      Right?? \(•◡•)/
      I love World Heritage sites! You can absolutely visit Gudvangen for hikes and tours and this particular village even has a historical tour where you get to experience a bit of what it was like to live in one of these Norwegian villages! So cool~! ^~^
      Honestly, I'd love to go to one of these villages some day. My ma is Norwegian/Swedish (matrilineal) and Chahta/Basque (patrilineal) - not to mention my da being Nigerian and Cameroonian, but that's a whole different topic that could send me even further into making this comment even more of an excitable novel than it already is. 🤦🏾‍♀️😂 (Apologies for that, by the way! Lmao)
      But it's definitely a dream to visit mine, as well as others', cultural heritage sites! Anthropology and cultural sociology/history is something that's just so incredibly fascinating! (/・ω・)/♡

      Search bone bodkin or bone sewing needle. They’re fairly easy to find. What she’s doing with it has a name, it’s called hair taping and it’s what was done before hairpins were the norm.

    • @kbyom
      @kbyom 11 месяцев назад +3

      Yup! It’s just a thin, dull, bone needle. I’ve also used dull needles made of wood and if I’m really desperate, a weavers needle or a darning needle will do the trick! But the bone one always looks great in the village. 😍

    Yes my ancestors are viking. So I have the beard and the hair..
    I have also been asked why do I have my hair done like a colored person? And I have to educate them that vikings have had this hair style way before..

      @RedNorseChick 9 месяцев назад +5

      I am Scandinavian as well but my hair is red and curly. We always called our hair slick. It's not oily at all, it's just that the hair cuticle is so smooth that all the hairs lay right up against each other, therefore it does not have any grip or friction.

There has to be a law in the US that allows black people to wear their hair like this and you guys are playing dress up and getting your history from a TV show then literally insulting a look on someone with a different shade of skin wearing a style that is considered more appropriate for their ancestry.
      This is literally the definition of cultural appropriation or culture vultures. It's not about the style that you're wearing it's the comment that you made regarding it that sends the wrong message.

      This type of braiding exists in europe for thousands of years in REAL and PHYSICAL proof of statues, especially in southern europe. Northern europeans since the iron age have been found with their hair braided. The oldest statue with a person who has cornrows was found in France and its 25.000 years old. This is literally a basic hair braid, which probably existed since forever, so from what afrocentric website you have the idea that they are "black"(subsaharan african)? Doesn't matter, because its wrong. African Americans are the ones using it extensively right now, that it's true, but doesn't mean they invented shit. I repeat, this is literally the most basic form of braiding ever, it's nothing special about it, like in the case of dreadlocks. Modern humans probably know this form of braiding since they know how to make fire. So just go back to your cave and don't leave it anymore.
