This was brilliant his intro was so short and simple but straight to the point👌
Thanks for the comment
Good video!! As an avid tinkerer of all things PC and electronic, it’s good to find a new channel that shows useful solutions to problems!! Keep up the good work and I’m looking forward to seeing what’s next!!
My fan was noisy for almost a year now, and the noise got worst lately.
Was gonna buy a new one and then I came across your video and it worked!!
Thank you sir!
Hey Zak, glad it worked for you, its a simple fix but an effective one
I have the exact same fans and they started this same issue around 2 years after i got em. Guys at the comp store said i had to switch em out. This helps me save a few bucks for a while, thanks!
Mine are still going strong and its been about 8 months of use since i did it, might keep you going for a while longer.
Had 2 out of 3 Diablotek cheapie POS fans making noise in my Powerspec G433. I was ready to replace the fans but decided to watch your video and then I gave it at try. 45 minutes later my PC is running quiet as brand new. I'll eventually replace them with better fans as well as the SoHoo GameMax controller card, but for now this really helps. Thank You so much for the video.
Hey Buddy. I'm glad you got a bit more life out of your old fans, and saved you a bit of cashola! thanks for the comment, don't forget to check back as i try and post something every couple of weeks.
Very insightful video. It has been a very long time since I last built a computer so I am out of touch on a lot of things, fans included. Based on this video, I'd be happy to perform that sorta maintenance on my own fans if they needed it.
Thank you for the video! Lookin' forward to the next one!
Sometimes the fan has just dislocated, if so carefully pull the fan out.
Other issues, inspect fan for cracks.
Also cheap fans can have ball bearings, those eventually will make noise. You have magnetic bearing, they will be quiet usually until they misalign. But maybe lubing those helps, but impossible to tell if you lubing it or you you moving the fans fixed it. Just flipping the fans upside down might fix it.
But maybe lube will reduce noise anyway.
Microphone pop at the start of the vid: You might already know this.
Tip use a pop filter or move mic to the side or above your mouth, if it's in the way, turn up the gain, if you can't download EqualizerAPO and boost the mic from there. I had to as mine was too quiet.
hi! it can cause any another problem if i just let it doing noise and i do not lubricate it? actually i dont care about the noise but my fans have a few months and i dont want to loose the warranty
Hey, do you think this would work for a CPU fan? Do you think it would make more sense to just remove the front fan section and not the heat sink?
Hi there, would depend very much on which type of CPU cooler you had
Thanks! Fixed my old fan as well.
Hey J, glad it helped you out
Great video thank you!!
Beautiful computer, love the white and x3 purple fans.
Thanks, it changed a few times since then, hope to be back creating again soon
3 in1 OiL is the best for a job like this. Do NOT use WD-40 for the bearing shaft.
WD-40 is nor designed for this. It is NOT OIL! The best is Motor OiL 20W50 in a 21 G Syringe Neddle from your local pharmacy, and your done!

HI There, you're absolutely correct, light machine oil like 3 in 1 is ideal. I have pointed this out inn a previous comment, I might actually amend the description for clarity. thanks for the comment
This helped me a lot! Thanks!
No worries, glad it helped you out, thanks for commenting
Hey! I have the skytech blaze 2 and one of the fans have started to make somewhat of a noise like yours. I think it is coming from my cpu cooler other then the other fans. What do you recommend I do?
Hi there, looks like you are running a Ryzen CPU. I haven't tried this fix on CPU fans. in your case you should be able to get a wraith cooler online fairly cheaply. If you do try and fix the one you have be very careful as running the CPU without a cooler for more than a few seconds could damage it. Good Luck
@@KNTech Thank you for the response! I would just like to know if a rattling sound is also very bad for the system and if it should be something i should be worried about.
@@YoYoDancesOnYou Obviously if its rattling then something isn't fitting correctly, but i would let the temps of your CPU tell you what you need to know. If it starts running hot then you should change the cooler. Maybe run a benchmark, something like Cinebench every 6 months and monitor the temps, if they don't go up significantly then you should be ok. But as always, just keep an eye on anything odd
Thanks for the useful video! my pc fan started the exact same rattle today, now im off to buy some WD40 !

