  • Vaping is popular. And a lot of people assume that if it’s legal, it must not be dangerous. But is this really the case?
When you vape, you inhale that vapour into your body... but what’s actually in it? And what are some of the short-and long-term effects of inhaling those substances? Let’s get into the science of vaping - what we know and what we have yet to learn (lots!)...
If you have any questions or have a subject that you’d like me to discuss, leave a comment below - I’d love to hear from you!

What is The Feed with Dr. G?
“Science provides the knowledge we need to improve our health - but it’s also science’s job to make sure that knowledge is accessible to everyone.” - Dr. Samir Gupta
Nothing matters more than our health. And science is the key to understanding and maximizing our health and wellness. Yet new studies are reported in the news every day, and it seems impossible to keep up and figure out what’s important. At the same time, science is too often presented in a traditional style that’s unnecessarily complex and hard to understand.
As both a doctor and a scientist, my mission is to find fresh approaches to make science clear, transparent, and easy to understand (=obvious!) - for everyone. In our digital world, The Feed is built to keep people engaged and informed around the latest topics and newest science in health and medicine, and to empower them to separate fact from fiction.

If you only talk about the negative points of something, you always have a reason to dismiss the benefits of it. Vaping is 95 % less harmful then normal smoking and can be or is used to give up smoking. Even the hospitals in the UK have a vape shop in their premisises. One point I do agree, is the sale of e-liquids, disposables and vaping gear on the internet. If you wanna vape, get your stuff in a specialized vape store and hope that the staff of the store is fully trained in the concept of vaping.

Best is to do nothing at all.
But the facts are 8 million people die world wide from smoking every year.

@@williamJohanns436 No, they become duel users and become more dependent on nicotine. The harm reduction is a null augment because the data does not support it. It's wishful thinking by drug addicts. I want both of the harms of both delivery package please on top of a worse addiction. No, anyone who is sane would see the problem with that.

I gave up cannabis and tobacco ten years ago and switched to vaping electronic cigarettes, I still vape and my lungs are so much better. My friend who is my age has smoked cigarettes all his life , he now has copd and on two types of inhalers for it , I've seen someone with end of life copd and couldn't move about without gasping for breath , so I think I will stick to vaping.

I vaped 100% PG (0 Nic, no flavors) for a while to see what the hype was about & legit thought that I was going to die from an obscenely high blood pressure & how difficult it was to breathe.
I also vaped 100% VG (0 Nic, no flavors) & wound up with the same exact symptoms, numbness of the nose & throat etc.
    What am I doing wrong?

He must work for the cigarette companies! They got sick from thc cartridges not nicotine and fda approved devices and if you don’t overcharge your device or leave it in the sun you’re ok! Bottom line if you don’t smoke don’t vape but if you do smoke try vaping and see if it can help you quit the habit! I’m allergic to cigarette smoke by the way lol!

Vaping with or without nicotine, is at least 95% less harmful than smoking.
Also, liquid nicotine is not really addictive per se, however it does provide a sensation that many find pleasant.
Making ones own e-liquid with just 3 or 4 ingredients, reduces the risk also.

ALL those people who got EVALI used THC carts that were boggus. Regular nicotine juice vaping from trusted sources did not and have not caused any EVALI. I smoked for 16 years and vaping got me off ciggs for good 7 years ago. Best decision I ever made. I understand there are some risks with vaping but I think it's extremely widely accepted that vaping is WAY less harmful than smoking. So I consider it a win. Plus, smoking is nasty and vaping is awesome! 😉

I gave up chewing tobacco and switched to disposable vapes. After like 6 months of that I can tell a noticeable decrease in lung capacity. I get out of breath just walking up stairs now. I don’t do much cardio but I lift pretty heavy and am pretty fit in that sense. No decrease in performance at the gym besides for getting gassed during longer sets. Probably should stop lol but it does help keep me focused and awake for my job.
