Since I finished editing this video and had it ready to upload, both of my parents fell at home and required to go to the emergency room. My father is hospitalized with a broken hip and my mother has a a wrist fracture which we don't think require a surgery. My sister and I are rotating being with my dad in the hospital 24/7 and also checking and staying with my mom as much as possible. My daughter is flying down from school tonight to stay with my mom for a week (after having left yesterday to prepare for her next semester in business school), and my son and daughter in law who live in the other coast of US have offered to come and work here remotely. Please pray for speedy recovery for my parents. ❤Thank you!
Just read this. Praying for speedy recovery for your parents, as well as for strength, in mind and body, for you and the family, the caregivers who are working so hard to support one another to take care of them. God bless you all 🙏🏻
Awwww, Maggie…hang in there…you are strong and your love of your family comes shinning through. An inspiration, indeed. I would love if you might consider chronicling your new house move, interior, how you are accommodating everyone and the ELEVATOR via vlog posts. Here’s to a new year filled with grace and inspiration.
Thank you Maggie. I’m so sorry about your father in law. I’m too suffering from back pain. Gentle yoga has gained my life. Every time the pain started to come back , I will make sure to get my yoga routine done and the pain magically disappears. Hope your 2023 is full of laughter and happiness. And congratulations on your new home.
Thank you so much! I've given up doing hot yoga when the pandemic happened. But I think I definitely need to do more stretches to lengthen my spinal cord. Please pray for my parents (see pinned note)! ❤ Happy New Year! ❤
Thank you so much Gigi. It's been a stressful but I feel so blessed to have amazing family and friends who really stepped up to help. Hope you have a fabulous New Year! 🎉
Thank you Lisa! Please pray for speedy recovery for my parents (see pinned note). It's been a crazy 24 hours and now I'm sitting next to my dad's hospital bed after relieving my sister who had the overnight shift (while I stayed with my mom at home). Despite it all, I'm so blessed to have my family's support - especially my sister and my husband! ❤
Wow! What a year you had, and it appears from the additional information that you posted after editing the video that your 2023 hasn't started off much better! I am hoping both your Mom and Dad have fully recovered from their falls, and that the renovations on your new home are now complete! Sure hope the remainder of 2023 brightens up and leads to a lot of happiness and health!!!
OMG, I just saw your comment today! 6 months later! It's been hell of a year so far and I've not had any time to do any videos for my RUclips channel. But, my mom fell a couple more times, my dad had couple more procedures for his heart, and we have just finished our elevator installation and moved them into my new house last weekend. The renovation is not completely done although I can see the end in sight now. It's been absolutely exhausting but I'm thrilled that my parents are with me and they are absolutely loving living in the new house. My dad, who now has dementia, sometimes cries thinking how lucky and happy he is. It makes everything worthwhile. Thank you so much for your comment! ❤
Happy New Year Maggie! I love hearing you speak about your family. Many of us are in the position where our children are growing up and our parents are aging. I think your channel could include all of this and luxury. I enjoy your company and hope that you keep going with your channel. Health and happiness in the new year :)
Thank you so much! I think I'll try vlogging or doing more chit chat videos for people who may want to talk about caring for elderly family members and raising kids. Happy New Year to you and your family! ❤
Happy Bew Year Maggie. Glad to see you. Congratulations to your son. So sorry to hear all the bad things happened during those 2 months. First time know pickle ball. Glad your hubby is recovering well. Take care yourself too Maggie 💕🎆
Maggie prayers that your parents have a healthy and speedy recovery. Most importantly is to also take care of yourself during this difficult time as well.
Thank you Toni. It's very difficult to see one's loved ones suffering with pain and it's been a emotional roller coaster for both my sister and me as we are with our father 24/7 (the nurses love us! 😉). But he's progressing (see my Instagram yesterday!) and we just have to get his heart failure better with a mitral valve clip when we can get him transferred to our regular hospital. Throughout this process, I'm constantly reminded of how amazing my family and my friends are - so, we are truly blessed. ❤
Hi Maggie, Happy New Year! I am sorry that 2022 was such a bad year for you, for me too! But I just wanted to say that I hope you stay on RUclips because I do enjoy your channel (especially that last trip with Tooki (sp?)) and hope you make more videos. As a fellow Asian-American baby boomer, it’s nice to see someone I can relate to on RUclips. Take care!
