*Thanks* for the open - box review . A couple of points : 1.) Engine is a 'generic' Chrysler big block , backed with a 4-speed manual 2.) This version seems to have both the *2WD* and *4WD* suspension parts and leaf springs 3.) Some of the items on the chrome tree are for the *Sweptside* version (tail lamp bezels, etc.) Lots of kitbashing potential here between this kit and its predecessor : 1978 D100 long bed Sweptside.
The gold plastic rims are exactly like they were in the original issue Warlock. This kit will almost build a Little Red Express. Looks like the exhaust stacks, tires and decals are the only missing bits. Hopefully someone will make a nice 3D printed 360 small block for this and the Little Red Express
Thank you for this review! Ive been waiting for this!! This was only released one time up til now. I remember watching my dad build the original kit back in the day. Love it! Definitely picking up a couple of these👍👍
Pretty cool unboxing. This looks like it would be fun to build. Needs a bit of work but would be pretty neat to have up on the shelf. Love the decals too. I’m in for one. Thanks for sharing James
@GTClassicPlastic I’d love to see them. Once I get time between work I’m going to go check out the playlist. Sometimes that plastic does look awesome with some clear over it!! Love it when it comes molded in some super neat colors
I wonder how many old timers remember the Dodge pick-up first came out in the mid-70's as a 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive? I had one. I think it was packaged as a '76. I recognized that engine, and the wheels it came with were deep dish steelies with those Desert Dogs. The same thick looking axles too.
This is fantastic! Thanks for the unboxing. For those who are wondering, you can kit bash this model with the older, long bed version and recreate Rick Simon's Power Wagon from the show with minimal fabrication of the front grille and pushbar.
I recently acquired the '78 Dodge pick-up in 2 wheel drive. 1/25 scale is the most favorite because of SO MANY cars and trucks made in that. I recognized the chassis as being the exact same one in the 3/4 ton 4 wheel drive version. The suspension lacks the upper control arm detail in that 2 wheel drive version. This short bed version is the same way too. It'd take skills to add those upper control arms. I dream a lot about actually building what I have but probably never will. I've dreamt for nearly 60 years and still can't do anything but dream.
@@ScaleModelExperiment I'm 63 years old. What do you think I've seen in my lifetime? Ever since I wanted to start building models, anyone that had access to my life took everything away from me and continue to keep from building any of them. All I can do, is dream about them.
I was thinking the rear fenders would be separate. Interesting to see they're not. Still, a kit I've been waiting for a long time. Glad to see it coming out.
so cool thanks for showing so glad its coming back out so i dont have to go nuts finding one. lol hope the red one comes out too cant wait to see how you build this one
So much for collecting a couple of NOS new ones from 1977/78. Original ones were black castings, but everything looks just like the original issue ones. The chrome wheels look to be added. Which is whats on my original 78 4x4 Warlock.
I thought of that. However, inflation and a lazy, non-working wife has him in the poor house and there is no end in sight. Better to sell them off to someone with some means, but he isn't having that, either. What can you do? @@ScaleModelExperiment
James very cool unboxing preview I have been waiting for this one that roll bar looks to be a teaser it is from thunder struck pull truck. Lots of cool extras from multiple issues. Them decals are awesome.
Oh yeah, I'm excited about this kit. I need two lol. Looks like you can build a two wheel drive or a four wheel drive. Also looks like you could build a Little Red Express truck, just need to get tires, decals, and the chrome stacks. 👍😎
A small block motor doesn't have a distributor in the front of the motor. I never saw a Warlock pick up any other color than black from the factory. The kit looks nice. I had an original but like all the other models I put together, it most likely got cherry bombed. The original kits were only 3 to 5 dollars and not what they cost today.
I look forward to it. Thanks for the unboxing. I've always liked the MPC kits. I just put the MPC 1969 Dodge Daytona kit. The front nose was a little tough to put on. @@ScaleModelExperiment
@tint661 I appreciate the MPC and early AMT kits for their subject matter but prefer the precision of todays Japanese kits. Something for everyone in this hobby we share.
Looks good Don't know why they gave 2 sets of crossmembers or 3 sets leaf springs maybe a 2 or 4 wheel option Had one of the original didn't do it as a warlock
I already have the real deal........LOL!...........I can't wait to get this kit! - (nobody online is even talking about this kit. Are you sure MPC is actually releasing it? Round2 had no info on it)
That engine is a big block not a small block which is sad as that truck was not available with a big block. Desert dog PCV was a low production “pick up camper van” version available in 10:00 or 12:00x15
Realy cool presentation man….still no word on a 2020 Vette im guessing…..what is GM’s problem? Sell the specs already!! Lol maybe Tamiya will get it….ive done 2 more Tamiyas since i messaged last, totally hooked on the quality and pride they show in the manufacturing of the models…zero flash etc etc,you already know lol waiting on the Vette!! Be cool bro
I wish that all you guys that do what's in the box review. Would look at the instruction sheet. Go over to see what is what instead of trying to guess. Or you don't know what is. Because there are a few of you guys out there that guess the wrong thing without looking at the instruction sheet it makes you look like.
A blast from the past. A classmate in HS had the L'Il Red Express version of this.
Little red was over the top compared to this truck. Thanks for watching 👍
Nice looking kit. It is nice to see a mid-70’s Dodge truck. It looks like a simple build. Thanks for sharing.
I agree Michael. A quick hitter is needed sometimes to keep you fresh in techniques.

