They last longer even though they may cut a bit slower. You may be cutting slower, but by the time you stop to change wheels the total time ends up quicker. Also you put less stress on the tool which lasts longer too.

My dad used to sell chemicals from a company called National Labs here in Canada, and although he loved their Fasolve degreaser, he still swore that Sunlight was better, especially on organic oils like fish oil ( we used it exclusively to clean the boat and coolers after fishing.)

The only thing I’d like to see is when you do the final review, add a graphic like you do for costs, wear, etc add an overall ranking on first place thru last place when your speaking. I hope that makes sense. I’m nit picking. Your videos are awesome. You do amazing work. I’m happy to watch them and support you how I can. Thanks for what you do.
From my experience, these wheels seem to be cutting WAAYYY less than I'm used to for a 40 grit. Could be the pressure, the way the steel is rotating, or another factor. I love the videos! Keep them coming!
all of your tests are so elaborate and well thought out, thank you for all the hard work you put into your videos i'm always looking forward to the next one!
When I seen the title, I was wondering how you were gonna pull-off this test! You did a great job! Thanks so much for the valuable information you provide us consumers!
The sound of a snapping belt followed by a big bang, squeeeek and alarm is never good! Mind, the belts in question are 1300mm wide and 2150mm long. We had two brands where the joint broke way before the belt was worn.
I work at Canadian Tire, and a handful of the mastercraft belts we get are split right off the truck. I've had to replace one of the belts on a display after a few months, for the same reason.
Another outstanding comparison. The last two flap discs I bought were Dewalt and they were just as you say, overpriced and so-so performance. I’m not a big dewalt fan due to a bad experience with an expensive hammer drill that was hardly used and just outside the warranty it decided to let out the blue smoke. After being denied warranty I took it apart and it was a clear manufacturer defect. Improper assembly caused wires to get pinched and the insulation was damaged just enough to short circuit. When shown photos, dewalt basically gave me the middle finger. I now buy Makita drills and hypoid saws, Milwaukee grinders, Bosch routers, Sanders, and table saws. I’m going to buy a flap disc tomorrow and will be going with diablo.
I think abrasive material should be a consideration for the test. From my info gathering there are 3 types: aluminum oxide, Zirconia/Zirconium and the newest Ceramics. A revision and new players on the field should make and excelent test. Also there are 2 types of flap discs Type 29 and Type 27. Thanks for all the hard work.
This is a great idea, just trying to find a good review on stripping wheels, they are designed for removal of rust and paint. I am currently using a flap disc from Princess Auto to sharpen my mower blades. I leave the blades on the mower, it is doing a great job.
I came across your reviews by accident and I have now watched most of your videos. I even watch the ones I would never have anything to do with or use the product but just enjoy watching. I know, for me, I have learned a lot. Don’t ever let the big brands buy out your ethical and honest opinions. Keep up the great work! Thanks again for the great content!
Interesting test to see how flap discs hold up relative to each other on rust/scale.... In general if you want to extend the life of any flap disc or sanding disc always remove the rust & scale surface first with either a grinding wheel, sandblasting, rust dissolver/ acid or (my preferred method) a diamond grinding wheel. Iron oxide is quite high on the Mohs hardness scale, & is an abrasive in its own right, Emery powder. You can see how glazed the edges of each flap are after the second test, & why they don't cut nearly as well in the 2 min test. Once you get to clean steel a fresh flap disc or sanding disc will cut beautifully.
I probably would have never thought Diablo was this good if I didn’t start watching project farm years ago. Thanks for his in depth reviews and honest opinions I feel like we can all trust that he’s telling us the truth 🙏.I really can’t speak for others but I trust his information on everything he reviews and that’s why I come here before purchasing anything! Thanks for staying true to us and not taking that extra few dollars to lie to us…and I mean this genuinely!
Todd you have saved me so much money at this point, I have purchased many of you winners and they do not disappoint. Thank you and keep it up from one DIYer to another test away and give us the best.
We can all thank Robert Bosch a German engineer, and his amazing R&D team for all the amazing products. Also he's worth almost 100Billion for a reason. Great quality products, priced accordingly. Diablo products rock!
Again Diablo did well. The Harbor Freight I buy in a mixed 10 pack and get 3 of these flaps under $10. It makes the warrior ones even cheaper worth it at that price.
I’ve spent 3 weeks in a grinding room straight beveling fittings with a Walter abrasives wheel and out of all the wheels I’ve ever used they work the best after there worn down because they don’t cut as hard it’s easier to bevel fittings
I usually criticize your tests pretty hard....but this was an outstanding set up. I like how you describe VALUE at the end as having a variety of definitions. Very nice work!
I would have liked to seen the flap discs from Amazon. Benchmark Abrasives brand. They seem to hold up pretty well and at $2.00/each, it's hard to beat the price!
