The crazy part is that this song is all the endings where they stay in the downside, and they're still satisfying in their own way. Even if it was hard, Hedwyn had to understand that we were doing all this for everyone, including him, and that eventually it would be his turn, but he wouldn't be abandoning us.

Most everyone regards Hades as Supergiant's masterpiece--rightfully so--but I think Pyre will always be my favorite Supergiant game. It has such a unique story and cast of characters. The choices you make really matter since not everyone can be saved. This song is what truly sets the game over the top. Not everyone can "find their way home," but they can "stay true to the end." Despite being separated by great distance, the characters keep in touch via Messenger Imp even past the day of revolution. I can't articulate all the exact reasons why, but this game means a lot to me. I had a chance to replay it this past year, and it was as lovely as I remembered. The ending, this song, gets me to cry every time. The idea of a found family being separated for the greater good but still staying in touch and being "bound together" is devastatingly bittersweet. I truly love this game, and I am overwhelmingly grateful to Supergiant Games for giving it to us. I can't wait to see what they do next ❤️

while this reply is very late, i too cried at the end ,but for the fact it was over, i left sandalwood, bertrude and gae behind(cause i thought they would be okay with staying behind) and gave oralecht his freedom, but at the end somehow i felt that even if oralecht deserved it,my character was left behind while everyone else lived together in the commonwealth and made me feel kinda bad. the game is a masterpiece, and i liked it even more than transistor, wich is pretty high up the list.(my reply might be irrelevant after 2 months but i just felt i had to say smth).
I feel as though the true impact of this song can only be felt when heard at the end of the games credits, because it's not just a song that plays at the end of the game. Bound Together is your song, about your story. The fact that it changes depending on how many people you send back gives this song something special, something that I think no other song can ever really reach. It's personal.
Just WHY does this song literally *never* fail to make me cry? There's something scientifically beautiful about it and I can't even pin it! It's too perfect. Darren, you're a genius and I love you.
that's the point. you are literally pointing out the obvious. it's about their personalities and what happened to them after the end. wheter they stayed true to their convictions or not,and wheter they got freedom. (music changes slightly depending on who you free in-game to "remained in the end".)
Spoilers ahead: If you think about it, as long as you keep at least 2 of your party together, none of them will ever feel abandoned... and in the end, i like to think that they all reunited amongst the stars, fae certainly made me believe that there is more to the scribes than just dead stars and the constellation-like image of everybody in the party. that in the end filled me with hope that our crew will finally follow completely in their footsteps
SPOILERS: One of the things about pyre that shows the sheer quality of storytelling is when you are choosing who to will rise is really hard. When it came to who got to leave I would give up the people I wanted to leave the most because I cared about them, not because they were the worst teammate. That is a example of why pyre like all of supergiants games are masterpieces
Holy shit you just commented on one of my comments earlier today and all of a sudden I see your comment here when I want to listen to some great game music. Crazy how small our world is.
I totally get what you mean. It was a choice of whether you want to keep them so you can keep using their kits, or leave them to be free and happy. Ex: I wanted to let the moon touched girl free, but she was also my favorite to play as. When a game makes me choose to give up my favorite playstyle to see them return home safely, that's a good game right there.
Though that is true, the fact that only so many can rise was cut short because there are just a few characters who arive a little late or just don't seem as important, meaning that i didn't really have to make the choice of who should stay behind because it was rlly obvious. Maybe i didn't see every character as much as i should have but my point still stands.
There are so many excellent songs in the soundtrack, but this one is the cherry on top. Absolutely incredible to hear this after your journey. Feels like the bards are singing your legends already
They stayed true to the end, but Nordy the bird boy? Didn’t make it. The Jawsons, they didn’t make it. Grady Senior, Grady Junior... They didn’t make it...
