- On this Hard Questions, we're talking about Jesus's actions after the resurrection. Why, when he met Mary at the tomb, did Jesus tell Mary not to touch him?

Here's my thoughts and I really don't have anything to base it on - when he told the woman not to touch him because he had not ascended to the father, was it because this woman would defile him in some way??
He first had to be 'glorified'. Jesus was back that same afternoon.
There was never a time when Jesus was not glorified. He just held it back. He had the power to show His glory like He did for several of the Disciples like He did on the Mount of Transfiguration and He asked them if they knew who He was? Peter's answer was correct, "Thou art the Christ the Son of the living God". Jesus told Peter "flesh and blood had not revealed this unto him, but only the Father".
He ascended to heaven with his blood
The “doctor” misspoke when he said that Jesus rejected Mary’s clinging because He hadn’t - I believe the word he used was “completed” - the work?
Not so.
Christ said on the cross, “It is finished.”

So good! Thank You Jesus. I am most drawn to what to the first Pastor said that Jesus had to present Himself (spotless) to God first, He was fresh out of the Tomb. I believe that it speaks of Ephesians 5:25-27. After He gave Himself up for us, His Bride, He had to present us to the Father without spot or blemish. Marry was human, though a not an evil one, she was still in the physical body of sin (for all have sinned). I find it to be remarkable that she was the first person who saw Him, since it was the woman who first ate the fruit in the garden

but then why did Jesus allow Thomas to touch his wounds?
It was in the context of holding on as holding Him back. Whereas Thomas was invited to touch. Likewise Matthew 28:9 the women were holding to His feet.
What if it was something different? Think of it in the order as the High Priest. What were the rules of the High Priest as far as being clean?
Mary did not touch Jesus. That's why Jesus said touch me not. John 20:17 KJV Jesus was on His way to the Holy of Holies to pay for our sins once for all. He became our High Priest on Resurrection morning and Mary would have contaminated the sacrifice. But when Jesus came back His High Priestly duties were finished and He then could allow people to touch Him. God the Father was extremely strict about the earthly High Priest in the old Testament and extremely strict about Jesus Christ entering the Holy of Holies with the Spotless Lamb of God's Blood to complete this Eternal transaction.

God's word is not interpreted by a female perspective or male perspective. Jesus Christ was not to be touched by a female because Jesus was offering himself as a perfect unflawed sacrifice with no blemish, as required. We as females were ritually unclean. Women have a cycle and women had to go through the cleansing process and be separated for 7 seven days and offer a sacrifice, the whole 9 yards. Then she was able to join society again and be with her husband. That's why Jesus told Thomas to touch him and feel the hole in his side. Because Thomas was a man not a female. That's why David and his men responded "we have not been with any woman these past three days" . As a Christian woman I've heard ministers tiptoe around certain subjects because there is massive pressure to not come across as 'shovenist', however the fact is that there are very clear and distinct roles for women and men. It is not about worth or value, but about order.

I believe Jesus was in between Mortal man and spiritual man and he probably wouldn't quite turned into a spiritual man yet

According to the Jewish law a man must not touch a woman's body if he is not married to her and vice versa.
The question should be asked is why Jesus told Mary not to touch him and at the same time on the same day offered Thomas to place his hand on his hand and allowed to touch him?
Since Jews never go to tomb on third day to annoint dead bodies with spices, Why Mary Magdelene and other women went to tomb on 3rd day with the spices?
Jesus was/is able to know the future, so at first, what was the result in people's mind if he let her to touch him; That is people might say that one who needs people's care, how could he care other.
That's why he didn't let her to touch/ care him.

Jesus came to Serve. First regarded as a Prophet. The next step was High Priest. What were the rules of the High Priest before He entered the Holy of Holies? The next time we will see Him as King. Prophet, Priest and King!!
The difference was that Mary was clinging at Jesus’s feet, as a form of reverence and worship. She believed. Unlike Thomas, Jesus was presenting himself to Thomas so that he might believe, so Jesus asked Thomas to touch him. Thomas did not worship Jesus upon seeing him. I have not yet ascended to my Father and to my glory; do not worship me until I sit down at the right hand of my Heavenly Father, in our glory, then you can cling unto me for all eternity.
I domnt think so ots bcause he did not ascended yet if Mary touched him shes corrupted in the flesh until Jesus ascended which would be glorified. Eventually he appears before thomas he has already ascended