@@dr.anonymous4803 thanks for this great advice 😁
While this does seem like good advice, it isn't because he doesn't tell you what you should do after flushing it out with WD-40. Regular WD-40 is not a lubricant despite appearing like one when it's first applied. WD-40 is meant for displacing water and flushing debris/dust out of things. It isn't meant to stay in as a lubricant for something spinning at such high RPMs as a fan. Flushing with WD-40 also flushes out most of the machine-grade oil applied at the factory. WD-40 by itself will, rather quickly in comparison to oil, take on a more resin-like consistency, which will have that rattle coming back with the added benefit of putting more stress on your fans by making them work harder to spin.
You're supposed to follow up a WD-40 flushing with actual machine-grade oil based on your needs. For PC fans, just a light machine-grade oil is enough to keep them spinning for years. Well, outside of any needs to flush them out again. There are also WD-40 brand lubricants that you can buy that are different from just regular WD-40.
Hi, thanks for the comment, I did mention (3:10) that light machine oil can be used, but thanks for clearing up any confusion anyone was having
thank you so much for the video tutorial.. imma bout losing my mind to fix my rattling cm fan
No worries man, hope you get 'em sorted
how long does this last till it starts to rattle again, I read somewhere a while ago that WD-40 as it is a water dispensor evaporates over time so after a couple months the noise will come back
Hi There, mine are still good still. it does evaporate but leaves behind an oily residue. If you can find a light machine oil that would work better, but mine are still going strong
Definitely use machine oil. I had some for my sewing machine already
my pc fan is very loud at start until i give the pc a thump. then it goes to normal. a visual inspection shows a 0.25 cm gap between the fan and the coil assembly. has a fan screw come loose?
Hey Matey, not sure, but it does sound as though you have gotten your use out of it, not sure my trick will work on that one, but what do you have to lose
@@KNTech i opened up the pc ps and cleaned the fan and pressed it hard and sprayed oil into the gap. i could not remove the fan as some kind of non removable one use plastic washer held it in place. in any case cleaning pressing it hard and oiling seems to have done the trick. it works fine now for over a week.
@@esecallum Hello, has the noisy sound returned yet? Or is it good now?
My fans coolmaster fans do this and it's so annoying, gonna give this a go
Let me know how it goes
Hi , its been a year! hows your fan health going ? is WD-40 that good ? because my old Cooler Master fan started to rattling and vibrating like hell at high speeds..
Hey Jack, the fans are still holding up ok, I dont have them in the same PC but they are working in another of my PCs, one of them has started to make a little hum at high RPM but its nowhere near as bad as it was originally, so all in all a pretty good result i reckon. Thanks for the comment

I've got some gentle typhoons that are getting squeaky, would be nice to fix them as they were good fans.
Clean your fans regularly and also oil them.. fans can last you for so long guys.. Recently i replaced one.. after 6 years he started making turbulence and i think start to wiggle.. i couldn't fix that so yeah.. but $30 fan to last me that long.. i am more than satisfied lol
anybody knows how to disassembel these fans? I have MF120 argb . arg does not work.
If you heat the sticker with a hair dryer, it comes off much easier
Thanks for the tip
is it safe to use WD-40 for lubricating?
or which oil is best? thanks!
Hi Christian, WD-40 will do ok, a light machine oil would be better, but can sometime be harder to get hold of. That said my fans are still going strong in another PC after i swapped them out

How many time can the fan keep quiet after you lubricating it?
Hi there, mine haven't made any noise since i did this, about 8 months now
My fan doesn’t have a hole for ventilation? How do I lubricate the bearings?
Hi There, like i said in the video, there may be a small plug which can be removed to expose the bearing. I have seen a few that are totally sealed, in that case this fix wont work for you, sorry
Thanks a lot
One of the SickleFlow 120s in my new build developed a rattle after a week! Been driving me nuts. Thanks so much for this video, I'm going to try it out.
Your channel is great! Keep it up 👌
bruh keep me updated. My pc fan just started rattling like crazy after I've had my pc for 3 years. That's why i'm here. Just put the oil on. Prayers needed.
give it a go and let me know how it works out for you
just don't go mad with the lubricant
@@KNTech I didn't have all purpose oil so I used chainsaw oil (lmao) and it was molded like yours in the video. I turned it on and it was rattling for a little bit and settled down and has been quiet since. So def. worked!!! I did order a couple Noctura fans but this was a quick fixed and I'm super pumped I found this video ty. Also I know nothing about building Pcs, it was my first time taking it apart besides quick dusting.
