The fight for water will be the Third World War, even Kofi Annan said that. All I know is that I miss living in Mauritania. Hard environment but amazing people. 100% Muslim, but they still accepted me as a peace corps volunteer. And they live represent Islam so well. If someone came to my host family, they could stay as long as they wanted. Water was the first thing offered, then a shower, food , and tea. No one stole anything. I left my wallet w passport, $$$ and identity in a taxi twice in the capital and it got returned. Even if someone was poor, they still gave to someone that was homeless or stricken by polio. That is the Islam I have experienced and Mauritanians showed me the good part. Mashallah, I miss you Mauritanians.

The guides will know what special places are worth visiting, like Tamanrasset, Timimoun, Adrar etc.A guided travel would save much time and ensure maximum benefit. In some of the places there is the most beautiful sunrise and sunset in the world, beautiful oases, magnificent golden dunes etc. Prior to travel, get information and watch videos to have an idea of what the places you'll be visiting look like. You are welcome to my country and have a nice time. By the way, where are you from?

As to your wish(dream) to come and live in our Sahara you should first have full information about the possibilities of that and see yourself if you can manage living here. The desert towns in my country are the only ones in the whole Sahara desert that have adequate facilities and everything you need.Well it is not quite a Paradise but not much far from it!Anyway, any wanting in that respect will by far be compensated by so so fascinating and breathtaking desert landscapes that you could never forget! There are even very old stone drawings and scriptures that date several thousands years back. Greetings from an Algerian citizen from capital Algiers.

When a bunch of us peace corps volunteers were about to leave the us for Mauritania, they asked us, “ who had to look at a map to see where you’re headed?”. All of us did. Yes, I wish there was an African channel too.

The perfect English of this talented lady, as well as the struggle of men against nature is one of the best documents I have ever seen. It must give us a profound lesson. The man who takes care about Muslim scrolls deserves a Nobel prize.
