He still moved like he had a prosthetic leg at times, he sat for longer in the 1st half than I've ever seen and that's a solid indicator. He usually always plays 18-20 no matter.

I strongly disagree that Luka's moving well. He's still several tiers below what he was late-season defensively and having one game when his 3 went doesn't mean he moved well either - he was in the first then he looked increasingly soggy down the line

No it was a smart gamble from okc they were waiting to see if lively would fold that would’ve forced them to sit their bigs and then big in a rested Chet for those couple of seconds when lively wasn’t on the court the okc offense started to find rhythm Chet even got a couple of offensive rebounds but the gamble didn’t pay off because lively didn’t sit for that long and the mavericks played good defense without him the only reason we’ve never really seen another try this is because maxi kleber to come in as our small ball 5 a very good shooting big

Their biggest issue is SGA forcing it too much. He needs to trust his guys. Chet saw about 2 possessions in the 2nd half that weren’t from him getting the offensive rebound. Dallas bigs don’t leave the paint and you have a good 3 point shooting big man. Idk maybe they should use that once in a while?

Not a Mavs or Thunder fan but I think its just that Luka plays into baiting contact and Dort is very physical. I do think so far Dorts contact has been aggressive but Doncic has it coming with his foul baiting tactics and whining. Honestly I would love to see a Mavs player start rough housing SGA more, then the refs will need to start making more decisions.

This was my thought exactly, I mean do you believe in your top 5 defense or not. I agree so much with this. Not to mention it wasn't working
If it worked it was smart Mavericks average more than 1 point per possession. If lively only made 1 each trip than it was smart. Lively and PJ just beat the Thunder.
It wasn't dumb. It was a tactic that Mark thought would go well. Lively clutched up and made his free throws, so it didn't go as well planned for OKC. However, they threw away two of their possessions, so in hindsight, it technically worked.
SGA needs to stop getting the princess treatment. The amount of physicality that is allowed on him compared to Luka is crazy. Bro is barely getting touched there and he still has the same amount of free throws as Luka, whos being jumped on, kicked, pushed down, elbowed on the face 😭. Both of them are superstars, but if you can bully the fuck out of one of them, you should be able to do the same to the other one.

Officiating can not be so one-sided that it turns a game that should be a 25+ points blowout into a close contest.

Why does nobody talk about the officiating? It was the only reason OKC did not get blown out by 30 today. Lou Dort had 15 fouls and 5 flops and it is just never gets called, meanwhile SGA gets every whistle, despite pushing off with a fully extended arm every possession. @@logicGatekeeper I see it as that for us y’all were literal pushing people to the ground with both hands on there back( thunder players did it twice). we would go up for lobs and Chet would push us in the air. Luka would get hard fouled going to the basket and no call. SGA jumps into lively running beside him foul. Dort litterly ran straight at Derrick and acted like Dereck pushed him and y’all got the foul( you can see Derrick going straight at the basketball while sort goes horizontal straight into Dereck back). One time gafford was going up for a rebound but was getting bear hugged so he couldn’t get it(y’all were just pushing gafford to the floor all game)I generally think there game plan is to hurt Luka.I did see some that I didn’t agree with like when Gifford went up for a dunk and barley got touched and we got the foul.

The only reason that this was not a 30 point blowout was that the game was so absurdly officiated in OKCs favor so much that there is already talk that the NBA should step in and talk to the officials before game 3, as all 3 games have been called so extremely in OKCs favor. How can anybody watch this game and not see that, even if you are the most biased Thunder fan it is obvious that you guys got away with 3 in a row.

One major advantage the Mavs have is that our best Three-n-D guys can do more than just shoot spot up threes. Washington, Exum and Green are excellent ball handlers and can finish at the rim. DJj is as close to “lock-down” as you can get, is beyond athletic and can also finish at the rim. I was not a believer in this front office, but they deserve a lot of credit.

There was something you said on a NotB episode, about how players who are notoriously a “good defender” get away with a lot of calls. I think the example you used was caruso, where there will be times he gets caught reaching or hits someone on a shot and it j wont be called. I feel like this series lu dort has fit that to a tee. Hes constantly either flopping or crashing into dudes and he walks away from every game with only like 2 or 3 fouls because theyll only get called when its like super blatant

PJ, before he came to Dallas, was a great corner 3 shooter but mostly that. He's a bigger guy but wasn't really rebounding or defensive player. His skill set and build fit perfectly for this team, but the big difference for me is his attitude/personality flipped completely. He's aggressive and fights for this team, which makes everyone just as aggressive. This team is special.
I can appreciate nba channels have to put out nba content often, but everyone burying the Thunder as if PJ Washington being your best player was sustainable didn’t make sense to me

Okc wasn’t expected to win anything and I’m a die hard okc fan this is good experience for them which is needed, but this series isn’t over Dallas one win by 4 and okc crushed them game 1 and lost by 9 game 2 so don’t think it’s over
It's not but it's becoming obvious and everyone's starting to call out the officiating for how OKC is allowed to play football while Mavs get called for ticky tack fouls on SGA. I think Silver's gonna speak to the officials and officiating will be much more fair in the next game which isn't good for OKC, otherwise Dort's gonna foul out in 2 quarters lol

@@bmillersince92 Game 1 refs only gave Mavs FT calls when the game is blatantly out of reach. Game 3 Dallas only has more FT attempts because OKC starts intentionally fouling Lively.

Mavs were able to rebound so much better, the mavs also shot much worse, and the okc had 10 blocs (mavs had 2) this shows that even when shooting worse, the mavs are just better
OKCs offense is so ugly to watch. They throw so many passes that are not even close to the target. They struggle to even get a shot up sometimes.

I am always skeptical about teams that conceit rebounding in advance. Rebounding is about the only thing you can reliably control in basketball - turnovers happen, three point shots may stop falling, but you can always hustle and grab that damn ball. Length and effort matter, and we've seen this time and time again in the playoffs - when grown men start playing basketball, kids start looking like the kids they are.
