As someone who knows a small amount about cars and has recently bought a Holden, I find you channel the go-to place for learning how to do things that I think are really useful to know if not for myself but a friend who might be having an issue you have discussed thanks for that 😊😊
The video was very helpful for solving a different fault. My front passenger window would only go half way up then stop (but could go all the way down). So I knew the mechanism was functioning and I guessed something was blocking it - (like maybe a cable had come loose or something). I followed your video to get all the panelling off and inspect the mechanism. I had a good look with a torch and I could see that the glass had come out of it's groove on one side. So the reason it got stuck half way was that it was going up on a different angle and got caught on the outside seal between the grove and the body of the vehicle. I loosened the screws fixing the glass to the motor, repositioned it back in its groove and re-tightened the screws. So thanks for the video on how it all works. The only problem is that the seal where the glass was rubbing up against it is now damaged from the window pushing against it. There is a small gap between the glass and the body of the car. It's not big but could let water in between the glass and the outside panel during heavy rain etc. Is this seal replaceable or repairable?
Excellent video. Was a bit nervous initially to remove console. I knew the switch was just a plug in but your video has been really helpful in safe removal & replacement of trim etc. No extra screws left over lol. Cheers
Hey both my back windows won't go up. About 10% out of 100 the window decides to go back up. The back windows have no issue going down. Centre buttons and both back door buttons both allow down. Now I've spilt drinks on the centre buttons, and a dog has jumped the seat and stood on the buttons. Could my issue be a faulty centre button module. Or does this sound like a diferent issue?
Great video mate super helpful! Is there any difference using a Non Genuine eBay master switch VS a genuine GM? Genuine GM run you somewhere between $80-120 where non genuine are anywhere from $20-80. Usually i don’t by non genuine but seems a little steep.
@Khyle Thanks mate. Functionally I’ve seen no difference between the genuine and aftermarket one that replaced it. Quality is not quite as good but certainly still certainly passable, reliability wise I’d assume they’re a bit more hit and miss but mines been in for at least 6 months with no dramas at this stage so hopefully it will suit as a long term fix. I’ve got a link in the description to the one I used if you’re interested. Good luck mate 👍
Do you have a cable layout picture, my window fell and my cables are loose all over the place can't find any pics any where how they are supposed to be
Hey mate. Great videos! I've got a problem with my rear passenger window. The main driver control panel can wind the window down but not up. The rear passenger switch can wind up and down no worries. I've seen your videos replacing the whole control module, but is there a way to replace individual switches, or open the module and clean the contacts?
@MrWah79 Hey mate, thanks and glad you enjoy them. Thought I mentioned it in the video but perhaps not, I did have a play around with the old one once I got it out and it doesn’t really look to be serviceable like some earlier units, at least not easily at all. That being said maybe someone a bit more cluey than me could manage it!
@@ydihtty nah not yet. I pulled the window control module out and cleaned the contacts for the front windows, but the rear windows are encapsulated. I think it will require a new control module. The old Bombadore is starting to show her age these days!
If you don't have a helper to hold the window up, taping it to the door frame does the job.
@VS 5.0 That’s an awesome idea, thanks mate 👍

Cheers bro, didn't have to play guessing games with my car (like always) made my job 100% easier
@Adam Stone I know that guessing game well myself mate! Glad it helped 👍
I use rubber triangle wedges between the window and the door frame to stop the window from dropping down works well.
Great idea, thanks mate. I also like the idea of taping it to the door frame that was mentioned, nice and simple as well.
