💓 No one in my family canned. On my husband side of the family, everyone did, but none taught me. I learned on my own at the age of 53 or 54, and I love, love, love it. I have read and watched so many videos, but stuck to the ones that promoted safety. No canning rebels. I love this video. That soup looks amazing. I sense the aromas and flavors. Ummmmmm.

Mrs Sheila, this wonderful Vegetable soup recipe you so kindly shared with all of us & Canned with your beautiful Mother & Sister touched my heart 🙏🏻
What a blessing to learn & spend quality time with your Momma & Sister ,
My Grandma raised me with my daddy a Vietnam Veteran, My grandma lived to be 96 yrs old & told me & taught me all about living through the Depression, how she only had 1 pair of shoes & they had card board in them, My daddy also taught me to never live above your means , If you couldn't pay CASH then you saved for the item .
He only kept 2 CREDIT CARDS for emergencies only & would pay it off asap .
I'm grateful to have been raised by both of them as I raised my children the same way & my daddy taught them all to fish & hunt like he taught me .
Thank you for sharing these precious memories you will have for ever,
God bless you & Mr. Greg , your momma & Sister and whole family .
I'm planning my fall garden & will be placing my seed order this week , also when will SHORT DAY ONIONS BE AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER , AS THIS YEAR IM doubling my order , I'm almost out of the 300 I grew this past season lol.
    We loved the onions .

I love making and canning beef or venison vegetable soup. I never thought of putting feild peas and cream corn in it. Wonderful recipe I will be going back to look at this video. How wonderful that your mother is still canning and you get to enjoy it with her. I, like you grew up with a big garden and we sourced potatoes, peas and tomatoes from friends who had big farms. I remember dreading scraping potatoes, shelling peas or moving the sprinklers around in the gardens, hauling in truckloads of manure by wheel barrow and weeding. But now gardening, canning, and raising meat on our Homestead is my passion in life. My mom is still around but we live 4 hrs apart so we don't get to can much together.

How I miss my parents' garden and the canning they did in Fayetteville, Ga. They installed a canning kitchen in their basement. Fresh veggies came in the basement door (It was cooler down there), were processed and stored in their basement. In particular, I miss the pear preserves and the fig preserves.

I loved this video. This is my 1st yr canning and my son 33 said why didn’t I do all this when they were younger. I said I didn’t know how. I had no teaching. I started canning because my husband had a massive heart attack and I needed to know what was in his food and the amount of salt. I so regrets not learning yrs ago.

I have learned from time I was small no one had money for a pressure canner. We always had a bath canner. My grandma said what ever it says for pressure canner double it. And we fully cooked our food before canning it. We never got sick. If something didn't seal it went to the hogs and later had pork chops or a ham.
