You had me laughing with Casanova! I do love Machen , so I should read it. Of course, I’m overjoyed to hear you talk about Robert E. Howard! Hard to pick my favorite of his stories. The Shadow Kingdom would rate highly. So many of the Conan stories as well. I like The Hour of the Dragon an awful lot. Worms of the Earth might be his best…maybe. I have been thinking of getting the Great Book of Amber for years so I think I’ll finally pick that up.

Hahaha, thanks, Michael! Shadow Kingdom and Worms of the Earth are great! I will plan to reread Hour of the Dragon.
Have you read Zelazny’s Amber books?
      Best, Jack

I'm enjoying this playlist on this rainy Sunday.
If you could travel to any country through its literature, which one would you choose?

I know that feeling. Dangerous Visions is worth the wait and will not disappoint. The second volume is also excellent if you stumble across that first. I hope you’re having a great day, Nancy.

Great shelf. I like Zelazny's Lord of Light, but despite my brother touting it for about 30 yrs, I still have never gotten around to his Amber series. Dangerous Visions is so good. I only have a reprint paperback. Need to find the sequel. Your original editions are spectacular. Hard to pick a favorite story. I really like the short quasi-athiestic pieces, like evensong and shall the dust praise, but also the self-referential stuff like Toy for Juliette and Prowler. Also like the Happy Breed, started me on a John Sladek kick.

Those are some great selections from the Dangerous Visions! Evensong is interesting, as is A Toy for Juliette. I don’t think I’ve read Shall the Dust Praise yet. Aye, and Gomorrah might be near the top on my list. Looking forward to continuing in this volume. The sequel is excellent if you can find a copy! I hope this week started well for you, David!
      Best, Jack
