- Ringing this super, meaty eight. Sorry the ringing isn't a bit better but people seemed to struggle with these for some reason, perhaps sleepy after lunch or too much beer. A mixture of Rudhall and Mears bells rehung and effectively tuned together by Taylors in 1951. They go well and are easy to hear. It is another of Herefordshire's detached towers and the only one with a ring of eight (see also videos of Pembridge, Bosbury and Holmer).
Was looking for a vid of these the other day strangely enough!! They sound fantastic!!
@simonbellringer
They are a really cracking old-style heavy-ish 8 with a lot of power to them. People seem to find them difficult though which I don't really understand. Never had a problem ringing them myself, even before the rope guide was put in which supposedly made a lot of difference. Maybe I just pull straighter?
@simonbellringer I don't know who you are talking about but I'm sure I'll get to ring there at some point.
@simonbellringer I'm usually fine with long draughts though Vowchurch tenor caused me some difficulty because it fell so close to the wall and I kept hitting my hand on the wheel mounted on it!
Ah I see, because he made a remark about your good self on the Enville video and I wasn't sure if I should remove it or not!
Massive? Damnright.
@timmeh1507 lol, Im only joking, though Cricklade arent exactly sweet cuddly bells, they take some ringing lol!! quwers disagrees and thinks they are Gods Gift to bells, and he is Gods Gift to ringing as a whole, but he is a Cricklade Ringer and has had loads of experience!!!
@irkibby I've waited and have not seen...
@irkibby what is massive??
@timmeh1507 Just you wait and see.
@timmeh1507 lol, come and try Cricklade if you think youre good enough!! :)
