Great review. I like how you went over the key factors most people complain about: The feet, and sitting on, or leaning on the tent and bowing or damaging it.
I always "roll" on and off of it. Just seems like it puts the least amount of stress on a single point! Not saying its how you should do it, but i've had mine for like 5 years and weigh 220lbs and no rips yet! Love this thing! *edit* I have a thermarest pad which I've had for years, I use it in conjunction with it. this rolls up into the thermarest pad just fine.
I have one. I superglued all the cross rods and feet together. Why? It’s not a light item for “light, or ultralight” backpacking. I use it for car camping. More specifically, it is in Mongolia with much of my other gear. There you typically have a 4x4 cart your gear around weather you are tripping around by vehicle, hiking or biking. If you too use it in this way I recommend you do the same if setup and breakdown, and or the beeeping rods coming out of the feet drives you crazy. Yes that small feet are a problem in a tent. Glue some foam pads on the feet too. I do recommend the cot despite me preferring to modify it. Hopefully one day this virus will get lost in the wilderness and we can get on with life. Ie I can return to Mongolia, my gear and my summers of fun there.
Had it, for my Super Tenere, hated it too much BS and parts after a long day and in the morning didn't like playing "lego's" twice a day really messed w/my chill. Getting a Helinox Cot lite, yah it's bigger but way less "stuff".
Thank you. I have the helinox cot max. Really love this thing. But, I'm always looking to improve. And, looking at this video, I agree witu you: Too many things, too many step, gotta be careful getting on and off the thermarest cot, nah, that's too stressful. Gonna keep going to helinox. In agreement with you.
It seems like the Helinox Lite Cot is a better engineered product. The only real exception is if you are taller than 6' or you need the width of the Thermarest large.
I use a cheap 'Kiwi bed',slept on it in a car for 3mths solid, and probably about 5 days a year since 2017, starting to tear now, but it was about 10% of the cost of that...not impressed! I use a small Therm-a-rest mat in the 'Kiwi bed' saves the cold coming up from the ground, which I'd rather be off completely...I think Vango do the same one I have, I'll be replacing it with what I have, for a fraction of the cost!
I was waiting for you to show the feet - that I got the impression that you had made! I have this cot and am temporarily using bits of carpet, held on with Velcro but it’s not ideal.
@@WeekendAdventureRides Thank you for taking the time to reply (many don't). I have just searched for 'universal chair leg padding kit' and a whole range of things came up, but none really look like they would work. Because I am in the U.K. it may return different results. Is there any way of seeing pictures of the product, and how you've attached them, please?
Thanks for the review. One question. How did putting the pads on the legs work out for you? The foot contact area seems to be the only concern for most. Therm-a-rest sells a Cot Coaster kit but you have to buy TWO kits (they are in packs of Qty (6) for some reason) to do one cot and at $30CDN/pack that is ridiculous for some chunks of rubber.
Thanks for the thorough review. It seems a little too finicky for my taste. I'll get the FE sport, which is a cheaper version of the overpriced Helinox
The Helinox cot one is much better than this cot, and it is very much fast to install and the take it apart. Helinox is much better in many ways. You should look into it.
I had the chance to test one for two nights. It’s very light and because of that it is also very fragile. I had to ‘roll’ on it, just 1 inch from te ground if I’m on it. The feet do damage the bottom of your expensive tent. It’s a no go…

Really appreciate Your review and will be following for more content.
Godspeed

Great vid, but I've tried this and even with a "light" height to weight ratio, it quickly stretches causing you to bottom out.
It does. And the holes for the feet stretch and tear.

Simple fix is to put the cot under your tent floor. No damage to the tent floor by having the feet outside the tent
How does do on a rocky campsite pad ie will it poke a hole in the tent?
Eventually yes. I put some felt furniture sliders on the bottoms of the feel. Also ended up switching to a Nemo inflatable.

Just use a floorless tent. Saves a lot of weight too
Wouldn't you need an inflatable mattress on top in cold weather?
Likely a good idea. There is a reflective layer but it has a pretty low R value
really like the review, straight on point without any BS, subbed, cheers V!

Thank you...I've been looking at the Helinox cot for about the same price.
This is legit. Really helps me pick out a high quality cot! Nice job!
I love this thing gonna do some serious motocamping this summer
Check the pricing on Amazon.... More like $240 and up.
The price fluctuates frequently. If you are patient you can get a better deal. My suggestion would be to visit "camel camel camel"
Really great video and review thank you
What if they tear
I believe there's a warranty

I'm really not impressed with it after using it for a summer and a couple bdrs

i used an adhesive felt from one of those universal chair leg padding kits

Thanks so much for this review. I've been looking at the Helinox Max, but it is breathtakingly expensive...liked and subscribed.
I really appreciate it!

It worked but still caused damage to the bottom of my tent. This upcoming riding season I'm switching back to an inflatable pad
Excellent review. Appreciate the information.
Thanks for the feedback!
It bogles my mind how could they design such pointy legs that can puncture your tent floor.. for $220 they need to have better legs.
That’s more work than putting together the tent
I dont recommend it. Get an inflatable
Thermarest went with the moon shape legs... the original inventor at luxurylite had circular legs.
Can u sleepng bag with this cot
Thats all I do.. add an inflatable pillow and it's up town
@@WeekendAdventureRides Great review, thank you. What inflatable pillow has the straps, that attach to the cot?
@@SJBarth i purchased it on amazon. I dont recall the brand.
Thanks for the thorough review. It seems a little too finicky for my taste. I'll get the FE sport, which is a cheaper version of the overpriced Helinox
The FE weighs 5lbs though lol
Can get one just as good quality for less than half the cost this
I wouldn't buy it again. Compact cots are a gimic. I used it for a season and it went into storage, I went back to an inflatable.
Sleep on the ground for a few nights -- save ya some MONEY! Then let's talk.

Way too expensive for what you get...
I agree. I used it for the season and was not pleased. Ill be switching back to an inflatable.

$240?! Hell nah
I dont recommend
Great review. But this cot is lol.
Agree, used for a season and switched back to inflatable
way to much work
Your ssoooo slow I'm going to sleep
Thank you for the feedback.
Way too fragile.