I always wonder if the Heralders (The Lone Minstrel, The Gate Guardian) were actually the two members that were part of the group the Scribes belong and were left behind and forgotten. Since in order for eight members to be freed, you need ten members in a Triumvirate, two has to always be left behind to free the last eight. There's also the fact there are ten Triumvirates, each founded by one of the Scribes (Nightwings and the Beyonders are the odd one out)... Sandalwood even stated Tariq has been with the Nightwing before him... If so, it's a heartwarming goodbye from the two since finally, they can return to the stars to be with their friends (The Eight) now that their purpose and journey is done.
It's a pretty interesting theory, and to be honest it even make their ending more beautiful. The only problem I saw to it is because of the phrase "The Scribes abandoned their freedoms to give us our" ? For me it would mean that they never used the shimmering-pool and died in the Downside, but do you think that they choose to become the Nightwings without telling anyone nor writing it in the Book of Rites ?
The Downside does serve as a sentence, so it makes sense for the Eight to be known as they had freed themselves, while the two left behind is willing to serve the rest of their life even forgotten, at least in the Above world since it's hard to tell their tales when their existence could not be proven unlike the Eight. Down below is a different story and their previous roles probably forgotten like a lot of traditions. Though I do find the celestials are a bit odd, the only stars that we know are the titan's stars, and obviously the Eight, the eye in the sky. But the Heralders are not the stars, they are the sun and moon respectively. The sun being the greatest out of all stars since it shines the day, and the moon being its reflection.
To be fair, the whole argument about the Heralders being part of the original group of the Scribes falls apart when you realize Beyonders were created because a group of assassins tried to kill the emperor, not because they espouse a virtue or tradition of one of the Scribe's, but then they do represent the moral of Downside being a sentence one serves and suffers. It still puts Celeste at odd since she has no group if she was part of the original Scribes, unless she is the one who punished the Beyonders. It wouldn't be out of it since she is called the Gate Guardian so she might have smote those who wishes to go against the Rites and what it represents, redemption. The Nightwings are an entirely different story as they were created by all of the Eight, though it can be argued Tariq was part of its conception. But the game do love the number Ten.
But this song is special to everyone who listens due to it being dynamically generates for each who listen making it you the reader’s story of the Nightwings according to who gains their freedom
I beat the game yesterday. There has not been a single time when I get to the credits of a Supergiant game and have not balled my eyes out. I was trying to hold them back with Pyre but as soon as the characters verses started I couldn't help it. What an amazing journey that I was sad to see end. Thank you Supergiant Games for making some of my favorite games ever made.
SPOILERS I loved how Oralech had 1 Hope... Small details like that makes the game a masterpiece... The story-based ending song... Man, you guys are mind-blowingly fantastic. I don't even know what to say anymore. Please never stop making games.
I love these guys. Because they are improving game design things and be an example for other game companies Please don't leave us Supergiant we don't have so many emotional games(with nice gameplays). And you can do it you prove it to us. Edit: I finished pyre 3 years ago but, I remember all characters and who is stayed behind. I am emotional now thanks guys.
Great game, when that song started playing it brought me to tears, just like when the last song in Bastion plays... Supergiant Games, whatever you make I'm gonna buy, you're awesome.
One of the things I love about all of the songs in this game is that they're all stories. It's like both of the musicians actually went and sang these to spread the tale. Great game also
*Spoilers* The one character I was truly emotionally attached to, even more than the others, was the Moon-Touched Girl, Rhea for me. I wanted her to be happy so badly, it broke my heart when I liberated her, because she was happy with her friends in the wagon. Having also given their freedom to The Fate, I sincerely hoped from all my heart Aldmer and Rhea would meet again up above. In the end, when I was told they met each other again and started a long-lasting relationship to continue the Oldheart bloodline, I cried of joy, I cried so, so much. Never have I been so happy for a fictional character before.
Her name is Shae in mine. I felt the same, but I freed her last (the end of the cycle came unexpectedly for me). On that last moment, on the edge of the waterfall, she decided to gave the freedom to me instead, which broke my heart. Of course I gave it back to her in a heartbeat...
