They don't do commercials anymore as far as I know but they still sell their vegetables in the stores.
Love your Raven 🐦⬛ Moon 🌜pic 😸
My dear Jacob, yes his products are still available and we always buy his products seeing we enjoy the quality and taste,
My Mom grew up in Blue Earth, Minnesota and worked for Jolly Green Giant, doing something with the corn. All my family still lives there and we still have our corn and soybean farm. The Farmer’s Daughter is always our go to restaurant when we visit. So glad you got to visit!
Soy and corn is not healthy. Just saying.
When I was a child. I saved green giant labels to get a Green Giant kite
That’s so cool
Good morning, in south Central Canada we have green giant vegetables and they taste better and are never stale than any other vegetables. I always wait for them to go on sale so that I can buy lots.
Hi Jacob 👋 love seeing the nostalgic items. Brings back good memories 😌 I use to love that commercial. Ho Ho Ho Green Giant ♥
It looks way too cold for be wearing a green leotard in snow, but the green giant does it!
You need to check out the story of what's happening with the Gemini Giant in Wilmington Illinois. The lady that owns it is auctioning it off and says if it doesn't sell for what she wants it to go for she is going to destroy it. 😢
Update from IL..
The iconic Gemini Giant in Wilmington was purchased for $275,000 through an auction on Wednesday and will be staying in the Island City. Wilmington Mayor Ben Dietz said the Joliet Area Historical Museum placed the winning bid on the iconic Gemini Giant and then it was immediately donated to the City of Wilmington. It will be placed into storage for a short time and later placed at the South Island Park; along the Kankakee River 😎✌️
The Launching Pad - Drive In unfortunately, has closed 😪
Oh yeah, there are still Green Giant veggies. They're sold in the freezer area now and are very delicious. You could eat those as part of your diet too. What a fun statue. Green Giant candy treats. LoL
I heard snow was going the direction you were going. It does look cold!
Wow I can't believe the carpetbagger was 30 miles from me! I live not far from blue earth. I live in blue earth county
The first Jolly Green Giant commercial was in black and white in the late 50s or early 60s
Good Afternoon Jacob and Jennifer 🙋🏽.I know Jennifer is Not with Jacob but I still say hello to the both of them ‼️👋🏽
Remember "The Jolly Green Giant" pop song, by The Kingsmen?
In the valley of the jolly (ho, ho, ho)
Heard about the Jolly Green Giant (potatoes)
He's so big and mean (artichoke hearts)
He stands in his valley with his hands on his hips
And then he hits you with a can of beans
He lives down in his valley (brussels sprouts)
The cat stands tall and green (spinach)
Well, he ain't no prize, and there's no women his size
And that's why the cat's so mean
One day he left his valley pad
I mean to say this cat was mad
Now listen 'round he wasn't gone long
And then he ran into an Amazon
Now this changed his whole complexion (broccoli)
You have never seen such a beautiful sight (corn)
he looked at her and she looked at him
And she almost passed out from fright
He looked at her thought, "What a dilly"
He touched her once, she slapped him silly
This was something he'd never sensed
He looked at her and she commenced
"Now listen, pal, this ain't no fluke
I can't see goin' with no big green kook"
You've heard about the Jolly Green Giant (eggplant)
Don't let his troubles cross your mind (celery stalks)
He couldn't get Sally, so went back to his valley
The cat was color-blind
Carrots
Snap peas
That looks like a good place for me to go one day. Also, they don't use the Green Giant or Sprout in the commercials anymore, but the giant is still the face of their brand. Great video Jacob.
The Green Giant is still on the packaging. I love that Poppin' Fresh is buddies with the Green Giant, and Sprout!
Glad to see that Green Giant statue is well maintain by the town 🤗🤗🤗 have a safe drive Jacob
Hi Jacob, As a native born Minnesotan, it's exciting to hear/see you enjoying this state!
Green Giant does mostly frozen stuff now. Still on the packaging, but there have been no campaigns in a long time. I remember they still used the slogan in the early 2000's with live action commercials, mostly only seeing his shadow at the end
No, rice is not a vegetable. Rice is a type of grain. Grains are the seeds of certain plants, while vegetables are all other plant parts, such as roots, leaves and stems.
You were not that far from Mankato, MN which was referenced many times in the Little House on the Prairie TV series. This year is the 50th anniversary of that show and there's a reunion of the cast in California this weekend. You were also near Iowa which made me think of The Field of Dreams movie site in Dyersville, Iowa not too far from Dubuque. The are a couple small museums there besides the field. If you haven't seen the movie, I recommend that first because then it is more meaningful.
I just checked, my local supermarket is still selling Green Giant in the UK. Not seen a tv ad for it in many years. Used to get the corn as a kid, we never saw fresh corn where I lived back then.