I'd second a test for this company. Our welding instructor told us to buy from this company since we go thru a lot of disks in class and he thinks it's a really good brand for the money.
+1 for Benchmarl Abrasives. Been using their zirconia flap discs for a while now, and they way outperform the HF discs I've tried. I've also used their sanding belts and bimetal recip saw blades with good results. BTW, they have frequent sales, and the flap disc assortment of 10 was FREE with my last order. Hard to beat those kind of prices/offers.
Cubitron won one of the sanding paper tests he did. I don’t know why he didn’t include one of the 40 grain flap discs. But anyway, he does excellent and fair tests. Easy to understand and great way of not spending money in fancy, but poor performing brands…
@@alexander_konig_coaching Thanks, I don’t think I had seen that test. And I agree that his tests are as fair as can be done. I seldom find fault with any of his test methods and I certainly understand that he has a limit as to the number of brands he can test.
I buy the Warrior ones in bulk when there is a coupon they have the .99 cent each coupons and at that price they are good the the price vs material removed.
I love all these tests that you do man! My only wish at this point is that you had a video showing the top 2 for each one in a video based on price to performance. That way I could have an easy way to find them all in one place.
I'm offended because this test came across as a bit - abrasive - to me. ...(big sigh)... (looking down, slightly shaking my head no)...I know... Just kidding, of course. Well done and thanks for showing us the better deals!
@@philtripe work provides them, we use them to smooth welds and debur the edges of metel. They work better then a grinding disk for sure. And there may be something better out there.
Project Farm another good brand of commercial grade flap and wire wheels made in the USA and pretty affordable by the box is Weiler. I bought a 10 pack of these from Amazon for about $5 per wheel last year: Weiler 51210 Tiger X Flap Disc, Ceramic and Zirconia Alumina, Angled, Phenolic Backing, 60 Grit, 5", 7/8" Arbor Hole (Pack of 10) www.amazon.com/dp/B00YXD7ZU8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_MN1ICbXPPD1VC I would be curious if these high end ones are worth any extra.
Good job. I love those wheels. I did a lot of business with a truck tank shop back in the 70’s and one of their mechanics gave one of those before I even saw them in the stores. That thing lasted forever. Love them. Keep up the good work.
Myself I just run the edge on the steel, which happens anyway at angles buffing up a weld in a corner etc. Where I like using them most is with aluminum, stainless, clean up work, when you don't want to throw a bunch of sparks... and they'll work on wood if need be.
PF, Hello, but when I saw this with the description, I thought what odd disks, for disk brakes, SA I busted out in LAUGHTER as I saw these. I did REFRIGERATION WORK, & had to REPAIR the fan brackets for frozen food cases , when the busted up , with blocked drains, I carried about 100, different fan blades, but very few brackets, it was hard cleaning with a file , to braze them, so bought a small angle grinder , using a grinding wheel, so quickly clean the sink coating off to braze, & that was the ONLY use I had for the grinder . Cheers From NJ USA. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
@@ProjectFarm Hey, ya know it usually gets trimmed down naturally anyway. Unless all you're doing is flat work, and then you can just turn them on their side now and then while you're working. By the time the disk gets a little smaller and so worn it's really not worth all the effort to bother too much... in my opinion.
Can tell you the gorilla glue tough and clear mounting tape is a monster and holds like a beast, have used it to hold on a wireless door bell outside, and my son's pop socket to the back of his phone because the adhesive that came with it didn't hold to his abuse.
@@ProjectFarm If you try this one out look for a brand called Crest! They make auto body supplies and I always reached for their tape over the 3M stuff
I thinking testing the Benchmark brand abrasives would be awesome. They sent me a trial pack awhile back and I have been hooked on them. Prices are fair and the disks hold up well in my experience. I would like to see how they hold up to your testing.
I was particularly impressed with this set up, where did you find the red contraption you used for this set up? I particularly like how it not only pivots but can also be clocked at different angles, super cool but absolutely no idea what that came from, lol
Depends where you live, every other station has its own blend and especially in winter, real cold places has more "anti-gel additives" (paraffin etc) than warmer places, but generally most places where you can get to a cold place on one tank of diesel or it might be cold during the next month has some... More cold equals less diesel and more additives. generally theese additives results in less chance of freezing/gelling, but also a loss of power and worse fuel economy. Testing different fuels from your area might help you out slightly, but odds are that all the stations in your area has roughly the same blend as the climate is roughly the same. Also testing it versus the summer fuel at the same station has its own problems, storing diesel fuel over time without it degrading is not easy, it won't degrade much over half a year in a plastic jug but enaugh to affect the testresults.
I remember watching your first video and thinking, ‘holy crap this guy is as nerdy as me’. I watch these whenever a new one comes out. Thank you for making genuinely interesting content.

