Worst thing about Luka's knee sprain is that it's gonna heal up to 4 weeks. No point in resting him now. He's either gonna play with it whole playoffs or rest till the end of the season

I know Kyrie’s a good playmaker and shot creator too, but you take the ball out of Luka’s hands and the team gets noticeably worse because:
1: Luka’s harder to defend and slow down. Kyrie is smaller and not the same level of a passer.
2: This means Luka has to play off-ball more. Luka is not that great of an off-ball player and its even worse now that he’s injured. He cant get to spots and screen as well.
If hes not leading the offense AND getting hunted on defense he’s going to be a liability on the court. This mavs team lives and dies by Luka

As a Mavs fan this shit sucks man. Luka had a god tier season, one of the best ive seen from a player. I mean this guy dropped 70+ on 76% shooting just a few months ago. This is the best team he’s had as a Maverick. Only for him to get injured and have the worst stretch Ive ever seen him have RIGHT as the playoffs start. Just unbelievable.
He was so close to MVP now too, everyone was getting on the Mavs train, and all that goodwill is gonna reset and be gone next year because tubby fat boy choked in the playoffs or whatever. And people are gonna say we overhyped him. Just an entire summer of this shit coming up.
I mean, oh well. Thats how it goes. I dont think we were ever winning a chip but this was supposed to be our triumphant comeback after missing the playoffs last year.

The difference with LA is,1.zubac was not gonna do what he did in game one ever again. 2.there was many holes and we all knew James harden was not reliable. 3.shai Jdub and Chet and the okc thunder bench are as reliable as it gets.
Luka’s knee is barely hanging on and its not gonna get any better. He just had 4 days of rest and it still looked terrible.

The exact same thing happened in game 1 of the clippers series. Didn’t show up with passion, and while some did pj, our dawg, was in foul trouble while some of our players still thought it was the clips series where it was a lot more physical which led to calls we weren’t used to.
I’m sorry dude but the Thunder have the second highest PT differential in the league. They are healthy. They are a top 5 offense and defense.
Dallas fumbled through the Clippers without Kawhi, their best player.

Tbf, as a Mavs fan, we were mostly crashing out over Shai free throws in the 1st half when it was basically tied and SGA had 11 out of 13 of his free throws. Whistle was much better and more even in the 2nd half, it was just a Luka disasterclass from then on

OMG THE REFS coming from Mavs fans is hilarious. So the Mavs get back within 1 in the 3rd with the momentum and what happened? Oh ya turnover after turnover happened. The Mavs had 15 or 16 turnovers, were outrebounded, and couldn't even hit 65% of their Free Throws. I'm sure that's the refs too lmao. Luka fans crying over free throws is hilarious. Not to mention the free throw difference at the end was 3.

I always hated the idea of a team being too young but this series is for the luxury of losing the Wolves in 6
Not to diminish too much of what OKC and their defense is doing, but the Pels didnt have Zion in the first round which massively makes their offense worse. The Thunder still have an extremely elite defense but that was a important piece of context missing and why the defensive number are just a little inflated.
This is sad to say, but I think that this playoffs is the final nail in the “2010s superstars carrying their teams” coffin. I don’t think the likes of Bron, Steph, KD and Kawhi can be the undisputed number 1 guy on a championship team anymore. Man 😢😢

It is a byproduct of being young so it’s not completely “luck” per say but the Thunder are able to run a 10 man rotation cuz they are healthy. The comparison to the Knicks, Randle has been out, bojan is now out, and Mitch is now out. So while they might have 9-10 playable guys, it’s down to 7 now cuz burks and sims shouldn’t see the floor
daniel gafford played amazing underrated pickup and tbh pj washington needs to get more shots on offense there were a lot of plays where he was completely wide open in the corner

First off credit to OKC they were the better team and I don't want anything I say to take away from that, but this really just wasn't Dallas' night. OKC took full control of the home court advantage, they were getting all the little 50/50 calls go their way and that put all 5 of the Mavs best defenders in relative foul trouble by HT. PJ & Lively with 3 fouls and Gafford, Green and Jones with 2 each meant the Mavs couldn't attack the OKC offense as hard as they would have liked in the 2nd half. But the biggest reason it was a blowout is Luka is just clearly not right. The Mavs ended up getting through the Clippers by pushing the pace and not letting them get into their defensive sets, but with Luka's movement severely compromised and OKC targeting Kyrie and forcing uncharacteristic turnovers they just weren't able to get to dangerous spots and score as effectively as they needed to. The flood gates opened in the 4th quarter after the Mavs had battled all game to stay in touch but the fitter and therefore better team won. I just hope Luka is able to get back to some of his greatness and at least push the Thunder and make it a good series.
Even if Luka is fully healthy, it will be hard to play defense on this OKC team if that the whistle they'll get every game... I doubt TWolves can play their physical defense against Shai and OKC without having foul troubles at half time.

Yes Luka’s knee is injured but I think a main contributing factor is maxi kleber being injured. He provided floor spacing at the 5 as well as amazing rim defence. I think losing him has really really hurt the mavs on both ends of the court.

This series really comes down to depth in the end. I really don’t see Dallas winning the series cause of this. Luka and Kyrie will need to play godly and drop 40 each to have a chance of winning because of their bench age Luka’s injury.
