Should have gotten up to Garvin Heights Park. Get a great view of the River, Winona and the surrounding area. Love the videos. Great to see places I may never see, as one other commenter said. Thanks for taking us along.
Welcome to the great State of Minnesota! E-bike is a awesome addition to your videos. Thanks Russ. I'll see what I can do to get those trees trim for you so you can get better views of the river.😀
Glad you could check out wonderful Winona! My Mom was born there, and my family lived there for many years, and have multiple generations buried at Woodlawn Cemetery, a really beautiful place, and we go there at least once a year, the drive along the Mississippi is fantastic, and I love the bluffs, thanks for the great video!
Kudos to your RUclips Channel, Russ! 👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍 Your e-bike is really sweet. When you drove through the river town Fountain City, I thought about when I drive on WV Route 2, through river towns Follansbee, Wellsburg, Wheeling, Sistersville. We have a lot of great history in the state of WV. I reside here in Weirton, WV, where I'm a lifelong resident. Weirton, WV is just north of Follansbee in the Northern Panhandle of WV. Route 2, runs north and south through the WV Northern Panhandle. North of Weirton, WV, is more river towns, New Cumberland, Chester, Newell, and New Manchester. As always, I wish you safe travels and I wish you the best as well. Talk soon Alan.
My family roots : Winona . Brewery barges Corp of engineer, Dams ... Cousin still works at court house . Polish museum started by fam . Lived in old brewery Apts. FC wis. U drove past by golden frg. All my old stomping grnds. THNX 4 THE MEMORIES . bike by in N.W.R. 7 miles bridges old r.r. grade check it out . Probably see kulas roads too lol . Love traveling along w ya all . Thnx again brought tears to my eyes
I have been watching you for a while now (Maybe a year) and just want you to know what a fantastic job you do!! It gives me ideas, and also allows me to see places that I will probably never make it to. Again, great job and thank you so much!
Thank you Russ! Enjoyed stop in Winona! The River is beautiful here! Liked the museum and seeing the tugs and barges! Look forward to Davenport Iowa!❤️😀🇺🇸🌏🚙
Hi Russ, Thank you Thank you so so much for a hour and a half video and you taking your time to tape. You did a great job. would be a nice place to live. wow Hour and a half so much better then 20 to 40 min. your the best
The Mississippi river starts by Niswa Minnesota. You should definitely go there, it's absolutely not what you think it will be. I've been there many times. Love your video's
My late dad Tom bless him in the bed of heaven . His favourite song to sing was Noreen Bawn, it's an old Irish song, line in it if I remember correctly says ... Where the Mississippi and the Missouri river flow .
Great video Russ. When you were in Prairie du Chein, WI/Marquette, IA a couple of years ago (?) you missed a place to view the great Mississippi - Mt Hosmer Park in Lansing, IA north of Marquette. Maybe you could see it this year. Don't be intimidated by the trip through a residential neighborhood to get up there; maybe that e-bike is a better solution. It's up at the top of one of those hills that are so prevalent in the area.
Your e-bike has added a new dimension to your travels for your viewers. Your trip to downtown Winona park couldn’t be as well accessed as by the e-bike. The flowers, water marks on the retaining walls were very visible by the bike, but missed by cars and other forms of travel except walking. I guess the larger tugboat must utilize its strength to push the grain barges very far down river. It would be interesting to see if you cross paths with the tugboat as you travel down river. Very interesting video, Russ.
Once again Russ Nails it ! My cousin and I , used to camp and fish there in our teens !! LOL that was in the mid 70's . Haven't been there in a long time TY sir.nearly as exited as your WA state hwy 20 ,vids of the cascades, to Anacortes!!
I like your channel. I have traveled #35 many times and been in Winona. #61 on the Mn. side. Years ago I lived about 30 miles from Winona. You make me wan to do this again.
You forgot about Gavin Heights, the road takes to the high point of the bluff, and little walking then you can look out on a panaramic view of Winona and possibly on a clear day see La Crosse
We probably passed on I-90 😉. We live in Rapid City and went to Oshkosh Air Venture and back. Rapid City/Sturgis also had some very cool weather later. Anyway this was interesting and relaxing as usual. Winona looks like a nice stopover, may do that someday. Btw wife & I think it’s a great idea to save some content for this fall and winter and also even out the editing workload. Having done a few videos at one time, it amazes me what a time suck that is. Take care and God bless
Corn or soy beans. How many nights I spent sleeping overnight in a grain line. Never to Winona though. Grain goes south. I guarantee they don't get paid by the hour. Overnighting in a place like New Prague, there's a bar on every street. Full of Bohemians. They not only get weighed. They get sampled before they're allowed to dump.
Russ please ride against the traffic! People aren't paying attention and don't see bike riders. Stay safe. At least you will be able to see who is coming towards you and you can avoid an accident. Stay safe. Those bike laws were written in the 50s And people Are not paying attention when they drive. I've had 3 good friends die While riding their bikes and people running into them. All hit from behind. Stay safe Love the video!
THere is something similar to that structure [5-A] up near Niagara Falls...on the American-side, including fish-ladders. Nifty, to my way of thinking and viewing.
When you start your tour of Route 66 will you start at Buckingham Fountain in Chicago or opt out of the congestion of the city? Looking forward to your trip! You were filming in Fountain City about 40 miles from where I live in western Wisconsin. We played the Cochran-Fountain City Pirates in high school.
Great videos! Like and follow your channel. Being an Ohioan, I have to tell you that they still run the SOAP BOX DERBY every year in Akron, Ohio 789 Derby Downs Dr, Akron, OH Just sayin' Have a great day Russ!
I hear you talking about snow when you come to Minn. Some years we get alot but last year hardly any. It's safer driving on snow than driving on 95 from Parker to Havasu
Going down the Illinois side of river south of Thompson Ill great place to watch Barges. Very Close to river. I used to live in Clinton IA, Now live in IA City.
When I began sailing on the Mighty Columbia, I got scolded for calling a "towboat" a "tugboat." In our area, the boats that push barges are towers and not tuggers. Ha!
Too bad you didn't go to Trempealeau, WI, you can stand right where the boats go threw the lock. Almost shake hands with the people on the large boats as they go through.
thanks for sharing, very interesting
Thank You @RVERTV you have the best channel and Vibe for traveling .