These tests are extremely helpful. Just shows that all name brand items or products are better than the cheaper ones. Thank you Todd!
Thanks for the feedback.
Yours have to be the most useful videos on RUclips. Seriously.
Thanks so much!
I've been trying to get humans (ME) out of the Work process for years, has not worked yet...............LOL
lol. Same here. It helps for test jigs but not for real work. Thank you!
@John Parrish...you too!!!!!!
Ha ha ha like it 😂
I want you on my "Zombie Apocalypse" team. "We're gonna take humans out of the equation, what I've got rigged up here is an automatic zombie decapitation device. We'll be testing which mall store katana will work the best, vs these equally dull Home Depot and Harbor Freight machetes." *no sponsors, all equipment was purchased with my own personal food rations, and hand-collected zombie teeth.
lol!
LOL underrated comment of the year!
Great video! Idea for the future: you should test commercial degreasers against dawn dish soap!
Thank you for the video idea!
Yes!! Definitely seconding this idea. Please try Sunlight Original Yellow/lemon in that group, too, please ? My dad used to sell chemicals from a company called National Labs here in Canada, and although he loved their Fasolve degreaser, he still swore that Sunlight was better, especially on organic oils like fish oil ( we used it exclusively to clean the boat and coolers after fishing.)
You are by far the best @ these comparison videos. No unnecessary banter that doesn't pertain to the video. Straight to business right out of the gate. Some of these people feel like they have to tell us what the weather is like where they are at, what they had for breakfast, etc. etc. blah blah blah. Who cares!? I dont. Well done sir!
Thank you very much!
I love your videos man, they're so relaxing. I dont even own any powertools but I love watching this.
Thank you very much!
Could you do a vid comparing diesel anti gel products like 911, Howes diesel treat and others. Great vid as always
Great video idea! Thank you
Adding in with sea foam too
Hi! Cheers from Portugal, I love your videos! Can you make a video testing heat resistant spray paint?
Thank you and keep your awesome work!
Thank you for the video idea!
@@ProjectFarm I second the heat resistant spray paint.
+1
@@ProjectFarm PLEASE! ASAP! Have to fix Lesley's stove.
@@PierreaSweedieCat That would be a great test
I'd love to see you test out wire wheels. Either on grinders or drills or both.
Thanks for the video idea.
DeWalt flap disc cost twice what it’s worth........ just like every other DeWalt product. Great video Project Farm, thank you!
Thank you!
Agreed. But they do make decent corded angle grinders, keep an eye for online price drops as most stores price match. I recently got 2 new dwe402w's for $49 each!
Lol Amen
Thanks for your test results. They help in deciding which products works with the type of job your doing. Nice job!!!
Thank you very much!
another vote for drywall anchor testing, the plastic and metal screw type in 1/2" drywall
Great video idea! Thank you
Project Farm if you test drywall anchors, you have to test togglers... they are the industry standard for AV installers.