My mother and father in law both worked at Green Giant in Wisconsin. My mom was a flapper girl. She made sure all the lids went on the cans. My father in law was a line worker.
Hey from Denver. Had a nightmare once when I was a kid about the Jolly Green Giant. Remember Sprout? ❤🎉😂
I'm from south-central Pennsylvania and my mother always called a knit winter hat a toboggan. The plastic sledding toy was always just called a saucer.
16:16 There is a museum dedicated to Charley the Tuna in Pittsburgh, PA at the Heinz History Center since Heinz owns Charley the Tuna.
Wow !!!!!!!!!! This is one of the best videos yet I’ve just recently moved to Albert Lea Mn as soon as I saw your video I jumped into my car and drove to see the Green guy Thanks for all the info ❤❤❤❤
Thankyou Jacob for your today adventure always fun with you ❤Drive safe 😊😊😊❤❤❤
Hello Carpet Bagger! I also remember the jingle," Ho ho green giant"!
Does anyone else notice that Sprout looks very much like Oblio from the movie The Point? I wonder if the same artist illustrated both of them? Great video Jacob 💚 I have many happy memories of the Green Giant and Sprout and my Mom's switch from canned vegetables to frozen... so much better 👍😹 As always, Thank You for bringing Us along with You 🙏💝😻
My dad knew all about the Golden Spike he was a huge train fanatic ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Oooh! Carpetbagger stickers and magnets in the Etsy shop please! 😊
Love your videos! ❤
Great video today.. I do know that they still sell Green Giant products in Tennessee.
My family donated that larger Sprout doll at 19:16 to the museum on a road trip visit a few years ago; cool to see it show up in your video!
How Fun!!! Thank you! I have a Little Sprout collection I just love, I feel like a Giant today! So fun to see this!
The Green Giant is currently roaming the Cascade mountains with Sasquatch- his cousin once removed.
I live all the way in Maryland and we have jolly green giant! I seem him the most in the frozen veggies section.
HO, HO, HO - Green💚Giant! 🥦 Great video, Jacob - very interesting statue, museum and I-90 in Minnesota!
Kudos to your RUclips Channel, Jacob!
I sent away for a Huge Green Giant Kite. . You had to send a certain amount of Greengiant labels and 3 dollars for postage. But I got my kite and flew it proudly when I was 10 ❤❤❤❤
Morning Jacob 🌞🤓📸 Ho, Ho, Ho The Green Giant. Thanks for sharing this.😊
Safe travels 🥾
Really enjoy your content Jacob!
I still Love Green Giant vegetables 🥦🥕🌽🫛
I remeber the old 80's 90's adds hehe. Even in Scotland. Greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen giant. :D
This video was so fun! I love vintage mascots and advertising so seeing an entire museum for them was so fun! Would love for you to find all the mascot museums to go to!
Proud of you for the shoes. Keep it up.
Fun Fact.. 🤔✌️
The Algonquian word had been adopted by French Canadians, and those who used toboggans for transport tended to wear warm woolen caps, called a toboggan hat.
I still enjoy Green Giant vegetables both caned and frozen. The brand is now owned by a smaller food company so that is why we properly do not see TV commercials for the brand today. However their products are usually available in most supermarkets.
He is still used now and then!
Enjoyed this very much!!
Carpetbagger getting back into Mid West Mood. " NIBLETS" is a good Carpetbagger word since Carpetbagger played Supermaket as a kid and not Motorcycle.
I'm so old instead of having a cassette tape and book from say the Disney movies. I had a record and the book of the Disney movie. I still have those records today.
B&G Foods (who owns Green Giant Foods) still has the Jolly Green Giant on their packaging and they show him on tv sometimes. Hope you enjoy it Jacob!
With all and his companion Little Sprout.
Yes, they still sell Green Giant brand vegetables and the brand is owned these days by B&G Foods.
Early peas are really good. They are smooth and hardy. They can actually be planted in the fall. They don't need perfectly ideal conditions to grow.
1:13 They still sell Green Giant vegetables at grocery stores nationwide including Walmart and Kroger. I love their Frozen Food vegetables.
I just saw the Weinermobile driving around in Michigan on Friday and thought of you! I remember the commercials but I don't remember Sprout too much for some reason. I absolutely had the fake food too. Lol It'll be nice when you can come back and go on a little hunt for the other statues. Thanks for braving the cold for this! : )
Hey now lol, when I was a kid in elementary and middle school my friends and I loved Tiger electronic games. Yeah they were cheap but the collectibility of them was cool and the 2 levels that would play over and over and faster the further you went was great too lol. It was an alternative to carrying those clunky Gameboy and Game Gears around lol.
Sprout is the Green Giant's hype man. Toboggan- it can mean either hat or sled here in central Ohio (need to go by context clues here) but I feel like the hat connotation is losing relevance, most people would say knit hat or ski hat. Toboggan seems like an old school word to me like "Davenport" for couch.