Wish we knew you were here in Winona we would have loved to have you over 🥰

I like your channel. I have traveled #35 many times and been in Winona. #61 on the Mn. side. Years ago I lived about 30 miles from Winona. You make me wan to do this again.
I'd also like to add that the next time you visit Russ you should take Highway 61 from the Twin Cities down, it's a really scenic drive!
Very interesting video
When you get down around Davenport, Iowa or Rock Island, Illinois try to check out Arsenal Island! Military museum there.

There're 35,000 known museums in the USA how many has the "old RVER" been too? I think all of them!

Mississippi starts literally as a trickle way up north in Itasca. My husband went to college in Winona, we saw nothing familiar here!
Fountain City, my hometown. Born in Winona, closest hospital 😊.
Hi thank you I just found the channel I like all the videos really cool 👍
Soapbox Derby last weekend.
We live on top of hill over looking Mississippi just north of Iowa border.
the soap box derby is still held every year at Derby Downs in Akron Ohio
Gods country!
Curious to know if "mobile home parks" allow RV'ers to park for a night, week, month? Or are mobile home parks only for long term?
Some do depending on open lots available.

Have you ever thought about visiting Texas? I think the videos would get a lot of views
You said it seems busier on the Wisconsin side. That's because everyone on the Minnesota side has gone fishing!!!
1960 Sumner county Kansas first grade , one room school. We have terminal grain elevators 1/2 mile long here in Kansas.

Hello from Minnesota ! The Mighty Mississippi River starts in Itaska start park.
When I began sailing on the Mighty Columbia, I got scolded for calling a "towboat" a "tugboat." In our area, the boats that push barges are towers and not tuggers. Ha!