Don't worry you can buy them in smaller quantities… And probably can find them somewhere locally like a Fastenal,Grainger or Greybar.
wb5mgr I found a BIG box of them at a habitat for humanity restore for five bucks like three years ago; and I still have a bunch and I always use them. I’ve hung probably a dozen TVs; and for any anchor point where I didn’t hit a stud; used a toggler. I haven’t had one fail yet.
@@JosStrange You made out.... Those are the best hollow wall anchors. I used a couple to fasten my boat seat to the boat deck. Solid as can be.
Thanks for the suggestion!
From my experience, these wheels seem to be cutting WAAYYY less than I'm used to for a 40 grit. Could be the pressure, the way the steel is rotating, or another factor. I love the videos! Keep them coming!
Thank you!
Bit late but agreed....with a 40 grit wheel I could probably have made the entire sheet shiny by hand in a minute.
Technique adds a lot of value to the wheels. This was a machine to test the same conditions between the pads.
I am sure you dudes can put more than 5 or 10 lbs into the grinder.
all of your tests are so elaborate and well thought out, thank you for all the hard work you put into your videos i'm always looking forward to the next one!
Thank you very much!
I would love to see a test video on garage floor coatings impact, abrasion, chemical resistance and so on, or paint on rust encapsulators like por15
Thank you for the video idea!
When I seen the title, I was wondering how you were gonna pull-off this test! You did a great job! Thanks so much for the valuable information you provide us consumers!
Thank you!
Great video, thanks. How about standard belts for a 3" X 21" belt sander ? I find that on some, the glue strip splits before the belt gets worn. J K
Thank you for the video idea!
I second this idea. You can also see which belt will help your belt sander race along the floor at the highest rate of speed!
I appreciate the amount of work and money you put into these. You’re always my first stop when I need to know!!
Thanks so much!
Mans built a whole rube golberg machine to test, most dedication of any RUclipsr I’ve seen
Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for putting so much effort and time in those tests amazing, greetings from Germany
Thank you very much!
Those graphs at the end are such powerful information.
Same feel about DeWalt lol
Glad to hear! Thanks for watching.
Thanks and you are welcome! Thanks for the video idea.
Thank you!
Your awesome man been binge watching ur channel the past 8 hrs lol I cant get enough your so informative. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK👍👍
Wow, thanks!
First off, love the videos! Can you do one on popular car waxes/sealants such as turtle wax, meguiars, etc. Thanks!

you forgot to mention that the warrior wheel almost always has a coupon making it only $.99
Great point! I paid the full price.

Well, you must not have got her at Harbor Freight!
Which flaps are you talking about though? Because my initial thought were here downstairs flaps.

We can all thank Robert Bosch a German engineer, and his amazing R&D team for all the amazing products. Also he's worth almost 100Billion for a reason. Great quality products, priced accordingly. Diablo products rock!
Great point! Thank you
Man I love this channel. I really appreciate the effort you put into these!
I appreciate that!
Again Diablo did well. The Harbor Freight I buy in a mixed 10 pack and get 3 of these flaps under $10. It makes the warrior ones even cheaper worth it at that price.
@bill hill yay! And free multi meter or magnetic tool holder
@bill hill look up hft coupons on the app store. I love it
@bill hill If you can get those at 99 cents you can't possibly go wrong, I guarantee 9 of them would remove more material than a $9 dewalt disk.
@bill hill they have all sorts of coupons and free items with purchase. Its a free app and i use it all the time.
@bill hill Same!
This is the most efficient/ informational/ practical/ channel on RUclips!
Appreciate that!
Well I just bought my last DeWalt wheel I guess
Thank you
I’ve spent 3 weeks in a grinding room straight beveling fittings with a Walter abrasives wheel and out of all the wheels I’ve ever used they work the best after there worn down because they don’t cut as hard it’s easier to bevel fittings
Great feedback. Thank you
I usually criticize your tests pretty hard....but this was an outstanding set up. I like how you describe VALUE at the end as having a variety of definitions. Very nice work!
Thank you very much!
fack off bro
pulkin pulman no thank you
I came here to check before I go and buy a pack and I'm glad I did. Your videos are always awesome
Awesome! Thank you!
I would have liked to seen the flap discs from Amazon. Benchmark Abrasives brand. They seem to hold up pretty well and at $2.00/each, it's hard to beat the price!
Thank you for the video idea!
Would love to see how a 3M flap disc did in comparison
I agree. What is your opinion of the 3M discs? I just ordered some of the Cubritron II discs because a friend told me they are amazing.
@@mikelloyd2013 I like them.
@@SealofPerfection thanks, I’m looking forward to trying them!
I buy the Warrior ones in bulk when there is a coupon they have the .99 cent each coupons and at that price they are good the the price vs material removed.
not a bad idea when grinding metal that is coated with something that gums up the wheel.
I love all these tests that you do man! My only wish at this point is that you had a video showing the top 2 for each one in a video based on price to performance. That way I could have an easy way to find them all in one place.
Thank you!
I'm offended because this test came across as a bit - abrasive - to me.
...(big sigh)... (looking down, slightly shaking my head no)...I know...
Just kidding, of course. Well done and thanks for showing us the better deals!