Spoiler too ~ mine is Gae the gray , the stowaway really have a mysterious backstory , why don't have anyone can make you expelled from commonwealth ? its truly terrible , she's the first i try to liberate but then the triumvirate speak in his mine and i changed my mind (its my first play) , and Gae is the last nightwing i liberate , (and i free myself at the end leaving pamitha, volfred, berthrude, and tizo) i don't know that the stowaway really make a great impact , i always believed her at first time that she can hear the scribe , and when i know that she got a place that fit her .. damn i cried along reading all story after the rite end ... i've. never felt this way on fictional character.. and i cry and have a goosebumps when the game play this song (with a little different lyric)
I felt the same about Jodariel. I was so unsure about whether to anoint her or wait until the next one, wanting her to stay with me the whole time. Eventually I decided I was being selfish and she should be freed. The last 4 hours of the game just seemed empty without her to me.
Hedwyn was my favorite, ti'zo a close second, but Hedwyn was just fantastic, some people find him as just the character filling a role into the rites, but he was loyal and caring for his teammates, I was sad when he had to go, but finishing the game feels great, now I just want a sequel to fix the entire situation into the downside, this game is a masterpiece and well worth your money.
Less so than you'd think - Yes the names of the entire cast are revealed (including, e.g., that Sandalwood eventually joins the party) but this version is not the one that you'll hear at the end of your playthrough. For starters, the Reader's pronoun in this song changes depending on the pronoun you had Hedwyn use for the Reader during the opening scene.
Leave it to Supergiant Games to do in 16 or so hours what society has failed to do for centuries: make literacy super badass. Guess I'll just go read something after I finish getting all of the trophies for this game, dammit.
(SPOILER ALERT) I'm not gonna lie, the voice had me doubting my very actions once the stars began to fade. I began to worry that Sandalwood may betray the rebellion he created if I handed him his freedom. Even when Sandalwood revealed who the Voice was, it was cause for concern to why a former Nightwing would wish to keep the exiles from regaining their freedom. But, as I refused to force any more of my party to suffer in downside, I stayed true till then end to ensure as many of my friends as I could saw their freedom once again. I kept only Ti'zo and Sir Gilman in downside. I felt that Ti'zo didn't mind because it was his home, and for some reason Sir Gilman was never an option until the last rite, even though he was max level, at which I felt it was Sandalwood's turn to see his insurgency through.
They need to reach a certain threshold regarding enlightenment to get to go. If you only use one character fur each fight you'll be able to send that one home.
@@itzartorias9962 I would have so loved to set both him and Sandalwood free, but alas it is no an option. And when he refused to honour his own original ideals, to make a better future so no-one else would be thrown down, I just couldn't in good consciousness pick him =(
Just finished playing this game, not many keep my interest beyond the first playthrough, but I had to go back and do a second to see if I could get all the Nightwings together (or as much as possible)
I'm so late to the party, but I just beat this game. and I loved it. 100%. I might go so far as to say that this is my favorite Supergiant Games game to date. They always meet expectations and go far beyond them. Amazing team, amazing games. Love you all, Supergiant team.
Love the track so much, although I really do wish they would sell or do a separate album with all of the variations of this song, as I really want to have the version I got to play on my phone!
The Wreck of the Pyre Fitzgerald. Legendary. Bought this soundtrack on Bandcamp and it was a whopping 2.2GB, and 96khz 24bit. I'm not an audiophile, but I really appreciate that.
Does anyone think the Bastion world and the world of Pyre could be the same place? They say the Commonwealth is high up in the sky, impossible to reach even by flying, so maybe it’s floating due to the Calamity, and the ravaged world below is what remains of the planet after the Calamity happened? They say the Rites have been going on for generations, so if that’s all true, then Pyre takes place ages after Bastion, but I think it’s still possible it’s the same universe. I remember reading somewhere, I think, one of the developers said the “gibberish” the Ura speak in Bastion is actually a language they made up, with translations and everything. And that it’s the same language of “gibberish” that the characters speak in Pyre.