@@smario1555 good job man, next thing you know you will building your own PC from scratch. i will be doing a 'how to build a PC' video soon, so don't forget to subscribe to see when that goes up.
I had a rattle in my fans, I turned the off one by one, but it wouldn't stop. I finally figured out that I need the outflow fans (only two) to be at a higher RPM that the intake fans (there are three). Once I slightly increased the RPMs the noise stopped.
Glad you got it sorted, The usual way to set fan speeds (assuming you have the same number of intake as exhaust/outflow) is to have the intake slightly higher RPM than the exhaust, that way you has a slight positive pressure in the case which makes it harder for dust to get in when it running.
i have a gigabyte and there is no poing to open it up sad
Thanks for the video. Going to try this. Question: does the WD-40 wear off after a while and if so, how long?
Hey Matt, thanks for the sub and the comment. I did mine about 8-9 months ago, and its still going strong
Is it safe tho for the computer like a very slight noise?
if its making a noise it probably not running right, it will get worse, but might still last a long time before it fails completely
Nice video ! Could there also be a vibrating noise coming, because the fans are only screwed through one side of the fan ? With a short screw, not a long one, which goes thorught the whole fan ?
Hi Zan, very unlikely, the short screws screw into the plastic of the fan frame making a tight grip to the case. i guess its possible, but only slightly, that you may have stripped the thread in the fan frame. if you are getting vibration it is most likely to be a part of the case that does not fit correctly or maybe even some cables that are not tied down. A good starting point would be to take off all the panels on your case first and see if that fixes it, if that doesnt then try unplugging each of you fans one by one. if one of them stops it, take that fan out and run it out of the case. Good luck
@@KNTech Thanks for the advice !
What lubricant did you use? Thanks so much!
Hi There, i used a small amount of WD40 in mine, and they are still going strong
drop of baby oil always works
@@bobsyouruncle8052 Hey Aaron, absolutely, any oil based lubricant will do it, as long as its a light oil, wouldn't wanna use anything heavy
I'm going to try sewing machine oil
@@darkfoxx87 How'd it work?
I bought a gaming pc 5 months ago now i feel my pc case fans got problem whenever i turn on my pc normally my pc case the front, rear and top will spin to max speed for a while then it goes back to normal speed but now i notice that my rear and top fans when i turn on my pc it will not spin until the mobo logo comes out but the front fans they are fine Is this a issue? or normal? its kinda annoying to me
But it only happen sometimes
sounds like a tricky one, if you can, try changing which fan header on the motherboard the fans are plugged into. Also a BIOS update might help, but only try one thing at a time that way you will know which it was that worked. Good luck
@@KNTech but if i update my bios can I still use my current cpu ryzen 3000 series bcs my board is b450 afraid later it only supports ryzen 5000 series
@@youknowwhoiam1412 You will have to do your own research on that one I'm afraid. but try the fan headers thing first
Although it works WD-40 is not a lubercant WD stands for water displacement the 40 is how many attempts it took to create the formula. 3 in one is best.
You are absolutely right, i only used as i didn't have any light machine oil, but for sure that is better. WD-40 does in fact evaporate leaving an oily residue, which does lubricate a little, but not as good as 3in1
@@KNTech Great video, I totally agree I've also being in those times of having to deviate. lol
I bought two brand new coolermaster rgb case fans...not cheap at all...they rattled from day 1...kinda sorry i was too lazy to return them but i liked my glowing rainbowy case.
Anyways, fuck coolermasters
what oil to use ?
use a light machine oil, like for sewing machines, or failing which i used WD40.
can i put engine oil or gear oil in the whole?
i wouldnt, use something light like machine oil
How long did this lasted?
they were still going strong until i replaced them about a year ago
Greese with teflon is really good lubricant :)
Hey Sami, thanks for the recommendation, will give it a go next time I do some
@@KNTech It's a bit thicker but last long time.
Can a rattling fan damage anything?
The rattling is a sign that the bearing is loose/starting to break down, eventually it will completely fail, but by then the noise will get a lot worse, to the point where you will probably replace the fan, so yes eventually, but in reality probably not.
Can i use a 3 in 1 CLP aerosol spray for firearms
Hey there, absolutely, will be better than WD-40
@@KNTech i have the fluid dynamic bearing tho?
@@FreshBeKnifing In that case I'm not sure, I don't think it would do any harm, but that said i donw want you to screw up one of your fans, up to you whether to try it or not.