Noce job, i use the walter at work on a daily basis, they seem to be a great product.
Walter did great! Thank you
for what?? im sure theres a product that will work a lot better
@@philtripe work provides them, we use them to smooth welds and debur the edges of metel. They work better then a grinding disk for sure. And there may be something better out there.
Can you test the 3M cubitron disks as well I've had good luck with them
Thank you for the video idea!
Project Farm another good brand of commercial grade flap and wire wheels made in the USA and pretty affordable by the box is Weiler. I bought a 10 pack of these from Amazon for about $5 per wheel last year:
Weiler 51210 Tiger X Flap Disc, Ceramic and Zirconia Alumina, Angled, Phenolic Backing, 60 Grit, 5", 7/8" Arbor Hole (Pack of 10) www.amazon.com/dp/B00YXD7ZU8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_MN1ICbXPPD1VC
I would be curious if these high end ones are worth any extra.
I use the 3M cubitron discs also, they outperform every other disc I have tried. Would love to see how they compare...
Good job. I love those wheels. I did a lot of business with a truck tank shop back in the 70’s and one of their mechanics gave one of those before I even saw them in the stores. That thing lasted forever. Love them.
Keep up the good work.
Thanks 👍
Warrior also has 40 grit and zirconia based discs.
Great point!
how exactly would you trim these? (the trimmable ones obviously)
ruclips.net/video/uxVGsaHr-mc/видео.html
Myself I just run the edge on the steel, which happens anyway at angles buffing up a weld in a corner etc. Where I like using them most is with aluminum, stainless, clean up work, when you don't want to throw a bunch of sparks... and they'll work on wood if need be.
@@Stikkzz Thnx!
You could use a bandsaw, but be careful the blade doesn’t get too worn down
We found the tiger disc takes the most metal off per minute and last a long time. It's popular in the lower Louisiana area.
What stores?
By far, my favorite youtube channel.
Thank you for all you do. It really saves alot of us.

I love the fact that you always include harbor freight items
Am I going crazy or was the speed on the first harbor freight disk fun really slow?
Can you test best polishing compound?
Great video idea!
@@ProjectFarm cuz i i want to polish my car but i don't know which is the best

Great video! Hey, I’m seeing ads for USB rechargeable batteries, have you tested any rechargeable batteries of any type?
Thanks!
ruclips.net/video/RC3RlKyW2Mg/видео.html
Thanks for sharing.
I’ve used the HF ones before, they aren’t bad for the price.
Thank you!
Test wood glues. I'm curious if I even need wood glue or if I can just use superglue. Your videos are awesome.
Thank you for the video idea!
Never seen trimmable flap discs before. How do you trim it exactly? Its hard plastic.Great test as always!
Thank you! I should have demonstrated how to trim the discs. Walter has a video on how to trim the disc.
This is the only place I come for trusted reviews. Keep it up.
Thanks, will do!
Please someone correct me if this has been done by PF before, but best double sided tape could make for an interesting experiment
Great video idea! Thank you
I would really like to see this one as well
Can tell you the gorilla glue tough and clear mounting tape is a monster and holds like a beast, have used it to hold on a wireless door bell outside, and my son's pop socket to the back of his phone because the adhesive that came with it didn't hold to his abuse.
Thanks for the video idea.
Very good service. My go to.
This guy gives some of the best test reviews if the BEST test reviews..!

Dang dude that's an elaborate setup hinges, drills, wood, zipties...
Thank you!
I was particularly impressed with this set up, where did you find the red contraption you used for this set up? I particularly like how it not only pivots but can also be clocked at different angles, super cool but absolutely no idea what that came from, lol
could you test winter diesel fuel vs summer diesel fuel and see if there is a difference?
Thank you for the video idea!
Can you test grease?
Great video idea! Thank you
Yes, Pro-Ma grease, assume you can get it in the US?.
I remember watching your first video and thinking, ‘holy crap this guy is as nerdy as me’. I watch these whenever a new one comes out. Thank you for making genuinely interesting content.
lol. Thank you very much!
The warrior has a coupon that makes it $0.99.
Thank you!
Yet still overpriced.
@@Thirdbase9 haha
DeWalt is overpriced when compared to the competition. Sounds like their power tools!
Yeah. My thought with dewalt is they have built up a prestige to the common house hold. Most people will reach for the name brands they know. They are on top of the competition in a few areas, but those are in my opinion few.
