You dont need to dismiss your pet in dungeons, you can cast Eyes of the Beast, jump over the gap, then cancel the spell and tell the pet to stay. Then you can jump over yourself and just carry on. :) Great video!
@jame and you must have got his point wrong. What he meant is, that he could just walk of that cliff but instead he jumps which means that he will take some extra fall damage, since the initial height is higher than what it would be when he just walked down.
hahaha yea completely agree. if he wasnt lvl 60 he would have nicely pulled that mob on the side too. jumping first gives you the option of having a straight downfall, while just walking off the ledge will continuously move you forward during the entire fall. Makes the fall down to MC a lot easier with a jump initiating it. but in this case just... dumb.

Wow. That jump trick really brought the nostalgia hard. My first experience with WoW was actually watching the father's stoner friend (OK, not a stoner, but has that look) playing as a hunter. He jumped down from a rock, and the pet just runs all the way down, and said "See, pets are smart. They don't kill themselves by jumping off cliffs." Not totally sure why that has left such a strong impression to this day that I type it out in the comments of a video..
Also, instead of dragging food over to your pet, you can make a macro that when you click it, it feeds your pet a piece of food in a specific inventory slot that you can change. /cast Feed Pet /script PickupContainerItem (0,13); that will feed your pet the 13th slot in your main bag, or the bottom left one. You can change the numbers to change the bag/spot in the bag.
For #3, you will want Mongoose and Counterattack above Raptor Strike in priority because they do more damage, but you want Raptor Strike cooldown to show on the tooltip, so make sure to include #showtooltip Raptor Strike at the top. For #9, part of aggro management is taking Growl off auto cast. You don't need more than 1 Growl most of the time which you can manually cast, and unnecessary Growls cost Focus which should be used for DPS. For #1 and #10, at least as of this writing, Feign Death is wonky on the beta and will not chain into things like Shadowmeld or Freezing Trap as demonstrated in the video. There's a small delay, so macros won't work. The good news is that the delay was much longer a couple weeks ago so hopefully they are on the case and the delay will be completely removed in time for launch.
Don’t forget you don’t have to strafe your instantcast abilities. You can jump, turn 180 midair, fire your shot, and turn back before you land. Keeps your forward momentum while letting you see where you’re going better
My favorite tip: use a weapon with 3.2s - 3.4s attack time so that it times really well with raptor strike. Combined with the +20% raptor strike crit talent in survival, you can really get some serious DPS with hunter. I was out-threating a warrior tank 3 levels above me, and I wasn't even using distracting shot to do it. With this build, I can easily maintain enough threat to main tank basic instances. Survival really is the best talent tree.
Reading the chat at 2:15 "Hunter here. Half purple." "Kind of need caster. We have hunter." Get used to that folks for all you who grin through the leveling process to 60. The game experience completely reverses at that point. Now, if you're unemployed and actually have some mastery of the class, farm your own consumables, and so forth, you have a shot at a decent raid guild.
Something to add for your FD->Meld macro: with Classic macro scripting it will be possible to add drinking/eating in between FD and Shadowmeld so you can basically just reg back up in stealth, which can be quite a lifesaver in PvP :)
Top 10 Huntard Tips & Tricks 1. Always keep your pet on Aggressive 2. Don't bother to stock up on ammo, if you run out, you can just melee 3. You can use a very simple weak aura that will show you when your proc melee abilities are up, instead of using your bars. Also easier to see. Great video btw
FYI guys macros in this guide don't work because in Current classic /script and /run macros are not allowed and are blocked/disabled by blizzard. Macros that start with /script or /run will never be available in Live Classic Wow. You can only use basic macro commands like /use /cast /!AutoShot /petattack and such. Hope this helps
Dismissing pet decreases it's happiness by 50, if you tell it to STAY and then jump it will despawn from being out of range and only lose 10 happiness. Of course if it's on STAY and there's a patrol coming you better hope you get out of range quick :P
@ around 7:30, serpant sting actually generates alot of threat...if you start with aimedshot, itll give the pet time to get those melee shots off, the dots are generating threat while you are casting aimed if you open with serpant. ive got claw macrod to aimed shot so i can spam claw a few times for extra threat

For example I have a /cast Hunter's Mark(Rank#) /PetAttack Unless, the ranks are not important to list? The problem people are having with the macros is this. In the actual classic client, you cannot use macros that contain any /script. These are private server macros and the Blizzard client recognizes this and the macro will not register.
You can also make a macro which will auto feed your pet an item in a specific bag slot, so just keep food in that slow and hit the macro when you want to feed them
Bartimaeus something like /cast [combat] Mend Pet; [nocombat] Feed Pet /use [nocombat] 1 13 The 1 13 is bag 1 slot 13 - may not be the same as this on classic and also there are other ways to do the same thing
Source? Script macro's aren't banned, Blizzard would just disable the function like every other time they prevent an add-on from working they don't like.

