where do i start? We had trouble scoring runs that weren't gifted to us. Their bp was tricky enough to shut us down. I felt helpless watching this train wreck. They got us bad then spotted us a two run lead in the fifth and we still blew it. Rather than draw the walk either Suzuki or Bellenger should have swung for the fences. Cuas was like a blind man out there feeling around for the strike zone, but amazingly he did his job. Two outs and then trouble began for Keegan Thompson. You could feel the confidence draining out of him. Lovelady ... that guy has lost us more games than he's helped us in. This game did not go very far to help me forget about the Cubs getting Ceased. Well, you don't win them all. Sometimes that long fly ball finds the gap, sometimes it doesn't. And tomorrow Hendricks is in. I hope the bats heat up. Hendricks says he wants to help the guys. Going to the bp would help the guys.
A CY Young type season, then 2 seasons the Pirates will be buns, traded for a haul that doesn't pan out, goes to win 3 Cy Youngs with 2 yeams the next 10 years

Skenes looked great to start the game and luckily they managed to pull off the win. That doesn't take away the 6 walks with the bases loaded the bullpen had. That is unacceptable and needs to be addressed.

Good outing, but I hope the organization reiterates to him it’s ok to live in the 97-99 range focus on controlling pitches at that speed then you got 100+ later in the game when you need it.
Been watching baseball for over 60 years. Nothing personal against Skenes, but the pitchers who are "can't miss" superstars...usually miss. Brian Taylor, Todd van Poppel and David Clyde come to mind. Do you know who was hyping Greg Maddux? Nobody. Who had Sandy Koufax as, maybe, the best pitcher in history? Nobody. Most thought Bob Gibson was a basketball player. I'm not saying that Skenes won't be successful, but I'm still waiting on Paul Wilson and Pete Smith to deliver on their promise. They should both be in their 60's by now.