“Hedwyn was there, and proved to all that he was no deserter. He stayed true to the end.”
*tears in eyes* Nice.
Nice.

HOW THE FUCK DO YOU DO IT? SERIOUSLY HOW? EVERY SINGLE OST SUPERGIANT MAKES IS A MASTERPIECE
Rakka Darren Korb is a great artist and you should go on Twitter and tell him. He reads every tag.
Already did.
For a big amount of reasons:

- they are a very small team (12 people if I recall correctly) so they can directly communicate with each other very easily
- they take time with their games
- they don't overhype the game, just an announcement trailer and then an OST right before release
- the trailer had actual in-game footage(something very rare these days)
- they don't lie about their games or make promises they can't keep, like a lot of devs do
- they don't have any DLC's
That's all I can think of from the top of my head.

Their journey began
On a barren waste where the reader arrived
Afraid and alone
When they arrived
The Book of Rites awakened the Nightwings
And ignited the flame
They follow the stars
Bound together
Strands in a braid 'til the end
We sing of the last
Of the Nightwings who
Having broken the cycle
Shall live on in song
Hedwyn was there
And proved to all that he was no deserter
He stayed true 'til the end
Captain Jodariel
Keeping watch over all of the Nightwings
She stayed true 'til the end
Rukey Greentail
Small in size but vast in commitment
He stayed true 'til the end
They follow the stars
Bound together
Strands in a braid 'til the end
The Moon-Touched Girl
Hears the Scribes in the world all around her
She stayed true 'til the end
Ti'zo the wise
Ever faithful to the cause of the Nightwings
He stayed true 'til the end
Sir Gilman the bold
Ever in his quest, finding honor in glory
He stayed true 'til the end
Pamitha Theyn
Borne on guilty wings, ever seeking forgiveness
She stayed true 'til the end
They follow the stars
Bound together
Strands in a braid 'til the end
Bound together
Spirits tethered
Strands unbroken
Scribes awoken
The great mastermind
Volfred Sandlewood saw his plans turn to action
He stayed true 'til the end
The bog-dweller Bertrude
Kept her foes at bay with her finest enchantments
She stayed true 'til the end
The reader at last
Made the Nightwings whole, having bound them together
They stayed true 'til the end
They follow the stars
Bound together
Strands in a braid 'til the end
They follow the stars
Bound together
Strands in a braid 'til the end
Now at the end
As we bid farewell and return to the stars
We shall find our way home
We shall find our way home
We shall find our way home

Well i allready bought the album, but i'm a simple man.
I see Darren korb soundtrack, i click it.
Pyre: "We shall find our way home" - Bastion:"I'm coming home, sweet home"
Jonne Ojennus transistor: “moving home to the country”
@@pallingtontheshrike6374 Huh... I'll keep an eye (ear) out in Hades.
@@gaminggeckos4388 "Home is not where you live, but who cares when you're gone"
i love how this song describes the personalities of the characters of the nightwings
it sounds weird in the song
that's the point. you are literally pointing out the obvious. it's about their personalities and what happened to them after the end. wheter they stayed true to their convictions or not,and wheter they got freedom. (music changes slightly depending on who you free in-game to "remained in the end".)
And don't forget ''Found a way home'', too!
Spoilers ahead:
If you think about it, as long as you keep at least 2 of your party together, none of them will ever feel abandoned... and in the end, i like to think that they all reunited amongst the stars, fae certainly made me believe that there is more to the scribes than just dead stars and the constellation-like image of everybody in the party. that in the end filled me with hope that our crew will finally follow completely in their footsteps
This song genuinely deserves some kinda of award or something.
Congrats on making yet another masterpiece, Supergiant!
I want to hear my version again. I was crying my eyes out! It was so perfect.
Albert Stolz the nightwings one
I read this in his voice, too.
How dare you?!?! You made me remember Bastion.... *cries again*
Still too soon....