Jesus rose on first fruits. Nisan 17. He had to present himself to the Father as the first fruits
If Christ paid the price for our sins he became our substitute.
(Imagine for a moment the fairness of such a Father, letting his son die for all sinners everywhere.)
Yet we still die. There is a big wrench in that fan.
If I went into the bank and paid off all your loans forever, you would not have to pay ever again. But all of mankind pays....(death and taxes ring a bell?)
We need to be very careful jumping to conclusions on what the Bible does say.
1. Christ actually showed us the way by the example of how he lived and what he taught.
2. In addition GOD working with and through Christ, opened the way that no man had been able to open. Symbolized when the Temple veil ripped from the Top to the Bottom at the Crucifixion. ( A humanly impossible task.)
The type of this process happened with Abraham and Isaac when they walked together up the mountain to the top and Isaac submitted to Abraham and laid down on an altar because GOD had asked Abraham to offer Isaac his only son. (As a Test only, the angel of GOD stopped him before he went through with it.) Isaac however was not sinless so could not be the foundation for GOD offering forgiveness based on a perfect sacrifice.
GOD opened the way when Christ (his mortal son) died on the cross.
His son submitted being perfectly obedient to his Father's will even to the point of giving up his life for the sake of others.
3. GOD's law was upheld by Christ being perfectly obedient to his Father.
Yet Ironically the Law of Moses cursed anyone who hung on a tree.
So GOD in his ultimate wisdom allowed a perfectly obedient son to come under the curse of the Law without sinning.
WHY?
GOD explains that in this way.....Col 2:13 And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,
Col 2:14 by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross.
But folks we are only forgiven when we take responsibility for our sins and repent of them before our Father. If I think I am saved and then go out and become a bank robber I can lose my ability to call on my Father through the name of Jesus Christ for forgiveness.
We are...... NOT......... once saved always saved....completely against scripture.

Paul the Apostle wrote 14 books of the New Testament and warned that he could lose his Salvation unless he kept himself
living to the best of his ability after the example of Christ.
We receive forgiveness in Christ as we try to live following in his footsteps. It doesn't matter how many times we fall. There is forgiveness,
but we must take responsibility to live to the best of our ability striving to follow his example and asking for forgiveness for our shortcomings through Christ.
Some have stretched this once saved always saved false teaching to the extreme that we can do whatever we want after we are baptized or saved and nothing matters from that day forward. The Bible does not teach that. It is not just or right or accountable.
Logically speaking folks why would there be a day of Judgement? A day of Reckoning if you are once saved, always saved?
It is the same logic that says Christ paid for all of your sins so you don't have to. Then why does mankind still die? Exactly because it is a lie.
Christ didn't pay for all the sins you will ever commit period. If he just blanket covers us all why do we punish law breakers?
We should get them to repeat the words "Jesus saves and let them go free"
But there is an avenue of approach to GOD through which you can ask for forgiveness and have your sins removed, wiped clean. It is a lifelong process of going to our Father in prayer, living after the example of his Son. Reading GOD's word and submitting to it's message.
Pro 28:5 Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the LORD understand it completely.
Pro 28:13 Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper, but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.
Pro 28:14 Blessed is the one who fears the LORD always, but whoever hardens his heart will fall into calamity.
Pro 28:9 If one turns away his ear from hearing the law, even his prayer is an abomination.

The reason it doesn’t make sense odds because we Christian’s moved away from phenomenon. We say it’s the devil but we die and we are just as good or bad as we were on earth and we MUST LEARN that and deal with it.

So they can’t confirm that it is not him. So Catholic Bible then says this Jesus came back for 40 days. And then went into hell prior to ascension?Why?Then what? Reinstructing his disciples. Putting in power St. Peter of his church. And conveniently Mary Magdalene disappears,disciples are killed one way or another. And view that chariots cane down and took him up in the sky... no man has been allowed into heaven besides Enoch.

These speakers failed to inform the audience of a Jewish practice called “negiah” in which members of the opposite sex are prohibited from touching one another. Mary would have clearly been overjoyed to see her teacher resurrected and full of emotion and she may have wanted to give him a hearty hug and kiss upon seeing him. Christ (being a righteous servant of The Most High) politely asked her not to give in to her emotions but instead channel her joy in to informing the others of his return…
This practice of “negiah” is further cited by St. Paul as a righteous manner of conduct (for Christians) and he mentions it in 1 Corinthians 7:1.
This Abrahamic practice is also observed by Muslims and they are often unjustly criticized for it in Western countries…. (ie men not shaking the hand of or hugging women who are not related to them)

Ben Brewer...No...because we don't know Hebrew and Aramaic, we have missed what He said...Jesus told her "don't cling on to me" because, I am sure she was squeezing His legs and crying with relief and joy.