That’s a good point to kitbash it with the swept side bed. Thanks 👍
I think some of the part trees cover the Little Red Express kit also. Like the 2WD front end.
@tint661 correct, lots of options for kit bashing.
I am so eagerly looking forward to this kit! 😎👍
You and me both Lance! Thanks for watching👍

Looks like the exhaust stacks, tires and decals are the only missing bits. Hopefully someone will make a nice 3D printed 360 small block for this and the Little Red Express
You could also use it in a Volare model as well. Let’s hope for the best.
What 😮 , No Volare's here ! I've done both and yes their both the same kit except the stacks and slides gold wheels etc. 👍
Thank you for this review! Ive been waiting for this!! This was only released one time up til now. I remember watching my dad build the original kit back in the day. Love it! Definitely picking up a couple of these👍👍
I’m so glad it brings back memories for you Eric. Thanks for watching 👍
I can't wait to buy it Jim! Is like to see you build it! 😎👍
I may squeeze that into the SME production line in 2024👍 Thanks for watching!
I built that back in the seventies. I liked it. It’s a nice looking truck, when it’s done
I’m looking forward to seeing them built well 👍
thanks for the preview James
Thanks Sean 👍
Hey, I remember buying & putting the model together way back when I was a teen in the late 70s. Cool MPC model to built
Very cool, thanks for watching👍
Cool looking kit nice review think I want one too love the decals thanks for the lookJames
Thanks for watching Deen, I agree the decals make this one special.
That's a good looking kit, Jamess, and I want one. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching Uncle👍

@GTClassicPlastic always fun to see the colors your Jo-Han is molded in. It’s usually a fun surprise. Could be white. Or could be totally off the wall

Don’t worry about the chassis and engine just focus on the paint and bodywork. 😁

Thanks for the review, would love to see a white glue buildup on this one. Keep up the good work.
Hi Gary, that one was on loan from AMT, I wish I was allowed to WGR it. Soon it will be on the shelves so I can.
I like that there are parts to make a 2WD or a 4WD truck! More bang for the buck again from Round2!
For sure Pat, bonus!
Looks like a cool kit. Cant wait to get one. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching Alan👍
Need one of these.. Thanks for the preview..
Thanks for watching Kreg, I really appreciate your support 👍
Wow awesome looking truck
Thanks Travis👍

That’s for sure, eventually they will all be reissued! No sense in holding on to old plastic kits.
Pretty cool unboxing.
Thanks so much for watching and leaving a comment 👍
I hope to get one or two for sure! Thank You for the box viewing Dude! Later
Thanks for watching Russell👍
That's one I'm waiting in. I have the Little Red Express in the stash. I definitely want a Warlock.
Thanks for watching Rob, it will make for a cool truck.
Looks like a great kit!!!
Thanks Richard👍
Guy across the street from me has a green Warlock. Mostly all there but needs a complete restoration. He also has a Dodge Dude.
That’s 😎 maybe you can build him an inspiring build to get him motivated.

Looks good James! I have been wanting one for a while but never found one. Missed a few but have a few of the Lil Red Express!
Awesome Bud, I look forward to seeing it on your channel.
The Original Release of 70s MPC Dodge Pickups Had Little to No flash on the Body's Thus Kit Hasn't Been Seen Since 77 Glad it's Been Reissued !
That makes sense then! Thanks for watching.
Got plenty of parts for 2WD "Little Red Wagon" clone. Glad it comes w/ the generic big block, MPC small block was horrible. 😆
Many thanx 👍👍

Thanks for watching bud👍
Nice kit. I wish it had clear headlights, though.
Hi Ron, I hope that a 3d printer guy makes a better grille for this truck. It’s still workable though.
Its a great kit and I bought the original kit last year for $20 Its molded in black but I like the white better ❤
You got a great deal Shawn! It is a nice kit and the decal sheet is a bonus 👍 thanks for watching brother.

I’m sure you can kit bash this with any other MPC Dodge truck to make it however you want.
Did it have pedals in the tub and on the dash? With all of the extra goodies, more versions are coming and that's always a good thing!
Hi JD, yes double pedals. The extra parts will come in handy 👍
Looks like a fun build
Even for a ford guy ! 😜 thanks for watching👍

Moulds have nothing to do with flash, but mould lock-up pressure does.

That is actually a big block. The oil filter is mounted in the front
Thanks for your correction.
Funny the Lil’ Red Express version was the fast U.S. production vehicle from 0 to 100 for 1978 and 79
Hi Terry, those smog motors from the 70’s were such a joke compared to today’s standards.
Looks good
Don't know why they gave 2 sets of crossmembers or 3 sets leaf springs maybe a 2 or 4 wheel option
Had one of the original didn't do it as a warlock
I’ve been told that’s the case. Both 2wd and 4wd.
Man what does it matter its extra parts that is always good
Cool I got to get atleast 3!

Yes it’s coming. This is a pre production version of the kit coming out soon.
Hope I dont have the issues with the rear suspension fit like I did on my 78 long bed 78
What was the issue?
I will build more than one for sure!
A black, red and green one?
That engine is a big block not a small block which is sad as that truck was not available with a big block. Desert dog PCV was a low production “pick up camper van” version available in 10:00 or 12:00x15
