scratch (without paying any interest). It's pretty sweet.

Struck me as a very colonialist-perspective review of great platform that lends to all nations. Most of the loans I've participated in are in the US. And it's not about charity to minorities in the US. All are welcome to go through the process.

You should revise this video. Kiva doesn't take interest. But Kiva works with micro-financing companies who do charge varying levels of interest to the borrower. Most of the money KIva supporters donate goes to the micro-finance company and they manage the loan.

More fun than a game of infinite Monopoly(tm) except it has a real-world impact for about the price of a meal at a "nice" restaurant. I'm in.

Do you have the option of not accepting the money after it has been raised? When does the interest start accumulating? Is it actually 0% interest for 36 months? What are the percentage fees and/or fees for the borrower?

Great video! I'm still wondering how they have attracted enough lenders that value helping people over getting a profit. If I was pitched this idea, I would think, that's a nice fantasy, but how would it realistically work.

1 thing I don't understand, is lending on kiva purely philanthropic? If there is literally 0 chance of making even 1 penny of profit and the big selling point is that "most likely" you'll get your original money back, than that shouldn't be called an investment it should be called charity.
