Tried doing the sunset and sunrise and that didn't work also tried the timer and nothing. Any videos on just that topic would be greatly appreciated.

JB, I appreciate your review and your videos. I do have a question about these new Costco Elites. You stated on a reply that you can cut/trim the lights. The question is, do the lughts need to be cut off in a section? Like do 4 lights cut off at a time or singles can be trimmed. The reason is I need just about 5 feet of a 16.7 foot section so i need to trim a lot on one end as the final section. Appreciate your help and video, you help a lot.
You can cut off as many as you need. There are 12lights in a strand. At least leave one light. So if you installed 8 strands and 1 light, under the device settings the segments need to read 9 anyway. When transitioning to soffits, splice and continue in sequence install and don’t rotate your strand or mix them up
Great idea but the leds are one directional. Regardless if the connections are swapped, the extension for jumps are swapped and the ferrite beads in the extension respond to it in that direction

Can you install these without using the clips and just adding more adhesive to the soffit? Also can these lights be cut to custom fit certain lengths around the home? Thank you!
You can try them without it but I’ve had multiple installs in past fail the hold. Never rely on the 3M. Buy 3D mounts if you don’t like the brackets they come with. Yes you can splice and it will still work

Two 150ft starting at the same outlet is fine if you’re going to create your own scenes to fix the direction of the chase. Govee presets will work only in one direction. @tomwalsh2468 this video was made before the G2 were released. To answer your question on the G2 extensions working for the elites, yes you’re correct. Same goes for the lighting strands and controller
They are the same in strands, Govee extensions but not model type. One is exclusive to in stores and the other is Govee, Amazon. They can’t sync in the app if you have two different models. Pros are the best
Your videos are pure gold! I just purchased Govee Elite 150' from Costco. Can you please recommend an installer in the Dallas-Fortworth area (McKinney)
These Govee outdoor permanent lights barely pull juice from an outlet. What I would do is install one then install the other after the last strand of the first kit so it looks continuous. You can group them in the app to work as one
If you connect from one outlet and install in opposite directions, you won’t be able to change the direction of the chase on the scene for Govee presets so you’ll see point A where they steam away from each other. I was saying install one kit and the last kit needs to start where the first one ended so it looks continuous when grouped in the app.
Almost done setting up I did a set on the upper half of my roof and another set on tbe the lower half of my roof. What did you mean by grouping them together. Not sure if it would work the way I set them up but just trying to figure out how to group them to see
On the site it says you can’t cut non pros(H705 A,B & C) but people have taken that into consideration and not done it only because they don’t want to loose their warranty. Can it be done, yes absolutely on both versions. It will still work if you properly bring them back together or understand voltage drop for the length you trying to jump. Personally, we chose to make all the factory connections end up at our jumps so there is less splicing and more work for us
@@jbsdiytv Can you do this (cutting & extending 3 foot sections) multiple times within a 150 ft. strand? From what I saw it looks like it comes with 4 extenders already but I may have a section or two that needs a 2 foot extender here and there.

Matter is a secure, open protocol that allows smart home devices to communicate with mobile apps, cloud services, and other devices. You’ll find some Govee devices that support it. Pros and Elites have it for sure
Nice video. Exactly i was looking for the same content. You are the only channel with Elite. But not sure why you are comparing Elite with Non pro. I would appreciate if you could compare white of pro with elite. Even im interested to see colored ones as well. Pro support upto 6000k where as elite is only 4k. Do you see much difference in cool white?
You are correct about the 6000k vs 4000K. The reason that I’m not comparing pros with elites is that’s what is on my home currently. I do have strands from the pros but I do not have a power supply and controller to compare those. I think for the Kelvins it has, either version is bright regardless. Elites you can’t easily splice like the pros. I will recommend the pros as an installer and because of their slick look on the nicer homes. Pros warranty’s if you splice vs elites probably not but it’s Costco🤷♂️, you can take anything back lol. Elites 150ft $329, pros 150ft $549. Thanks for watching
So they come in white only and I mean like the pro’s white or black? What if you needed two sets for an install more than 150 feet? Can you get extra modules from Govee for the Elite? Since they are not the same as the regular and pros is the modules different to exceed the 150 ft or more? I hope you understand my questions? Thank you again I love your videos.
@bpage6636 Hope you are doing well. Long time no hear from you. Yes I understand your question. You can buy two of these kits and group them in the app to work as one system. These Costco Govee Elites are an exclusive product only and it’s literally in its own category like I mentioned in the video. The connections have been swamped and so that means any of the other versions will not work on this model. The LED Module Driver from the pros you speak of is used for 150ft-200ft. You won’t be able to use it on the elites because again, the connections are backwards. Govee knew people would do this and try and use other products for pros and non pros and the elites. @@AnthonyRusso yes sir. Wish they were better but there is a reason for what Govee does. Like the swap of the factory connections was smart. You have any links to better mounts for these specific govee elite pucks?