Happy New Year Maggie. I am so sorry to hear about everything. My mother in law suffered from Alzheimer for years and passed away in 2020, however it was horrible to see how it affected her to the point of her no longer be able to speak, or do anything for herself. congratulations on finding your new home, looking forward to seeing it.
You're absolutely right, it's very hard to see a wonderful mind deteriorate to a point where they not able to communicate or take care of themselves. We're excited about the new house but there's a lot of renovation to make it right for our parents and it may take several months and crazy expensive inflated prices. 😮💨
What a wonderful daughter and wife you are, having elderly parents is not easy, let alone buying a new house and caring for your husband. And then your back health! Thank you for this update. I partly bought my Evelyne 29 because of you. Don’t hesitate to give us a bag update on what you are using for some light relief, we all need to escape sometimes. I do love these real life stories too and will also be renovating. Take care.
I hope you're enjoying your Evelyne 29! I've been using it a lot lately because I don't have to think about downsizing or anything and I just use it over the shoulder with a twilly strap. I agree with you that bag reviews and thinking about bags and pretty things are a great way to relieve stress and escape. I'll try do a renovation vlogging - it'll probably be "what not to do" since I'm really bad at design. hahaha! I'm so proud of how caring and empathetic my kids are - especially their grandparents as they become increasingly immobile and difficult to care for - I hoped, but were pleasantly surprised at their reactions to recent events with their grandparents. Happy New Year! 🎉
Thank you EJ. I'm happy to answer any questions regarding raising children and helping with aging parents! I would say that kids watch and learn from how we, as parents, behave more than what we tell them. As for taking care of aging parents, I put myself in their shoes and think what would I want when I'm their ages. If you have any questions, I'm happy to answer them. Maybe I'll do a Q&A video! ❤
Hi Maggie, thank you for the update. My condolences on the loss of your father-in-law. I can totally relate, having lost both of my parents. You have a wonderful supportive family and that’s the most important during tough times. A little fun escapism helps too, I think that’s why people follow sports teams (including me - I’m an avid follower of NHL hockey and totally invested in my team 😅). I’m sure your followers will enjoy any kind of content you feel like putting out ❤ Wishing the best for your parents 🙏🏻
Thank you Grace. You're an avid NHL follower? I don't follow NHL, but I do enjoy going to watch live games - waiting for that fight! hahaha! I've seen it live twice and each time I saw either a fight in the ring and/or the puck flew out of the ring and hit a sports fan watching in the stands! I'm sorry for the loss of your parents - my parents are both in poor health, so I'm always worried for them. Thanks for your support Grace! ❤
Yeah, I’m the most unlikely hockey fan and my family and friends think it’s hilarious. I’ve loved watching figure skating my whole life but dismissed hockey as a bunch of brutes who fight lol. I only started appreciating it when the Canadian dad of our son’s childhood friend got them into playing. My son played youth hockey for a number of years but now I’m the only one in the family who seriously watches it 🤣 I empathize totally about your parents. Best wishes to them and your family in the new year❤️
I am so sorry to hear about all you’ve had to go through. It’s been rough those few months. So glad you’re back. Post whatever interests you on RUclips, Maggie. Whatever makes you excited to talk about. Just please don’t leave 😢. You don’t have to commit too much time, maybe just once or twice a month? Anyway, hope the new year brings better things for you and your family. Take care! 😘😘😘
Thank you Corrine! I think I'll hopefully be able to upload couple times a month..... I do think that I want to expand the topics covered on my channel - it'll be a great learning process to figure out what people would find interesting enough to watch. ❤
I’m so sorry to hear all that you’ve had to endure this year especially the loss of your father in law. But you are strong and you have such a wonderful supportive family and you got your house! I would be so sad to see you quit RUclips Maggie. Maybe you can do a mix of things. Talk about or share whatever you feel like sharing at the moment. It could be bags one day, home renovations another and definitely child rearing as you have raised such amazing successful kids! I’m trying to find resources as to how to support my oldest through his high school years and especially college admissions as I didn’t go to college here in the US. In any case, hope we can continue to keep in touch whatever you decide to do! ♥️♥️♥️
Thanks Kim. Please pray for speedy recovery of my parents (see my pinned note). Maybe I'll do a mix of things..... I'm happy to help anyone raising kids especially high school kids - the pressure is next level especially, I think, for Asian kids in U.S. When my kids were in high school, I used to share whatever info I found with my fellow parents and they used to joke that I should be a college counselor. hahaha! I'm not sure how things have changed in terms of testing dates and testing requirements now, but I'm happy to answer any questions! Maybe if I get enough questions, I'll do a Q&A video! ❤
