I wanted to share my experience on my first very expensive luxury purchase from The Realreal. Throughout the process of getting the full refund, I found the sales people at the local Realreal store to be very helpful. Needless to say, I was extremely nervous until I got my money back!

I honestly haven't had good luck with the real real....I have grown not to trust them. I will not shop with them again.

TRR is notorious for misrepresenting their items and they love saying everything is a final sale. I don’t shop with them at all anymore. It’s not worth the hassle.
I'm very weary about shopping super expensive things with them until and unless I see the item in person at my local Realreal store (I'm glad there's a local brach where I live!). That said, I would definitely not shop with them if they gave me a lot of grief for the refund - but since they agreed to refund with no fussy, I'm probably going to shop with them - but with caution. I haven’t purchased a bag but my first experience was terrible-and I will never ever order from them again. I ordered 2 dresses (just under $1k) and received a package with 1 dress and a nude slip. The dress was in uk sizing and several sizes too small. I requested a refund for both. Getting a refund for the dress they never sent me was a nightmare - they asked me to return the slip to another location and I had to follow up every few days to confirm my return. I spoke via chat, text, email. Took weeks!
OMG, WHATTTTT?! That's absolutely awful! That's why whenever I unbox anything from anywhere (especially expensive items), I always film the unboxing whether I decide to upload to my RUclips channel or not. There's an evidence of what I'm getting. I've bought a cell phone from ebay and was sent a book. The seller tried to say that he sent a cell phone, but because I had video evidence, there was no way that the seller was going to win. It can happen anytime we get sent anything from anywhere via mail - even with regular department stores. With the current shortage of workers, and thefts with mailed items that we have in the U.S., I always film everything I get just to have evidence.... just in case.... I’ve never shop
with the Real Real because I’ve heard horror stories; however, I have shopped with Fashionphile and I absolutely love them I’ve never had an issue.
My son did buy a bag one time through Fashionphile and this backpack did have a musty odor that was not mentioned in the description, he call and was able to send it back and get a full refund. When he re-check for another backpack on the Fashionphile website the backpack that he had previously purchased was listed but this time it did read musty odor. So glad for their honesty. The first inspector might have not noticed the musty odor.
So sorry this happened to you it is a beautiful bag that needed a bag shaper from the get go.

Thank you so much - my husband and I had a very low key anniversary dinner with no fan fare or presents (since my bag got returned). Nothing fancy but still memorable and enjoyable to spend time with my best friend. 😊I'm glad Fashionphile adjusted their description when they got your bag back! I like shopping with Fashionphile too because of their easy return policy for any reason. I look at their website for deals at least once a day (if not more 😂). ❤
I have the same experience. The real real is not always very good with their descriptions and photos. But very good at resolving issues quickly.
I heard that starting in a few weeks (I think September), they will charge restocking fee. I don’t know the details, but I heard it from my sister. 😞

Happy to hear you were able to get your refund- I had a very similar experience with the real real. While I too got my money back I just don't trust their listings anymore and for that I don't buy prelove from them.
Totally understandable! I have a local realreal store and the sales associate can have very expensive items shipped to the store if I’m interested in looking at them to purchase. This easy I can see if I like the quality. But I can’t do that for cheaper items. I won’t buy anything expensive without seeing it in person from now on. ❤️💕
Thank you for sharing your experience. I'm so sorry that it turned out so badly for you, even though you did get a good resolution. I've only made one purchase from TheRealReal before, and the bag was in pristine condition, and as described. But a story like this does make me very wary of buying second-hand luxury, even if the site appears to document the item well. I have to admit, I was very taken aback by their 'Handbags are final sale and not returnable.' policy, and, I admit, if I had been able to find the bag (A Mcqueen Tall Story bag in quilted black leather) I wanted on any other site, I probably would have purchased it elsewhere. I'm not sure I can understand the reasoning behind not allowing returns on used items, which, as your experience pointed out, might not be as represented on their site. It feels like you're really taking a risk.
Many times, the final sale no return items are things that have been significantly discounted. It's always a little scary shopping preloved items from these huge consignment stores. I will not buy any more non-returnable items from the Realreal unless I see it in person at our local Realreal store. I can usually have an item shipped to our local store without paying so that I can see it in person before purchasing (especially for more expensive items). @@MyfavoritesWithMaggie Ah. That makes total sense, the no return on discounted items, from a sellers point of view. They want to clear the item out of their inventory. But it's still a lot of money, in most cases! But it sounds as though they were still open to some negotiation, in the event of the item not being as represented, in your case. But the fact that they did not adjust the condition of the item when they put it back up for sale, is also worrying. Definitely a reminder to really make sure the item is what you want if you can't see it in person!