They still have Jolly Green Giant vegetables with him on the cans.
Eat vegetables to grow big and strong.
It’s a good message.
Green Giant vegetables are delicious. 💚
For all you folks that love the Green Giant & Sprout and you too Jacob. Here is a fact I got from Wikipedia:
Elmer "Len" Dresslar Jr. (March 25, 1925 - October 16, 2005) was an American voice actor and vocalist. He is best known as the deep bass voice of the Jolly Green Giant in commercials for General Mills.
Yea I’m from New York and long wooden 4 seater sleds were called toboggans 😊
The inflatable Green Giant was a little disconcerting. 🤣
I found out that the company still makes frozen veggies, but the canned veggie divison was sold to another company
General Mills sells the frozen veggies, we use to blend the frozen veggies where I work for GM till, they moved out to another plant.
Another awesome video as always Jacob keep up the awesome work and stay safe and warm out there
25:30 What penny would you get from the penny press? I would go w corn
Back when you/your parents saved labels off cans, I got a Sprout puffer kite by mail. I don’t think puffer kites are even a thing anymore, it was inflatable, rather than having a hard frame
The Jolly Green Giant never misses leg day
Sure does look greener against that backdrop of snow
Green Giant is still around. It’s owned by General Mills.
I never knew Pillsbury bought Green Giant.
I thought that was pretty interesting
That snow globe I think was made for static electricity. Rub it quickly on your sweatshirt next time. I had never seen one of those before. Kinda neat.
dude, every mom in America sending you a can :)) you'd make a good spokesman for them :))
Yep, the Green Giant still exists and they still sell their goods. Don't forget his sidekick, Sprout.
Sprout!! I always thought he was so cute! I remember the commercials.
I loved Sprout!
@@suemoo22
Me too, he was very curious on knowing on vegetables!
I’ve missed this in the past, but t-shirts and carpetbagger pressed pennies (tis on theme) would be awesome in the Etsy shop!
He has a T-shirt shop in the description
Smuckers in Orrville, Ohio purchased Pillsbury and they have a section for Pillsbury in their Simply Smuckers Store and Museum in Orrville.
I've been to Blue Earth a time or two. Surprised they don't have the giant scarf on him. This winter has been an unusual one though.
Oh yes ..those Books with cassetts with them . I had so many of them 😅
The Green Giant is still the Symbol they use on their Canned Food Proudly made in the USA❤
I Really Love this Museum brings back memories of my childhood.
The Greent Giant brand had mail-in Beanbag Dolls of both Green Giant and Sprout in the early 70s.
I Shop your Etsy All the time I own All of your pins that ever came out I still Need the Carpetbagger Squatch pin I will be buying next week.
I would like to see more pins coming up I Bought your Plush Doll
I Would Absolutely Love to see more merch in your store some mugs would be great.
I Just bought An "Oh that's Sweet Soda" Picture for my Carpetbagger Shelf.
Thank you for the Awesome video
Green Giant still exists, the Jolly Green Giant is on the labels but I haven't seen a commercial in years.
There is a Pillsbury Museum called the Mill City Museum in Minneapolis.
They still sell Green Giant products in Alabama especially at Piggly Wiggly and other local family owned grocery stores .I don't go to Walmart preferring to support local industries and businesses so I can't say about them .When on sale Green Giant is often lower in cost than store or generic brands and have both store and manufacturer coupons you can use along with the sale price so I stock up .Not uncommon to see people buying their products by the case at a time down here .
Yes they still sell green giant vegetables and they still use the green giant on the label , I actually have some cans in my pantry 😊
Interesting spot! You need to offer Puppetbagger dolls!

Was wondering if twas going to run into that snow! We're in SE Iowa and missed this round! Keep an eye on your weather, more possible Sunday-Monday!
Golly, the Jolly Green Giant is real!
Or was it the little sprout the TJ big boy statue 😂😂😂 he’s cute as the sprout ❤❤❤
Winter weather chased you from Colorado to Minnesota.
Here in the uk, they still sell them, and he's all over the corn and vegetable cans here . I haven't seen a commercial for a while but definitely still for sale i bought some today 😅
Lived in Minnesota all my life, quite a few years, 😂 never been to Blue Earth so it’s now on the things to do this summer. Also the Spam museum
Yes in England, we still have sweetcorn in cans Green Giant
FYI: Rice is a grain, NOT a Vegetable.
I giggled when he called Rice a vegetable 😅
The Gemini Giant in Illinois just got sold. Believe they are moving it in Wilmington somewhere.
I think you should do croc jibbitz in your Etsy shop
My friends down south informed us about the usage of tobbagen down there as well. That's weird if ask me. It's a sled!
green giant is being sold in norway
In case you feel like checking out some vegan restaurants in Detroit; there are a good amount of great ones. Safe travels💚🌟