Oh goodness you have had so much go on. Im Sorry about your loss, congratulations on your sons marriage. I hope you stick around, listening to you is like a chat with a friend ❤❤
Thanks Tiffany! As I'm sitting next to my dad watching him sleep in the hospital now, I'm reminded of how blessed I am to have my parents throughout my life and how amazing my friends and family have been throughout this new health scare. Happy New Year! ❤🎉
Hello Maggie, I´m sorry about the loss of your father in-law and about the rough patch you and your husband have gone trough. The silver lining is the marriage of your son and the new home. Congratulations! About your channel and its content. I hope you won´t abandon us. I like you vary the content. I moderately enjoy luxury (must be my Lutheran upbringing, haha...), but I am so pleased, when Toki appears on the scene. And travelling is always a great fun. You could give us some practical tips about decorating your new house, and occasionally about children and education. And of course about anything that you consider worth sharing. I wish you a Happy New Year!🐩🌺
Thank you Suvi! I'm so glad you've enjoyed watching Toki and my travel vlogs! Maybe I'll try vloggin more especially as I go through house renovation to retrofit an elevator in our house. Thank you so much and Happy New Year! ❤
I was checking periodically to see if you'd uploaded -- you were missed. ❤ Our lives are so much more important to care for than our RUclips channels, so take care of yourself and your family. Congrats on being a new MIL and best wishes for the health of your family.
Thank you! My parents moved into my new house since last weekend since the elevator is now done. The renovation is almost complete, but we still have a fe more things to do. My parents are thrilled at their new place in my house. Since this video was made, my dad's dementia has gotten worse, his needed couple more procedures, my mom fell couple more times which required ER visits (thank God no bones were broken!). It's been an exhausting journey, but absolutely worth it when I see how happy they are in their new "apartment". I couldn't have done any of it without my wonderful sister though.... Thanks for your inquiry! ❤
Hi Maggie…thanks for sharing your life update! What a great daughter/daughter -in-law you are. So sorry to hear of the sad and stressful events you’ve gone thru. Going thru some health issues with my own aging parents and in-laws as well as husband’s and (like you) my degenerative disc disease as well as joint issues. I still love luxury and still pick up goodies (mainly as a stress reliever I think), but like you my life priorities have been changing. Please continue to do videos, whatever the topic!! Always really enjoy watching your videos and seeing your insight! 👍💕💕💕
Thank you so much! My sister and I finally stopping giving 24/7 care to my parents couple days ago and my dad is doing so much better now! We still take care of them several times a day but it's not the entire day and night. 😊 I'm sorry that you're going through things with your aging parents. It's hard. ❤
i'm just happy to hear that both your parents are okay. I'm a PT and knowing my parents are getting older makes me worry a lot especially that they are back in the Philippines. thank goodness we have very good neighbors and my mom's side of her family are there... giving you virtual hug! 🥰
Thank you. We’re working with physical therapy for my dad’s hip fracture, but due to his heart failure, it’s been a struggle. He’s going to require cardiac procedures to make his heart work better. It must be hard for you to be so far from your parents. ❤️
Oh Maggie! You've been through a lot in the last year! I know that the YT algorithm favors a channel with a clear direction but maybe you can do a bit of everything if/whenever you're inspired to share.. i.e. family, luxury, advice, home decor/reno. etc. I hope that things look up from hereon!
Thank you so much! I've posted my recent trip photos on my Instagram (there was a tour bus fire!) and posting some pictures of the house renovation, but I haven't had the time to do anything RUclips related since RUclips videos take a lot of time for me to edit. But I'm hoping when things calm down, I'll do a RUclips video or maybe I'll do a live show and answer any questions people have..... hmmmmm.... The only thing about doing a live show is that I wouldn't know what to do if no one showed up. hahaha! 😂
my grandmother had Alzheimer's disease and it was a blessing that she died of heart attack before her disease was progressively getting very bad. family is very important because it's where we rely on each other and depend on another. you have a great family! ❤
Thank you. I’m sorry to hear about your grandmother, but she is lucky to not have suffered with end stage Alzheimer’s. It’s hard for the patient as well as the family. Oh I'm so sorry to hear this, Maggie! Wishing both your parents a speedy recovery. You and your family take care💞💞💞
Sending much love Maggie ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you! ❤️. It’s been quite a journey.
Don’t leave RUclips Maggie! Your perspective on raising kids and taking care of parents would be invaluable to so many people.