...But HE did.
I just love your analyse too much, it's just on point !
But the game do love the number Ten.
best credits theme, period.
Can we agree that they're all great?
But this song is special to everyone who listens due to it being dynamically generates for each who listen making it you the reader’s story of the Nightwings according to who gains their freedom
"Hedwyn was there" you're god damn right he was
I beat the game yesterday.
I haven't been able to stop listening to this ever since I first heard it months ago. I need more.
SPOILERS
I loved how Oralech had 1 Hope... Small details like that makes the game a masterpiece... The story-based ending song... Man, you guys are mind-blowingly fantastic. I don't even know what to say anymore. Please never stop making games.
Oh! What a great observation!
No wonder he took forever to come back.
DaCurtis
You can earn your freedom and not have Oralech die
He can get to zero
very late reply but if you just barely lose to oralech, he gives up his freedom to you and doesn't kill himself afterwards
Was amazing when I finally beat the game and just enjoyed the music remembering all my moments with the Nightwings.
I love these guys. Because they are improving game design things and be an example for other game companies
Please don't leave us Supergiant we don't have so many emotional games(with nice gameplays). And you can do it you prove it to us.
Edit: I finished pyre 3 years ago but, I remember all characters and who is stayed behind. I am emotional now thanks guys.
I downloaded a cracked copy of this, finished it and inmediatly bought it. This sums up my feelings about this team of wonderful people.
Great game, when that song started playing it brought me to tears, just like when the last song in Bastion plays... Supergiant Games, whatever you make I'm gonna buy, you're awesome.
The selection of instruments is just so right and colourful. That 4:20 tuba sound!
Listen to "Mother I'm Here", "Paper Boats", and this all in a row and tell me how long you last without any emotions :)
For transistor do blank canvas with humming
Add In the Blood to that
Pyre is easily the most emotional of the 4 Supergiant games imo
One of the things I love about all of the songs in this game is that they're all stories. It's like both of the musicians actually went and sang these to spread the tale.
Great game also
OOOH BOY, HERE WE GO
fell in love with every character such a good ending song tht made me feel complete at the end ;-;
M8, I never even played this game and this song gives me the tingles every time... Shit's brilliant, pure and simple.
Sir Gilman the bold
Ever in his quest, finding honor in glory
My man was there till the end, as a true knight would've done
You guys are truly the SUPERGIANTS in game industry
*Spoilers*
The one character I was truly emotionally attached to, even more than the others, was the Moon-Touched Girl, Rhea for me.
Dalbert would be proud!
Her name is Shae in mine. I felt the same, but I freed her last (the end of the cycle came unexpectedly for me). On that last moment, on the edge of the waterfall, she decided to gave the freedom to me instead, which broke my heart. Of course I gave it back to her in a heartbeat...
Oh... Oh, I should have done this.
Spoiler too ~ mine is Gae the gray , the stowaway really have a mysterious backstory , why don't have anyone can make you expelled from commonwealth ? its truly terrible , she's the first i try to liberate but then the triumvirate speak in his mine and i changed my mind (its my first play) , and Gae is the last nightwing i liberate , (and i free myself at the end leaving pamitha, volfred, berthrude, and tizo)
i don't know that the stowaway really make a great impact , i always believed her at first time that she can hear the scribe , and when i know that she got a place that fit her .. damn i cried along reading all story after the rite end ... i've. never felt this way on fictional character..
and i cry and have a goosebumps when the game play this song (with a little different lyric)
I felt the same about Jodariel. I was so unsure about whether to anoint her or wait until the next one, wanting her to stay with me the whole time. Eventually I decided I was being selfish and she should be freed. The last 4 hours of the game just seemed empty without her to me.
literally in tears every time I listen to this masterpiece
best game ever
Hedwyn was my favorite, ti'zo a close second, but Hedwyn was just fantastic, some people find him as just the character filling a role into the rites, but he was loyal and caring for his teammates, I was sad when he had to go, but finishing the game feels great, now I just want a sequel to fix the entire situation into the downside, this game is a masterpiece and well worth your money.