Isn't it easier to just put the 'feed' action on the bar next to the food you bought so u just click feed + the 'food' icon next to it? Seems easier than dragging food from your bag to your pet or setting up macros and all that
This is what I use to initiate combat: /targetenemy [noharm] /cast Hunter's Mark /petattack Really simple. If you have an enemy targeted, it will run on it. Otherwise, it gets the nearest enemy in your view. If you have your pet abilities (like charge) active, there's no need to call them. Your pet will automatically charge/dash if not in cool down and if they have focus. For anyone asking about macros, I made my own version of the melee that lets you spam it without cancelling your auto attack. It looks clunkier, but it works like the original was intended I believe /cast !Attack /cast Raptor Strike /cast Counterattack /cast Mongoose Bite

It's actually better to pull aggro off of your pet at around 40% mob hp. With concussion shot the enemy will usually be dead before it can reach you. While it's moving, it's not doing damage to you or your pet, it's effectively like it's CC'D. If you are clever you can juggle aggro back and forth between you and your pet to make your pet take less damage. The net result is in a lowered amount of downtime between mobs and a faster leveling speed.
one thing, pet attack macros DO NOT WORK in classic WoW. Tried them as a hunter, and I got a message basically saying "you are attempting to do something with a macro that we don't want you to be able to do" :(
I am having constant issues with pulling agro onto myself and not the pet, I hear people telling me to let the pet tank and I do the dmg but it just doesn't work for me and I get pissed and make another character. I have tried playing my hunter 3 times now with about 2 months in-between every attempt and i am lvl 33 on the hunter, but every time I play I realize how difficult it is and how much I don't understand about the game I guess. So I just make a new character every time...
It's a personal choice. Shadowmeld+prowl is an insanely powerful combo and is also useful in making rogues reset any combo points on you. Nightelves also get around an extra 10 agility at lvl 60 over dwarves (I can't recall the exact number). Stoneform is GG against crippling poison. In my opinion pick a race you'll be happy looking at for the rest of the game.
Excellent macros Metagoblin. Could you pls explain a bit the Shadowmeld macro? I can't understand the "Ability_Ambush" bit in there! By the way I am intrigued about these conversions in Classic, given CastSpellByName(), UnitExists() and the like are forbidden functions!
I imagine it will be slightly easier to write in classic. Basically the macro stops you from using shadowmeld if you're already in shadowmeld so that you don't accidentally cancel it. It's quite ez to cancel it since these macros require you to spam them to work.

The macro will search in loop for any buffs you might have and if you happen to have the stealth (shadowmeld) buff among them (named "Ability_Ambush.png"), the condition x=0 will switch to x=1 and that will prevent you from casting Shadowmeld again. What confused me was the "Ambush" ability from rogue in the macro code, but apparently that's just the name of the shadowmeld icon for some reason :)

You really need to turn auto growl off and macro it. You are gimping the pets dps having him autocast growl all the time. Don't dismiss your pet just macro pet stay and pet will despawn without losing happiness. Also just noticed in this video you have your pets growl on in Onyxia lol wth
Is the shadowmeld macro using run code to work in pvp on players only or is that code that was required for janky private servers that didn't have legit macro framework? /cast Feign Death /cast Shadowmeld Is your version something that was needed for private servers because of the combat lag that didn't realize your in or out of combat till a second after? I seen some rogue macros like this but I never needed anyway work around for combat lag in a live game version. It's whatever you want really. Dwarf has +5 gun spec. But you won't really use guns much at all. If you would use a gun at 60 you'd only need about 6% hit instead of 9%. Night elves however have a higher base agility so that would probably be a better choice in the long run. Also, shadowmeld in PvP is amazing.
The script ones do not, and shouldn’t be anyways. I have been playing hunter since classic. They helped, but you didn’t need them. People act as is hunter is a hard class....lol.

For pet attacks I recommend setting your key binds. Mouse wheel up for pet attack. Mouse wheel down for pet follow. Middle click for pet stay. It works very well and gives you good control over your pet at all times.

