  • In this week's episode, Master Sushi Chef shows you how easy it is to make Japanese Katsu Curry at home. Sure you'll need to find the curry at an Asian market but soon after that, you're on the way in making the best tasting curry dish ever.
    This dish incorporates making the curry first and then making some pork katsu and then combining the two, so it's a bit long in steps but the end result will be all so worth it.
    Enjoy this dish and let us know how yours came out!

      Oh It's so good! I always by golden curry blocks at hmart, I like it WAY better than the vermont one, that one tasted a bit sweet to me, I'm more of a savory kinda person!

    I have made this kind of curry many, many times, but it never occurred to me to fry each item separately before adding to the pot. Once again, I have learned a new technique by watching your videos. Thank you so very much!

      I always fried the beef first then set it aside, caramelized the onions in the pot, then throw the carrots and potatoes in with the onions, fry a little more then add the beef I fried earlier. Turns out great!

    I was initially disappointed he used Curry blocks, but then I thought I would give it a try. Honestly the best curry I have had in years. We don't order Katsu any more because we eat it once weekly. Just make a not of the brand of curry blocks he uses, and you can make a cheap tasty meal regularly. Thank you Terada San!

    Some tips:
    1. Boil water first. Cover lid.
    2. Fry potatoes first then add to boiling water. It takes longest to cook.
    3. Do carrots next and even add celery if you like. Not sure if necessary to stir fry.
    4. Do onions next in frying pan.
    5. Marinate beef with soy sauce and salt and pepper ahead of time. Coat with some flour before searing in frying pan. Flour will lock in beef flavors. Cook with some onions leftover from 4 and add some garlic. Don’t add to boiling pot. Cook a bit longer where inside beef is not raw.
    6. Add curry into boiling pot. Mix and stir.
    7. Add in beef with just 5-10 minutes left to cook curry.
    The beef will have much more flavor.
    Entire cooking and prep time reduced too. 👍

    • @lukejposadas
      @lukejposadas Год назад

      No you are totally wrong about the beef, you want the beef cooking with everything else to impart its flavor. Do you know what curry is lol?

    • @f430ferrari5
      @f430ferrari5 Год назад

      @@lukejposadas when you add the beef and it’s sauce into the curry you’re getting the beef flavor also.
      If you do it your way the beef you bite into is bland.

    Katsu and curry one of the best comfort foods. Easy to make at home, though I do love going to a local curry place here in Las Vegas. Hamburg steak goes well with curry, too, as well as a little cheese to take it to the next level.
