Nilgai are the toughest animals in North America. My guide has seen them soak up everything from a 300 Win to a 50 BMG. He told me after my first shot, to unload everything I had at him.... so I did. Fortunately, my first shot was a double lung shot. We slowed the footage down on the next 3 shots, and I barely missed over his back with all three shots. Guess I need to practice my 200 yard, free handed, 40 mph wind, running Nilgai shots more. 🤦♂️
@Paul Alexander .308 is fine for a Nilgai. It boils down to shot placement and bullet technology. You could bring down a Nilgai with a 22lr, if you shot it in the head. These animals are just tough, no matter what you shoot it with. They are going to run and bleed very little. My guide has cut them open before, and found 2, 300 win mag projectiles inside the animal... from the year before. Again, it's about shot placement and bullet technology. I would rather double lung them with a 308, than hit them in the guts with a 375.
@@mwquitab why the fuck are you watching hunting videos if you're against it!?!? Secondly... Nilgia was brought over in the 1930's and is thriving and needs to be managed like other animals do... by legal ethical hunters. Get off your stupid high horse and educate yourself. They're pretty common in Southern India. It literally means blue cow. Unfortunately there's a blanket ban on hunting in India. Sucks... I'd love to come over there sometime jus to hunt. Not rampant meaningless hunting. But hunting to eat; I'd love to pit my wits against that of the animal... See how I fare...

A lot more meat on that critter than a Tennessee Gray Squirrel, congratulations 22 Plinkster ps the reason he didn’t go down right away is because all three shots went in the same hole

These animals are better killed with a larger diameter premium bullet from a moderate speed cartridge like 8x57 or 9.3x62. Or a .375HH.
And that's why Texas is getting hit the way it is now....KARMA!! Leave those damn animals alone!!!!

Good job! You get to have too much fun!
Nilgai is some of the best tasting meat I've ever had. Kudos on a great hunt, Plinkster!
Congratulations good sir. Memories. Welcome to my homeland
Great beast man
Nice work, 22Plinkster. Definitely made me want go on another hunt.
Hello from S.Carolina
AWESOME! Oh man I want to get one. Any suggestions on a ranch or that ranch? Is that the same place Tim H. took his?
One day I was walking through the woods and found a piece of wood which read: "Here lies the body of Marvin Brown. The bullet went up, and the bear came down."
I was wondering if you had another video of a nilgai taken at my buddy Dale’s place.
Did you nail him with all 4 shots or did that last one hit a tree beautiful looking beast too how'd it taste?
I’m about 30 miles from that place. They’re just south of the King Ranch. Very cool!!
My brother shot a young buck yesterday at the King Ranch. I cant wait to get that meat. Btw that Henry 308 is nice. My brother used a 300wm
Imagine there’s a nilgai sleeping on the bed
Nice!!
Welcome to Texas @22plinkster u should come to south Texas RGV
I love to see a .308 LR in action. I want to use mine on a pig hunt. Let's go!
Couple of weeks back I saw a Nilgai cover 10 -12 metres in a SINGLE jump ! Crossing 2 lane road in one jump before raming into a on coming car !
Where all did you hit it? Look like the first one was in the front shoulder
Looks like you where shooting with a Henry. What caliber?

Did you hit all four shots?
Ik it’s at the arroyo but how do I get a hold of the guy
Sucker sure was limber to have shot him in the evening and not found him till next morning lol
What ranch was this at?
Henry Longg Ranger?
So when are you inviting everyone over for a Nilgai BBQ?
What ranch were you on?
I'm wondering too. I'm out of Uvalde, you?

I shoot them with my 6.5 creedmoor in the neck at about 200 to 300 yards and its over they might take 3 to 4 steps. Nonetheless good harvest
I kept forgetting their in Texas not Africa
looks like you gave youtube up!
young bull
Texas looks like Africa if you've watched hunting videos from there
I believe you killed somebody's milk cow.
Perhaps you should retitle the video to something more accurate like "my first hawke optics RUclips commercial."
They paid for the hunt, filmed the video, and paid for the production. I was just there to hunt.
I think i disagree. If you know the weather man is gonna be wrong cant you prepare for worst case scenario?

You killed an animal 😡
Fenced animals? Idk.