@@KNTech alright then well thanks for the quick response
@@FreshBeKnifing no worries. if you do try it let me know how you get on
6:40 I think that the mic volume turned down. There should be the sound of some air turbulence.
Hey Collins, I didn't change the mic volume, don't forget the fans are pushing away from the mic and there is a mic cover.
My pc is making a clicking noise on one of the fans, but I dont want to send it to the pc store because that would.meann I would lose it for a week
I hear ya. maybe try and find which fan is making the noise and try and remove just that one? assuming its not your CPU fan
Hmm. Mine is a Coolmaster fan but its molded and I see no entry point
HI there. i assume you removed the sticker and looked underneath? most have either a small area that will take the lubricant, or a plug you have to remove. If you cant get to the bearing then this fix wont work for you, sorry bud
My fan was making noise so I opened my case with the computer on and stuck my finger into the fan
It hurt like hell but it stopped making noise for a second
😂
Good video, though it would have been great to have a before and after sound. Was curious how rattly it was for you
Hi There, i did try and get close enough for it to pick up but it was hard to. make it sound on video how it sounded in real life. Glad you liked it
I’m getting a little noise coming from my AIO cooler fans, seems to be like fan wobble or rattle. I’ve bought new ones but I would like to solve the problem 😂😂
Give it a go, see how you get on. if you are not using them now nothing to lose
@@KNTech I installed x3 new cooler master sickleflow 120 fans, it turns out with these “sealed bearing” fans there’s no way to apply a small amount of lubrication from
The back under the sticker. But you can (with some force) push the fan blade out of the housing, and you can apply an amount to the inside from there.
By the time I realised this I had already installed the new ones haha. Cheers mate
Nice tip, will keep that one for if i need it@@M.Godfrey
@@KNTech aye hold up brother because before I threw them in the bin, I decided to forcefully remove the fan blade. If you can’t access from the back via sticker removal, you can pull the fan blade completely out of the housing, exposing the internals. I applied a small amount of lubricant to the drive train, pushed the fan blade back in and vola. Kept them as spares.
don't use wd40
use sewing machine oil like Singer
I dont have that hole under the sticker
Some fans dont, that means they are an enclosed bearing, not serviceable unfortunately
My fans doest have a hole both side how
If there is a plastic cover you can remove that, it might be under that
@@KNTech already remove no hole
@@simplyjemelah8276 No worries, Like i said this works for the majority of fans, but there will be some where this solution doesn't work, sorry.
Wd 40 is a cleaner not a lubricant
Technically you're right of course, but it does dry to leave an oily residue which is good in this case to allow the bearing to move more easily. Thanks for the comment
Definitley oil, like sewing machine or Wahl Clipper Oil, over WD40; never WD40...
i wish we could of seen how much wd40 to spray into the bearings...
Its a very small amount, just enough to get it wet
@@KNTech oh ok gotcha, i was going to do this to my fans. They are nice fans anyway i got cool master 120s the quiet ones, and some be quiets. All designed to be quiet fans... I went into my bios and raised my fan speed from standard speed to full speed and the rattle went away. They are super quiet now. And i got lower temps too. I think my specific fans were engineered to run higher rpms.
My fan got a metal ting on ut
Does it damage my pc if i ignore the buzzin sound.
That al depends on where the sound is coming from. If it is from a fan, its a sign of bearing wear, and eventually it will fail, if it is from somewhere else i would definitely investigate it
@@KNTech It’s from the fan, will it kill my parts slowly? Only my cpu cooler is cooling the pc atm.
@@imlegitsubbbingtoeveryonew8899 If it is the fan on the CPU cooler, I would definitely look to getting git resolved, or replaced. My fix is for case fans, and i haven't tested it on COU coolers. It will get worse, and you will start to overheat, but it may take a little while to effect the CPU, but defo worth getting it looked at
@@KNTech Thanks it worked - thanks for ur help.
The biggest pain is psu fan rattling
Not sure i would be messing about n there unless you know what you are doing, there are capacitors in there that hold power long after being disconnected
One of my fans starts to rattle when it gets slower lol
Some fans are just not so stable at low revs, with mine it was med to high it started, sounded like it was gonna shake out the frame. Try testing your fans by changing the fan speed in bios to fixed, then try different speeds to see if makes a difference. If not, try my fix, you can always replace a single fan quite cheaply, or move them around to accommodate losing one. Good luck
