    Ah, nostalgia. I lived here when I was younger. Great place to be a kid. Made me homesick 😔.

    Great video Russ. The scenery is just gorgeous. You picked a good route to take. The video of the bird nest was soooo cute at the end. Give Scoobers a pat on the head from me.

    This is a great little town in the summer. After angry August passes it turns into a ghost town...

    Very pretty little town! What type of birds were at the end, Hawks maybe?

    • @thakidistight
      @thakidistight 7 лет назад +2

      Osprey, but they are known in other areas as fish hawks and sea hawks. Dozens (hundreds, maybe?) of them come back to the Deschutes River every year from places as far away as Central and South America to meet up with the same mate, at the same nesting site year after year to mate and raise their young. The return of the Ospreys usually signals the start of spring in the places where they spend their spring and summer rebuilding their nests, mating and teaching their young the tricks of being a fishing bird.

      DWDinAtlanta Those are Osprey! They were coming close to extinction so the town built these protected nest to encourage reproduction and it worked wonderfully!

    2 questions: Did you ever catch up to the front of that train? I'm wondering what RR it is through there. Also, is it still true that you can't pump your own petrol in Oregon? 20 years ago, they stopped me from pumping!

      My son lives in Oregon and you still can't pump your own gas there. I think New Hampshire or Rhode Island is the same.