I had an issue with the RealReal like you did. They accepted my return no problem. I’m more careful when I shop with them as a result
They do have some great prices but I won’t buy anything from them unless I see it in person. I’m glad you got your money back too! ❤️

It’s too bad about the Constance and your Chanel purchase from TRR, but good to know they gave you a refund despite it’s being listed as final sale! This has happened to me numerous times. It is terrible that they continue to do this. they are not checking bags. They also relish bags,when they know the condition. Now I only buy the ones in store

Great video! I had a similar experience. I purchased a handbag that had a lot more wear and damage than what was described and shown in their website photos. I emailed and called TRR. I received a full refund after 10 days despite the item being listed as final sale.

Yup, it took a while for the item to ship back and they had to reauthenticate it, but at the end, they gave me the full refund. Yay!

Coincidentally I just went through this identical situation with the RealReal, the bag that was nothing like the description. Of course their pictures are never good either. I called and was immediately given a refund, no problems but likely because it was a Ferragamo small crossbody, not Chanel. I previously purchased something else through them and it wasn't anything like the description either, that wasn't a bag so they accepted returns. Still, I won't be buying anything further from the RealReal - it's just not worth the hassle. I'm interested if you're selling your GST!
I’m so glad you got your refund! I think I’ll only buy from them if I can see what I’m getting. I have a local store, so I can always ask my sales associate to see if they can have it shipped to my store for me to look at before purchasing. They’ll do that for items above certain budget. I've only ever tried to browse their site but I quickly get a prompt to sign in. I just don't bother after that especially since there's been previous inauthentic items getting through.
I have heard that too Dani! This bag came with authenticity card and definitely looked authentic, but if I kept it, I would have gotten it re-authenticatged by Entropy at a local consignment store. For you though, since you live in Australia, I bet the customs tax and shipping would be expensive..... I think the Realreal does so much volume, I don't know how careful they are in authenticating moderately expensive things or cheaper items - especially from the big luxury houses. Thank you so much! The color on my GST is very different than the normal black totes which is why I thought I wanted more neutral color. But that said, for now, I’m a little tired of trying to find another tote. The experience was very stressful until I got the full refund 10 days later. ❤️

I was surprised how they packaged the bag and shipped it out. No bubble wrap to cushion the bag from banging around inside the box or stuffing inside the bag. ❤💕
Yeah The Real Real isn’t a gods company to buy from in my experience I’ve bought from them twice once bag wasn’t as described once the bag was fake. I had to get my credit card company involved both times to get resolution, so I’m glad it wasn’t as difficult for you.

They definitely would benefit from having many more closeup pictures and better description of the item. I think I wouldn't have minded if I knew exactly what I was getting. It was shocking when I expect certain quality but got a much worse quality. That's why from now on, I'm going to buy from The Realreal in-store for super expensive things rather than online, especially things that are no return. ❤

Wow, that's awful. My sister has bought from them with no issues, but I've had discrepancy issues (my last video was about twillies I bought which had worse wear than described). And after this time, I will not buy anything from the Reareal unless I see the item in person at our local store or if it is returnable. I definitely get anything I buy from second hand store re-authenticated. ❤💕

Omg. It's really soft and has lost a lot of its structure. The description details should have stated "lost of structure and heavy sagging or creasing."
