Hello Enfield afficionados from southern California. I bought my Interceptor in June and now with 2700 miles I %100 concur with this video. The seat is an authentic 1970's method of medieval torture. But.....the rest of the bike is fine. The engine/transmission is engineering perfection. I've driven up over 10,000 ft, 90mph with passenger above 7,000 ft. This engine runs beautifully.
I have clocked 5k kms this month and trust me, you just told my story. Infact majority of Interceptor owner should agree with your narrative. This is really value for money bike for people like me who cannot afford a Triumph.
I ride my interceptor to work daily in Melbourne, Australia. After watching this, and what the bike has gone through... im pretty confident my bike will be just fine haha
Just completed 10 k. Will be taking for second service in a couple of days. Wonderful package. An absolute joy to drive The issues that I faced so far as following. 1. The seat is too narrow. And Soft. The frame begins to hurt after 30.minutes. I am.100.kgs and may be that works against me. I have added some foam and made it wider. Its a bit better but not comfortable . 2. Changed the break pads after 2500 KM. Delhi traffic may be the reason. Rs. 2300 or so cost. 3. Chain sproket both gave way. The problem started as early as after first service about 500 km. They kept adjusting the chain tension until it was too late. And at about 9 k KM they changed the chain and sprockets without a charge. 4. The clutch is a bit tighter now. I was told a new tension adjuster is coming soon so waiting. 5. Handle bar raiser would be a good idea some times its too far a stretch. I am.5'10" and I do feel the handle.is a bit far. 6. Its a weighty bike. Moving around it like taking out of home , turning a bit before starting is a hassle but I should not even mention it because its there and I know it. It is NOT a problem. 7. In heavy traffic the engine heats up which too is normal and it is a problem in summers which is like 9 months a year. And traffic snarls are 12 months a year but RE can not be responsible for it. 8. Yellow beam is grossly insufficient. LED lights with projector lamp would be a great relief. Please.... 9. Back rest must be standard. I have purchased one Rs. 1200 but not so good. 10. Alloy wheels are badly missed. Keep hearing its imminent but still waiting. The service costs are more than reasonable..A wash costs Rs. 150 incl GST. Most appreciated. First service was about 500 Rs. If I remember right and second they say will be about 5 K incl oil change. Very good. Tyres seem to be good. Although could have used the same if alloys had arrived. All in all if someone wants to know how many marks out of 10? Well I would like to give all 10. 10/10 plus a big thanks to RE for making it possible.
I got one of these in England,same colour,love it.Done 1400 miles NO problems.Clocks have misted up a bit in all the rain we've had the last few weeks and yes the front forks need better damping.No rust anywhere.Selling very well here,top seller in class.
Used the electrA for more than 12 years it was a price of Shit only my personal opinion....... moved to Honda now an way happy saving money and time ...... And you were right about roads in Pune
I have an Electra for 18 yrs now still love it was a gift from my dad we got it from the showroom for just 59,000 in 2001 and the reading on my speedometer has gone back to zero
I own a standard bullet uce 350. I am also fed up of royal enfield service. The mechanics are cheats. They charge a bomb for just touching the bike in bangalore.
I have been a long term user of Royal Enfield’s. About thirty five years. Most recent was the Continental GT for three years. I have since moved over to Yamaha R15 v3 and have zero issues. No repairs minor or major, whatsoever, Wonder why the RE doesn’t make trouble free bikes with so many years of experience. Goes 120+ kmph with ease. And gives me 59 kmpl consistently!

Is it just me that thinks that a fuel leak on a bike that costs upwards of 3 Laks is NOT "minor" nor do I think is it particularly safe. I'm no chemical engineer but I'm pretty sure petrol is highly flammable especially if it's on as he says a "hot day"

I bought mine on June 29th and use it daily. I have completed around 4800kms and should say that everything you said was rite. My speedometer stopped working, have to get that repaired soon. Also the fuelguage shows wrong readings.
I am 6' tall, planning to buy an interceptor. What is your opinion? I would use it for daily commutes, weekends I will travel a maximum 150kms usually with pillion and occasional long hauls.

Did you test ride the 390 and domi or the interceptor? i am also looking for an upgrade from Apache 160. Did not get a chance to test ride the Honda. Could you please share your experiences?
@@rahulbhutani1981 I would suggest don't jump directly to 300-400cc class from 160cc.. Go with 200-250cc and get used to the power.. Its just my opinion... Rest you decide..
@@Ericsson705 have had a 200NS for sometime and also ridden fz25 for some days in spiti, really didn't feel that much bump of power, from a 17bhp to 47bhp does seem to be huge but, will get used to it easily.... :). Which one do you own btw?