@@crackedtvgaming aggro tag is using the aggro table to keep a mob running back and forth between you and a target, there is many variations of it but it basically minimizes the mobs ability to attack because it is never close enough to attack anyone

For number 6 just tell your pet to stay , jump down and use eyes of the beast to manually bring them down. Or vice versa

I am having constant issues with pulling agro onto myself and not the pet, I hear people telling me to let the pet tank and I do the dmg but it just doesn't work for me and I get pissed and make another character. I have tried playing my hunter 3 times now with about 2 months in-between every attempt and i am lvl 33 on the hunter, but every time I play I realize how difficult it is and how much I don't understand about the game I guess. So I just make a new character every time...

How is the shadowmeld casted? What key/lvl needed?
Shadowmeld is a night elf only racial ability and will be in the General tab of your spell book.
Isnt Dwarf better than Nightelf for Hunter PvP?
dwarf doesn't have shadowmeld though

It's a personal choice. Shadowmeld+prowl is an insanely powerful combo and is also useful in making rogues reset any combo points on you. Nightelves also get around an extra 10 agility at lvl 60 over dwarves (I can't recall the exact number). Stoneform is GG against crippling poison. In my opinion pick a race you'll be happy looking at for the rest of the game.

For sometime when i dismiss my pet to tame a new pet (I have extra space in my stable ) my dismissed pet gone missing after i check my stable
just to be clear, pet chill pet passive and pet follow are all the same because you are using 3 different ways of naming it if I understand correctly.

Excellent macros Metagoblin. Could you pls explain a bit the Shadowmeld macro? I can't understand the "Ability_Ambush" bit in there! By the way I am intrigued about these conversions in Classic, given CastSpellByName(), UnitExists() and the like are forbidden functions!
I imagine it will be slightly easier to write in classic. Basically the macro stops you from using shadowmeld if you're already in shadowmeld so that you don't accidentally cancel it. It's quite ez to cancel it since these macros require you to spam them to work.
@@MetaGoblin I got it. The macro will search in loop for any buffs you might have and if you happen to have the stealth (shadowmeld) buff among them (named "Ability_Ambush.png"), the condition x=0 will switch to x=1 and that will prevent you from casting Shadowmeld again.
What confused me was the "Ambush" ability from rogue in the macro code, but apparently that's just the name of the shadowmeld icon for some reason :)

always hate that traps are useless once combat is initiated it really makes the pointless unless you do it this way
This macros dont working in wow classic launch..you must have type the new code of legion-bfa to work..
You really need to turn auto growl off and macro it. You are gimping the pets dps having him autocast growl all the time. Don't dismiss your pet just macro pet stay and pet will despawn without losing happiness.
Also just noticed in this video you have your pets growl on in Onyxia lol wth

Is the shadowmeld macro using run code to work in pvp on players only or is that code that was required for janky private servers that didn't have legit macro framework?

Is your version something that was needed for private servers because of the combat lag that didn't realize your in or out of combat till a second after? I seen some rogue macros like this but I never needed anyway work around for combat lag in a live game version.

Perhaps its trying to use Feign Death but only shadowmeld if its a player since it I think only works in pvp unless you recall your pet in pvp that would be neat but not sure that line of code confuses me. lol

Classic is on Legion engine, so most of these smart macros are blocked.
yea script macros wont be used in classic as its the wod macro system not vanilla one
use arcane shot in high lvl? it does nothing. as you dont focus on intellect

what will be the best race for alliance hunters? PVE wise
It's whatever you want really. Dwarf has +5 gun spec. But you won't really use guns much at all. If you would use a gun at 60 you'd only need about 6% hit instead of 9%. Night elves however have a higher base agility so that would probably be a better choice in the long run. Also, shadowmeld in PvP is amazing.

The script ones do not, and shouldn’t be anyways. I have been playing hunter since classic. They helped, but you didn’t need them. People act as is hunter is a hard class....lol.

Great work meta goblin but sadly with the shape of us hunters with the bugs in the beta half of your macros don't work half of them won't work unless they fix it there's no such thing is feign death trapping pets are beyond broken it's very very saddening for us hunters
They will have to be fixed since it's part Hunter class design
Who knows though because they haven't said anything about it all they did was stripped down BFA Hunter and tried to turn it into vanilla. At the moment in time hunters have confirmed 73 bugs

For pet attacks I recommend setting your key binds. Mouse wheel up for pet attack. Mouse wheel down for pet follow. Middle click for pet stay. It works very well and gives you good control over your pet at all times.

You can avoid dismissing pet (which takes longer) if you just use eyes of the beast to force him to jump off the cliff before you do

@@crackedtvgaming aggro tag is using the aggro table to keep a mob running back and forth between you and a target, there is many variations of it but it basically minimizes the mobs ability to attack because it is never close enough to attack anyone
