I grew tired of constantly looking for the shops battery tester. That and it seemed like whenever I went to use it the batteries were dead.
I work on a variety of different equipment. Everything from small engines to heavy duty equipment. I work on systems that are 12 and 24 volts. I needed an alternator and starting system tester that can handle both voltages. I decided to order my own from Amazon. What did I buy??? Watch and Find out!
In this video I show you what I bought, how it works, and tell you what I like and give my opinion on what I think would make it better.
If you are unsure of what you are trying to diagnose or repair, please contact a qualified mechanic. There is nothing wrong with asking for help.
Please remember to hammer that like button (thumbs up) and torque that red "subscribe" button.
All opinions and reviews are my own, and I am not being paid by Snap On , Milwaukee Tools or any other tool companies. You will receive an honest opinion from a professional mechanic, with twenty plus years experience who uses the tools daily. Snap on and Milwaukee tools are for use in the transportation industry including: automotive, commercial transport, heavy duty, marine, aviation and railway industries.

Nice demo, Shaner. To the point, simple. And unlike other reviews, you pretty much tested all its features. Great point about ensuring the battery is fully charged so the unit gives it a fair assessment.

Thanks for the great comment. I always charge the battery to 100% and retest it. I don't believe in selling stuff the customer doesn't need.

I just ordered this product and with this review it looks like a great tool to have in a shop environment. It is one of the few tools I've added to my inventory of tools. Thanks for also demonstrating a demo on how this tool works. My coworkers will enjoy having another battery tester in the shop.

Your welcome. I'm more than happy with mine. I tend to reach for it before the shops tester. Let me know what you think once you get it and use it for a while.

@@shanersmechaniclife3164 I used the battery tester at the shop I work at for the first time. I was only able to do a battery state of health test. When it comes to printing out the results I have to open the battery tester and manually tear out the battery test results. I do look forward to using it more but not at the shop because it does not get counted in the company system unlike the shop battery tester that all the technicians in the shop share. I think its a good battery tester overall with other tests that the device can do.

How durable are the clamps and cables? I’ve seen reviews on Amazon saying they are not too good.

I have also used an older OTC battery tester. The topdon is definitely handy with the shorter cables. How about you? What brands have you tried?

voltage is too high remove surface charge what does this means my battery is AGM

    • @shanersmechaniclife3164

The battery voltage is above normal range, probably because it has just been charged. Try starting engine once or twice or turn the headlights on for a minute. It should test after that once voltage is about 12.6 volts (fully charged battery voltage.) Let me know how it works out. Thanks for watching and commenting.

So.... LED lights are actually high speed strobe lights. This is why anything with LED lights, bulbs, etc appear to flash on your camera. Thats because if your camera takes video at 30 fps or 60 fps that means your camera actually takes 30 or 60 photos per second and while your LED light is strobing away, you get shots between strobes. Kinda interesting eh?

@@shanersmechaniclife3164 I’m considering to buy a BT200, did you compare the BT200 with the other testers in the shop? Are the readings the same and correct?