Have been riding mine for almost an year now.... almost 9k kms which includes rides in heavy rains in the hills... I've yet to face any such quality issues with the switches.
I loved the review. Those Indian conditions really test the bike. I noticed that you didnt wash the bike for 6 months. The brushed aluminium on the engine casing looked very "cloudy". I noticed that the front guard looked rusted - but maybe it was some dirt on it. You said that nothing fell of the bike on those bumpy roads, but I was wondering how the bike survived sitting outside in the monsoon....did the bolts get rusty? I actually watched the review twice it was so good!
@@SuperImbadude Strange bro, probably that's a first I have heard, nobody in my circle had this issue even while we used to ride in rains continuously for 4-5 hrs. You should get it fixed if its there in your 390 and atleast the 390 has a clock XD
@@rahulbhutani1981 Manual clearly states weather protection while parking & washing. While moving your meters won't soak that much as compared to parked outside in rain :) Simple ₹200/- jugaad meter covers would do the trick, depends on one's taste though ;)
There's a problem with the clutch assembly while riding up hill. We've complained and the showroom has taken it positively. So guys be vary. Got it replaced under warranty. However I recommend taking this bike up any Rocky terrain
@@sreerajtr6762 posted for a friend, for general awareness. That's probably to do with pulling your clutch back completely. One of the reasons why the clutch plate burnt out. The clutch plate is closely assembled therefore there's very little room for error. Interceptor owners to be fully aware of this. My guesses are during high speeds while downshifting you're probably quick shifting and this is why the gear isn't dropping properly. This bike isn't built with a quick shifter as a matter of fact it's the opposite. Its an orthodox setup due to budget.
A friend of mine was confused between Interceptor and Dominar. Since I was thinking of Interceptor as well, I suggested we rent both bikes for a day and go for a breakfast ride. As much as I loved the throttle response and rideability, I hated the seats after like 100 kms. And at the end of a 300 kms round trip, my left hands fingers were in a bit of pain because of the hard clutch as well. Now he's decided to get thr Dominar, owing to the comfort, and I'm gonna wait and see if RE releases a better version, with the kind of seats on Street Twin, or may be a Himalayan 650? Or actually wait until Triumph start to sell pre owned motorcycles.

33 days 1800ish km done on my continental Apart from the above mentioned problems Id like to also add The bike doens't really instill confidence when you're cruising 110kmph + It doesn't feel natural to the bike imo Stability is a big issue after i hit the 120kmph mark. But apart from that It's been a pretty reliable and fun motorcycle so far.
I also got fogging in the meters during morning rides. RE replaced them under warranty and have to check if the new ones are any better. However the odometer has become zero after the change. Can this be rectified?
I think RE has improved the seats in the new interceptors. I received my bike last month and I feel the seat is not as soft as the one on the test-ride bike last year. I see 'Version 3' written in the bottom of the seat.

With chappal and lungi I never had an issue touching the case ,in rain I had starting trouble,but with rsa it got sorted,a decent mileage of 25 is ok with great guns, carrying a carry bag on handle is embarrassing ,have to see decent looking hanging space to carry some thing to home,but finally worth the buy .

Correction... Fuel tank is 13.9 liters , weight of bike is 213 kgs with 90% fuel. Bike has the best suspension set up for Indian roads, it is very soft set but handles corners like a charm. Extremely pain in the ass to manage the bike if we get stuck in a traffic jam.foot pegs are very wide and don't allow free movement of legs.bike is difficult to handle when pulling out from parking. Engine gets very hot in city traffic conditions. Except these Great bike over all at this price point
I like this motorcycle but it'd be hard for me to decide. My 10 year old CBR250R has not experienced any imstrument fogging or a fuel leak or any other problems.
I too face the fogging of meter console post washing from service centre. My bike covered 2300kms so far. Before first service i had the issues of false neutral. Post service gearbox is more smooth and no false neutral now a days
slimturnpike There is no neutral between second and third gear but while up shifting from second to third bike behaves like its in neutral. Revvs just climb but no power like in neutral
I own 5 month old Interceptor 650 ravishing red , I get 25 to 27kmpl in city and exactly 30 kmpl always on Highway for speeds between 90-120kmph I weight 78 kgs and 210 kg is a concern only when you park on rural streets.. on flat surface parking.. it's absolutely not a concern.. tank size is small hence I end up refuelling frequently... Rusting issues on disc pads and few nuts and bolts which is anyways unavoidable but rusting issues aren't as severe as in jawa42. Engine is best but agree suspension, seats are really a must improvement area.

The back foot pegs are very high so that 5.7 ft person is very uncomfortable

Mirror rusting happen for me. Clutch wire got loosen and removed from gearbox side, which I fixed my self

Being a interceptor owner I would also like to add about poor quality switches which goes crazy in rain that even effect ignition and nutral.

We are spending 3L plus and in return get a fogged up console that too without a clock to say the least. Need to reconsider my decision.

Pure motorcycle, not exiting but solid and easy. Ideal for beginners too. I have done 3000 km with my baker Express this Summer.

How come no crashguard on the bike? Would it have helped in your low speed fall?

Cushioning can also be done as per our need...not an issue.

Fz250 is good bike and go for it. Easy to maintain and tour. Don’t expect it to be like KTMs. I’ve owned both.
Gixxer 250 is also a good option.

I like this motorcycle but it'd be hard for me to decide. My 10 year old CBR250R has not experienced any imstrument fogging or a fuel leak or any other problems.

I too face the fogging of meter console post washing from service centre. My bike covered 2300kms so far. Before first service i had the issues of false neutral. Post service gearbox is more smooth and no false neutral now a days
Any rusting iasues?

No rust so far. I apply metal polish once in two weeks

There is no neutral between second and third gear but while up shifting from second to third bike behaves like its in neutral. Revvs just climb but no power like in neutral

I own 5 month old Interceptor 650 ravishing red , I get 25 to 27kmpl in city and exactly 30 kmpl always on Highway for speeds between 90-120kmph I weight 78 kgs and 210 kg is a concern only when you park on rural streets.. on flat surface parking.. it's absolutely not a concern.. tank size is small hence I end up refuelling frequently... Rusting issues on disc pads and few nuts and bolts which is anyways unavoidable but rusting issues aren't as severe as in jawa42. Engine is best but agree suspension, seats are really a must improvement area.

Both are good. If you want a modern comfortable bike get dominor, it is more practical. Interceptor /gt is for retro minimalist lovers.