The first to go, the first in the heart
Every now and again, I decide that I really want to fuck myself up, so I come back to this song and give it a quick listen. Works every time.
I wish there was a way to see only the ending when you load a save, so i could repeat my song again and again
This is the most Tenacious D thing I've ever heard in my life and i love it.
"slow down with the feelings, i have a limited amount of tears"
I cried too much during the game, then this song showed up, and here I am... *crying buckets once more*
Astonishing soundtrack as usual ♡
Sounds fucking great, good job!
Absolutely spectacular. Well done to all. I will always but anything your guys make. Just so original and beautifully constructed.
*My subscriptions tab are now 99% Supergiant Games*
My favorite song
Oh! so this one is the spoiler song.
Not as much as it seems. This is the "neutral" song. The verses change depending on what you did throughout the game.
@@importunoproducoes2318 it's even worse, this one is the most spoiler song, there is the names and who is the character for all
Leave it to Supergiant Games to do in 16 or so hours what society has failed to do for centuries: make literacy super badass.
Guess I'll just go read something after I finish getting all of the trophies for this game, dammit.
(SPOILER ALERT)
I'm not gonna lie, the voice had me doubting my very actions once the stars began to fade.
If you only use one character fur each fight you'll be able to send that one home.
wtf man u just left oraleach in the downside after what he suffer
left*
@@itzartorias9962 I would have so loved to set both him and Sandalwood free, but alas it is no an option. And when he refused to honour his own original ideals, to make a better future so no-one else would be thrown down, I just couldn't in good consciousness pick him =(
May the Nightwings shine on like the crazy diamonds they are!
ALREADY DOWNLOADING STOP TEASING ME!
Can't stop crying,it's wonderful
Just finished playing this game, not many keep my interest beyond the first playthrough, but I had to go back and do a second to see if I could get all the Nightwings together (or as much as possible)
HOLY MOLY 39 songs?!. I guess i will die soon in listening to the beautiful soundtrack
Haven't played the game yet...got chills...bought the game
I'm so late to the party, but I just beat this game. and I loved it. 100%.
I might go so far as to say that this is my favorite Supergiant Games game to date. They always meet expectations and go far beyond them. Amazing team, amazing games. Love you all, Supergiant team.
Love the track so much, although I really do wish they would sell or do a separate album with all of the variations of this song, as I really want to have the version I got to play on my phone!
I even shiver with this song ! I'm cried a lots in my end !
I've comitted a sin, I'm listening to this even though I never played this game. Sorry, I don't have the hardware needed. Great song, though.
played this song after completing my final exam for CS 350 intro to software development. Our group stayed true to the end.
every time darren korb and ashley barrett sing together i get emotional
i was waiting for this
"We sing of the last... of the NIghtw--" I'm a mess
Farwell Captain Jodariel. Farewell Sir Gilman the bold. Farewell Nightwings. We stayed true to the end.
Damn when I first heard this song in the credits where all my choices were reflected upon it... :'(
We shall reunite someday among the stars.
🐫 cool
Can we have an animated series adaptation of Pyre, please? :3
i want to play this rigth now.
You are a robot if you didn't cry at the end of this game.
I teared up at the end.
PYRE IS SUCH A GOOD GAME GOSH
I'VE NEVER EVEN PLAYED THIS GAME AND I'M CRYING
Well now my sub box is full of music.. Guess I'll give it a listen :P
Getting some major Tenacious D vibes from this and I fucking love it. I need this game.
LOVE IT!
R.I.P sub box
worth it
Mere distance cannot separate us.
I am not crying.... you are!
Man, I haven't played this game yet, but this song is awesome!
Pyre might be the most beautiful game I've played
The feels man.
Darren Korb and Yoann Laulan should do a colab, I hope there isn't anyone who objects.
god i havent even finished the game yet and still this tears up my eyes
