    • @paulzx10
      @paulzx10 3 года назад

      Yeah, that's why I got this specific aio for my bros new build I put together for him as the Asrock mobo he chose doesn't have the best vrm and heatsink. His case is a cube shape and doesn't have a fan right next to the io that would give some airflow to the vrm.

      A tiny little fan that runs all the time over the VRM in the need that that VRM might need cooling sometime seems stupid even if it does cool it slightly (when it works). Is this a way to try and get around the ASETEK pump in cpu block patent?

    Yea, worn bushings was my worry with the fan in the water block with Arctic Cooling AIO... I like that cooler overall - it is my fav AIO. I know from GN that the VRM fan is extremely limited to what it does, though it does a little more then other coolers that don't have it. Sure would be nice if Arctic could find a solution to facilitate user replacement of that ity-bitty fan in it's next version (and if not, then I agree with you in that they need to remove it). But at least it can be deactivated semi easily.

    My PSU just started to have fan crackle that kind of sounds like an old platter HDD clicking. So debating if I want to bother trying to re lube the bearings in it or replace its fan or just replace the whole unit to an actual modular one. When it started doing it a couple of days ago I at first thought my radiator sprung a leak and the hot liquid was hissing out.

    @Timmy Joe PC Tech I have the Arctic LF 11 240. The VRM fan wasn't spinning up (it was trying to) without my assistance getting it going. After I got the fan to start spinning it began making a very high pitch squealing noise. I contacted Arctic and they are going to send me a replacement fan for me to swap in. Apparently it is an easy fix, but I'm not sure of that. Guess I'll find out when I have to do the swap over.

    I used to have a motherboard with two tiny 40mm fans (I think it was a z77 board) and they were by far the loudest thing in the whole system. They had a very whiney sound to them whenever they ramped up. ended up unplugging them after I realized what the sound was. Companies need to stop using tiny fans on well EVERYTHING. If they are quiet it usually means they are spinning so slow as to be nearly pointless or they are loud in an unpleasant way. Also, if something requires a tiny fan to cool it than it's probably not a huge heat generating thing, just put a larger heatsink on it instead of a small one and a fan *looks at X570*.

    2 years ago I wanted to change out my PSU fan in a 2008 Cooler Master 850W and found out it was a 135mm fan. So I dusted it off and squirt some WD in there and it was fine for a year and then it started making a Morris code sound like something very very small was arching. Now it's on display in all it's black chrome housing glory as the oldest PSU I have and will work in a pinch (but may catch fire in that pinch).

  • @The_Chad_

    Hmm, I've been running a couple of those Freezer II AIOs since they came out and still haven't had a problem with the VRM fans. Honestly, I like that the fan is there. It does help cool VRMs a couple degrees at least and it is easy to disable if it fails. I would like it less if it made it cost more, but Arctic is still able to make the best AIO at the lowest price even with the fan. The only problems I've ever had from the Arctic AIOs is getting the mounting pressure correct, especially on Ryzen CPUs it seems. But, man how I miss the days when Arctic cooling products were like my little secret. Everything was so accessible and inexpensive and performed just as well or better than anything else. Now, I can barely find anything in stock. A lot of times when I do, it isn't direct from Arctic and is marked way up. Like I just had to spend $100 over MSRP for one of their 420mm AIOs the other day. It's ridiculous! I'm happy to see them getting the credit they deserve, but I kind of wish the tech press and youtubers would stop mentioning them. Actually Timmy Joe, you can talk about how you don't like their AIO design all day. Do more of that. lol

  • @CallMeP1ink

    AS far as I know many users including myself have reported this issue to arctic and this will happen to every AIO that has this small VRM fan, Arctic will send you a replacement VRM fan if this does happen within the warranty period of course and if you don't want to wait at least a week to hear back from them you can just disconnect the VRM fan from the AIO, There are many guides on how this can be done and its very simple. Yes I had to do this to mine (Arctic Liquid Freezer ii 120mm) because it was louder than 6 120mm fans in my system also by arctic (p12).
    Short Answer : Just disconnect the VRM fan everything else such as the pump are very quiet and should last about 5 to 7 years*.
    Long answer : Go through the warranty and ask for a replacement new VRM fan but may take 1 to 4 weeks to hear back from Arctic.(took them 3 weeks to get back to me)

    I had a rattle in my fans, I turned the off one by one, but it wouldn't stop. I finally figured out that I need the outflow fans (only two) to be at a higher RPM that the intake fans (there are three). Once I slightly increased the RPMs the noise stopped.

    Both fans had busted bearings. It happens, especially with cheap sleeved bearing fans. No amount of hitting, jamming, and positioning will help those fans. I kind of cringed when Timmy Joe started messing with the fans. I have been able to disassemble fans and add oil to the bearings only for the sound to return a month later. Replace or remove is the only thing you can do. Hopefully, the fans you install are of good quality.

I have 3 nzxt aer p12's from the nzxt x73 aio, 2 pre installed fans from the corsair 4000d airflow and the gpu has 2 gigabyte windforce fans. what i mean by 'roar' is that any of the fans i listed (or maybe all of them) start to randomly ramp up and then goes down to a lower rpm, and again ramps up. also i have to mention that when the 'roaring' happens, it starts vibrating a bit. no, it doesnt show on any software that a change in fan speed is happening, and i cant find anything on the internet. any tips are much appreciated.

    Normally mounted GPU is much nicer than side mounted - why show spinning plastic FANs and sometimes block all the PCIe slots?

    Problem with a vertical mount, more heat pushed into your motherboard. There is simply NO good reason to vertical mount a GPU unless it's purely as a show peice that doesn't actually run.

    • @TheSilviu8x
      @TheSilviu8x 3 года назад +1

      It depends how the fins on the radiator are oriented, if vertical, it's actually better this way.

    • @CitizenTechTalk
      @CitizenTechTalk 3 года назад +1

      @@TheSilviu8x good point actually! I was thinking more of the RTX Founders edition setup, but you're right! A good AIB would benefit from vertical in some respects in relation to air flow and case size, agreed.
      Ie. A full tower high airflow setup like I've got (Corsair 750D high airflow) would benifit greatly with 2x120 mm fans in the bottom pushing up would greatly improve cooling of the card, but a mid tower with restricted airflow at the front (90% of current cases and older ones) to mini itx case, simply no it'll make them more of an oven than ever before and the VRM's and CPU socket will take a beating too! Especially on non high end implementation boards.
      I just don't see the benifit other than aesthetics over function myself.
      Air flow and fluid dynamics (AIO's and radiators) are key to performance in my experience as an enthusiast. But each to their own right? Especially of you're not overclocking or running high powered parts to begin with and it's more of a showcase PC etc.
      But yeah you've certainly got merit in your discussion, thank you very much mate!
      Thanks for your input mate, I really appreciate it.

    There is always something causing noises in a PC. I have had several sets of RGB ram that twinkles when set in rain pattern settings. It's an electronic twinkling noise which is terribly annoying. Great fixes though on the AIO and PSU, shame Arctic felt the need to add useless features that cause more issues than solutions.
