- A BIG SURPRISE ARRIVED FROM CANADA!
Truly overwhelming to receive a giant balikbayan box and personal note from near my hometown in Canada. Thank You Jovita for this amazing blessing. This video is just another day at our beach home in Cateel. We open up the balikbayan box and then get inspired to have a Filipino spaghetti night. Spaghetti certainly is unique here in the Philippines compared to Canada... it is VERY SWEET!

Hi! Kulas & guys, glad you folks got that Bb box finally. There was also a small token for Kumander D. in there. I believed I wrapped it & with 1 bottle of wine too. Kulas, I really do appreciate you & Kumander D., helping our filipino kababayans everytime we have typhoons in the Phils., especially during the typhoon Odette. Thank you for being kund to my kababayans & loving the Philippines. Enjoy your trip in Dubai with Kumar & Therine, & I guess you wilk be spending time with your own family in Vancouver island for Thanksgiving. I miss my old life in the Philippines . Before I moved to Canada my sisters used to send us balikbayan box in the Philippines . This is a family tradition in the Philippines not only a family member working hard in abroad . They care they always share the blessings to their family from their hard work .
much better to say classic than low quality coz even it’s 60 pesos it’s already a treasure to have it for a lot of Filipinos. I remember feeling rich when we have cheese ( eden, cheesy, etc.)in our sandwich before that i will eat the bread first and the cheese last so i can savor the moment 😅

I find balikbayan boxes as gifts of love and I just love how Mama Rose automatically sends warm wishes to Jovita. 👍🏽 I also used to put oil in the water when cooking spaghetti so that the pasta won’t stick together but when I watched a RUclips video, the Italian chef said not to put oil because the sauce will not coat/sick to the pasta. The oil will make the pasta slippery for the sauce. So I just put salt in the water. ✌🏼Thank you and Power On!

This is the first video I've seen from your channel and look forward to seeing more. I'm a Filipino-American, born in Manila and moved state side when I was in the 6th grade. It's intriguing to watch your perspective as a Canadian. I also have family in Montreal. I was compelled to comment after watching the exchange/commentary on the ingredients. I'd like to offer my perspective growing up in both Filipino and Western cultures. I believe we all have the tendency to classify whatever we grown up with as the norm and lose track of the fact that people that grow up in other places also consider things that they grew up with as the norm. While it can be true in many cases that substitution of ingredients in similar food products is due to scarcity and economics, we easily forget local taste and preference also dictate the manner in which products cater to the local economy. Just because Canadian smoke sausages are dyed a different color red than Filipino sausages does not make one better than the other. Similarly Eden cheese is a processed cheese product. It is preferred when making spaghetti sauce because it melts easily just as American/Canadian processed cheese products are prominent in North American stores. You may consider it low quality simply because of your preference and limited experience. To call the local preferences of other people low quality can be offensive. It also implies that you may think "low quality" is all they can afford. From the looks on your friend's face, I can guess that some of your comments may have struck a chord. In typical Filipino culture, we choose to be polite rather than embarrass out guest but the resentment can remain. I hope my comments do not come across as an attack or negative. I wish you continued success and look forward to watching more of your content.

What all you said is true...my observation is that some foreigners look down on Filipinos even in our own land. They should understand that we have different culture and traditions which we follow and carry on with daily living.But nothing beats the goodness of heart of Filipinos, even the most lowly people when welcoming visitors.They do everything to make visitors feel at home.We Filipinos are just happy people with simple things in life, make do with whatever at hand. Lucky for rich people to experience high end living...Kulas meeting common tao coz he knows that natives are inferior of him and are easily get along with. When they see foreigners, they look up to them maybe bec of color differences...He seems good in his vlogs

Cooking tip...do not put oil in your pasta when you boil it. The oil will keep the sauce from coating the pasta. To keep pasta from sticking, just stir it as soon as you add it to the water.✌🏻😁
I think it doesn't matter for Filipinos style Spaghetti because they are using mostly Spaghetti from wheat flour and not from Semolina flour and it is always overcooked and too soft. I use only spaghetti made of semolina flour and my wife a Filipina doesn't like it when's cooked Al Dente. The results is that I cook my Italian style without oil in much more water and she eats her Jolly 🐝 style....Bon Appetit 🙂

Always nice to get gift box from Overseas. Cool goodies inside. Funny how the breakable items survived yet the coffee cans were a little crunched. Loved the Boy's doing spaghetti with corned beef and lil weenies. 😉 Tried Filipino Style but with beef or pork but not corned beef. Good video and cool Balikbayan Box. 👍
My mistake on the Coffee cans. I saw a reflection, and I forgot to note, the Eden cheese is much like Velveeta and is better for melted dishes. There are many things you can't get in the Philippines, one is good cheeses. However this Country is diverse in many things you cannot get in North America. 👍

When I was young I became friends with a Hawaiian Family that moved into my neighborhood. I was invited to a supper at their house and spaghetti was served .. I was startled to see they put white sugar on their servings of spaghetti. That was a first for me. 😳. Hope you all have happy adventures and grand reunions in the upcoming days.

if you add a bit of condensed milk to the regular ragu style canadian spagetti sauce, it's the same as filipino style sauce. I've tried - it's the same.