Hello..Great video on Govee outdoor lights from Costco..in video you mentioned 3d light bracket instead of using brackets that came with Govee box..can you provide more info on 3d bracket?
Thank you for the support.
Yes, 3D mounts are designs by sellers who took the shape of the puck light and created a 3D mold off a STL file. They use UV and weather resistant material to create for Govee non pro, pro and elite versions. Visit these trusted sellers below and I also have a link to my page where you can find them there as well. See below

@@jbsdiytvWhere can we find these 3D light brackets? Is there a link? Thank you.
Very helpful. I personally don’t mind the clips…I have white a soffit and the eve is pretty high off the ground so it won’t be seen and I can actually use the tiny vent holes in the soffit for the screws instead of making new holes
How’re the mounts holding up?
About 30 houses have them. They are great👍
Elite are rebranded regular lights with a few accessories. If you want the pro version these are not it
@@Maverick_1373 yup your correct. These are not pros. Upgrade from the non pros and mimic to the Govee outdoor lights 2
That’s all I needed to know. Thank you
Are they worth it or do you recommend the pros?
Hey do you know if two 150 feet can be connected making it 300 feet
great video.. thank you. i have 2 storey house. i bought 2 - 150ft from coscto. first level needs 100ft and 2nd floor roof needs 200ft. i understand govee warranty doesnt allow splice but is it doable and recommend to do it?
@@vikasmehta7260 herd u just need a bigger power unit no need to splice I herd u can work 2 off same power supply but needs to be a bigger power inquire with electric person or hardware store
That’s incorrect. The app will not read pass 150ft and the power bricks are 2amp. 2 kits is equivalent to 4amps which one can’t handle. You will need to group them in the app to work as one. Splicing can be done and works but your liable for all possible fault connections and water intrusion
@@jbsdiytv let me know if ur idea works I know I want to do same as u 2story 🏠 front sides back I might need 3 boxes maybe 4 they say whole house is 1,812 sq ft. So I really not good measure. How much will need and will need electrician
@@jbsdiytv hey what state u say ur in Texas. I'm in Vegas. If I flew u out here for weekend would u install for me . Then u can enjoy sincity for couple nights
Yup you know I would. And yes our methods work as we have installed over 120 installs in Texas. I wouldn’t fly, I would drive as I have all my items I need with me
So I assume these are the govee outdoor lights 2, right?
These are elites sold at Costco, Sam’s, Best Buy and Lowe’s
Same specs as G2’s but different model types
@@jbsdiytv - my costco already stopped carrying them. Just got 100ft G2 for $239 on prime sale.
@Average_Middle_Aged_American you can find them at Best Buy, Sam’s, and Lowes
Are the extension cables that go between each strand universal?
The strands on the elites can be used on the Govee Outdoor Lights 2 and vise versa since their connectors are swapped. Same goes for the extensions. This is not the case for pros and Gen 1 non pros
I understand that the stands of lights don't work with the reversed connections but would extensions from an elite/outdoor 2 work to extend between light sections of the original govee perm outdoor?
@tomwalsh2468 this video was made before the G2 were released. To answer your question on the G2 extensions working for the elites, yes you’re correct. Same goes for the lighting strands and controller
With this model can you turn off some of the lights (for when it’s not Christmas)
Hi JB, does elite & govee lights 2 is same thing or any different? Because pro is different ? Can u tell me please?
They are the same in strands, Govee extensions but not model type. One is exclusive to in stores and the other is Govee, Amazon. They can’t sync in the app if you have two different models. Pros are the best
Your videos are pure gold! I just purchased Govee Elite 150' from Costco. Can you please recommend an installer in the Dallas-Fortworth area (McKinney)
What do you do if a house only has exposed joists and no soffit panels?
Place them in tracks or run a 1x2 across and install them on that.
I have 2 boxes of the elites can I run them all off 1 outlet or will that over load the power adapter box?
These Govee outdoor permanent lights barely pull juice from an outlet. What I would do is install one then install the other after the last strand of the first kit so it looks continuous. You can group them in the app to work as one
So I can connect my second box right to the first one? And run them all off of one outlet?
If you connect from one outlet and install in opposite directions, you won’t be able to change the direction of the chase on the scene for Govee presets so you’ll see point A where they steam away from each other. I was saying install one kit and the last kit needs to start where the first one ended so it looks continuous when grouped in the app.
Ohhhh I understand what you’re saying. Thanks for the info!
Almost done setting up I did a set on the upper half of my roof and another set on tbe the lower half of my roof. What did you mean by grouping them together. Not sure if it would work the way I set them up but just trying to figure out how to group them to see
Hey there JB I am need of a govee outdoor lights pro controller what would you suggest ?
One last question..can you cut and splice Govee Elite govee outdoor light?
On the site it says you can’t cut non pros(H705 A,B & C) but people have taken that into consideration and not done it only because they don’t want to loose their warranty. Can it be done, yes absolutely on both versions. It will still work if you properly bring them back together or understand voltage drop for the length you trying to jump. Personally, we chose to make all the factory connections end up at our jumps so there is less splicing and more work for us
Can we able to cut the wires and extend in elite version ?
Your able to cut them and extend about 1-3ft only to make a jump of that’s what your asking. Use 18/3 wire
@@jbsdiytv Can you do this (cutting & extending 3 foot sections) multiple times within a 150 ft. strand? From what I saw it looks like it comes with 4 extenders already but I may have a section or two that needs a 2 foot extender here and there.
Yes I’ve done little jumps before even after using all the extensions. Just use the correct heat shrink solder butt connectors and sleeve it after with white or black silicone sleeve
It looks great.. What type of screws did you use? Size ?
Does anyone know how many lights can be controlled at once? I know one set is 108 lights. If i buy to sets can they be put together or do they need to be remain seperate?
Can you trim off the excess?
Is one box enough or do you recommend 2 box from the Costco 150ft.
It’s difficult to say what you will need. May have 1000sq ft or maybe 5000sq ft of a home roofline
Are these the same measured lumens brightness as the pros?
@@nominal no, these go up to 4000K vs the pros go up to 6500K
I had the regular one at the front of the house and now replaced them with the elite and put the others on the back side. However on the white it seems like the regular is brighter. Is that correct or am i doing something wrong? Thanks for the video. Bought the elite because of it.
According to an email from Govee. The lumens per each light are 26, 45, and 50. That's Original, Elite, then Pro. Hope that helps.
@@jbsdiytv - lumens is brightness, Kelvin in color (temperature). Two different measurements.
@@djrezharoldtavarez7146 - perhaps it is due to the size of the LED. The separate white LED on elite looks smaller than the combined LED on the standard. Color is more accurate but other LED is using multiple colors together for white. Try adjusted less yellow on the elite.
When did you get these from Costco and what was the price
@jdz3169 I got these on July 17th, 2024. Asked management when they were stocked and they said same day. I check 3 other Costcos north of San Antonio and they all had them as well. $329 even
They are also stocked for $329 here in Fort Worth TX. I couldn’t find them online, only in the store
@@TexasRivermedic awesome. Yeah only in store and won’t be online as of right now
I'm there now and they are $329.99
@@davidholland4499 yup that’s correct. Congrats on finding a kit for yourself
How would one start to find a local installer 2 story house, idk what to look up, for albuquerque new mexico
Is that power box and adapter waterproof?
It’s says the controller is waterproof and the power adapter states to place in dry place. So I would protect both
Can you suggest me which one good, original version or elite? and which one has good warm color
Excellent. Thanks JB. I picked up two black from Costco and looking forward to watching more of yours on installation. Like and Subscribe. So if there is extra light string at the end, can you cut, splice and then put the end plug?
Yes you can splice and seal it off. Make sure it still reads a full segment in the app like you never cut it before
What is “matter” in the box mean by
Matter is a secure, open protocol that allows smart home devices to communicate with mobile apps, cloud services, and other devices. You’ll find some Govee devices that support it. Pros and Elites have it for sure
Got your 100th like can these be spliced? My roof line has many jumps but would be less then 150ft
Sorry missed your message. Yes they can be spliced. Use solder sleeve heat shrink bitt connectors to make a solid connection
amzn.to/4dDGLWw
Nice review. Of course these come out after I bought the regulars and can't return now. Was looking for Matter enabled for HomeKit!
😁Govee knows what they are doing and have you buying more. Yeah they tricked us all
@@jbsdiytv Amazon just had Prime days and the 150ft Pro's were $379.99. My daughter talked me into getting them. Now to figure out how to install.

Thanks for the review. From Govee, we appreciate it. Cheers.
Thanks for watching and your comment. It has been great partnering and affiliating with Govee. Cheers right back🍻
Give the man some free stuff! This video alone helped me feel knowledgeable in purchasing two boxes now.
@nllandry my family and I appreciate the support🙏 thank you for watching the video
What colors?
@@bpage6636 when I mentioned control colors, I was referring to the solid colors. Sorry for the confusion there
So they come in white only and I mean like the pro’s white or black?
In the beginning of the video I mentioned that the kits come in white and black strands

Hello, thank so much for your response. I reached out to Govee in reference to the Govee elites from Costco and was told that you are unable to connect two sets together. Since you are an installer I wanted to know if there is something you know that they don’t?
@bpage6636 that’s true, you can’t install two sets but can group them in the app to act as one system
Great job as always
You’re very welcome. Thank you for the support. Please don’t hesitate to ask another questions about this product or any other
I set mine up BEFORE turning them on… and they won’t connect to my iPhone app 😭💀. Probably the worst purchase I’ve made in a long time.
Right now there is Govee Outage. Wait a little while. Even my lights are not connecting
@@jbsdiytv - I have the regulars and hate the app. Will the elites use the same app? Once they are programmed for daily timer, does the controller have to be connected to Wi-Fi? Thanks your videos and help!
@Average_Middle_Aged_American yes sir, all Govee products use the same app
@@jbsdiytv - wifi has to stay connected?
@Average_Middle_Aged_American sorry I’ve been busy with Govee installs. Yes if you have one device, Bluetooth and WiFi need to be on. Two devices WiFi I activates when the device is turned on by a smart outlet or attached to Alexa, google or Matter
Are the light pucks the same dimension as the non-pro? Wondering if I get 3d printed non-pro clips would they fit
Yes they are the same dimensions. Non pro 3D mounts will work
Nice
@@absolutelydialedgraphics thanks bro. 🙏Much appreciated
Thanks,JB. Nice work.
I'll stick with the govee outdoor lights pro version. 😁
😂some would think the same way. Some will have 3D mounts for non pros and then find this as an upgrade. A market for some lol
Will a string of these still work if excess lights are cut off one end? Assuming so as with other versions of Govee lights, but wondering if anyone can confirm.
It voids warranty if you splice but it can be done. You just have to count it as a full strand in segments so it reads all of them
Can you trim these lights at all?
You’re saying if you have 12 in a strand you would like to remove 6 lights? Yes that can be done but waterproof the ends. If you you install 8 1/2 strands it still needs to read 9 segments in the app
@@jbsdiytv I need to cut off 2 lights and then reconnect it to an end piece and attach it to more lights! Is this posssible?
@@TheCountryKingI’m wondering the same thing
Looks like I’m going to have 2 full strands then 4 lights. I plan to cut after the 4th light add about an 8ft extension then reconnect the strand.
If you 2 lights left, then splice them, you need to keep the strand in sequence when solo them back together. Can’t be placed at the end of an install
out of stock in Utah!
Thanks for the unboxing. I gotta say I agree with you about those mounts. They honestly look terrible and I'd rather just use screwed in clips.
@@AnthonyRusso yes sir. Wish they were better but there is a reason for what Govee does. Like the swap of the factory connections was smart. They don’t want you to use other products for this version because of liability, and for the cause of making extra sales. They were on top of that possibility of others thinking to do just that. They are pretty awesome and for everyone that is familiar with their actual pricing for outdoors lights, this is affordable for what it offers
Just got these for $70 off ended up $219

In a sense they are. Same features with the node of a specific warm and cool white. An upgrade from the H705 non pro models. Only difference here is that the models are different.
Elites (H806C) 150ft-45m
Govee Outdoor Permanent Lights 2 (H705F) 150ft-45m
