Absolutely the best of the bunch covering all the little cavorts you always run into, Your tip on how to loosen the brake nut with a standard wrench and a bar was a life savor for me. Thanks again Ron
I was frustrated that I could not find anything on my model until this. Your mower looks different on top, but the blade holder assembly /clutch/disc is the same, they were different on all the other videos. Your tip on holding the top of the flywheel worked great. There are a few other minor differences in mine but I figured those out. This was super helpful and I appreciate you doing the video and sharing it!
Yup, upper is a little different but figured it out, and the shroud removal was different, still a PITA. Dremeled the shroud handle off, stupid design, bought a new for $5 plus.
Dont put the wheel adjusters and brackets in wrong...once i figured what i did wrong. Took the new trannie lossened moved brackets so trannie is all the way back..assembled gears...shroud finally fit and self propel works...what a project for a mower that sat in the rain for 5 years. Thanks Dads Workshop
Hi, Kipp: I found both of your video's, the first one had the shroud on my new lawnmower and I could see how to remove it. The second one showed the other assembly that i had to remove that tied in with the fly wheel. Both were extremely helpful and your instructions were very clear. Thanks very much for your help. I also had a hard time with this. Even when I wedged a large flathead screwdriver behind the pulley to keep it from spinning, the nut just keeps spinning. I ended up bending the flanges out to get the belt off, and bending them back. Probably not the best practice but that is what worked.
My belt is too loose and barely propels my mower. I don’t have an easy adjustment cable to increase the tension in my drive belt. How do I increase the tension to Mel the belt tighter???
I try to get the bolts out from underneath the shrapnel but three bolts are rusted and the bolts won’t come off so what would you recommend I used WD40 to lubricate the bolts. What would you use?
I have the type of Honda mower. Last week I hosed off the bottom of the mower deck. I used some degreaser to help clean the bottom of the deck. I started the mower afterwards to dry the deck. Then when I went to cut the lawn this week, the mower motor is frozen like it seized up. Any suggestions on why it happened? Any suggestions to fix it. Thank you for your advice.
Any advice on how to move forward if the Brake assy and Pulley are frozen on the post? 6:21 Not being able to remove them is keeping me from installing the new belt.
Yes, vibration vibration vibration , So I know exactly where you’re at and this is a very common problem. I use and cordless auto hammer NOT! a air hammer to be clear but a cordless auto designed for small brad nails works every time. Also I highly don’t recommend using a pulley puller because if it’s really sized you can potentially break the pulley and or “ears” off. I’ll send you the link if the tool I use.
If you choose to use this method install the blade bolt without the blades all the way into the crank shaft and hit/impact the blade bolt not the crank shaft or pulley and it will vibrate right off with some penetration lube.
The blade holder will spin with mild resistance with the brake engaged this is normal. I would only worry if the blade fails to stop or continues with the brake engaged.
My mower is a 2002 (purchased new by me) HRR2162SDA. It doesn't have the blade stop assembly between the blade and motor. The belt still seems to work fine. I was tuning it up and changing the carb. Thought I would change the belt, and came across this video. Should I change the belt??
So, the blades are spun by the clamping of a clutch...but how is the variable speed of the drive wheels controlled? By the rotation of the transmission assembly which tightens the drive belt?
When I reinstalled the works it looked perfect. But when I tightened the center nut down, everything got tight against the clutch plate and the mechanism will not turn at all now, unless i back of the nut. Can't figure out what could be up. Any ideas
The "how-to" info was informative and professionally presented. BUT......I gotta say, the cheesy game show music is either comedic genius, or the mark of insanity. Anyway, good work.

Plastic cement mixing trays from Home Depot cheaply cover and protect mowers and other low tools.

Good video. Cartoon music is funny 😂. I will try to remember it at my job.
Love the video and thank you for clarification on everything 🙏
Excellent video.
I cant get the nut to come off the pulley on the transmission. The whole thing just turns. Any advice?

Try holding the square part of the shaft with an adjustable wrench or vise grips.

I had the same issue. I had to take off the flange bracket to get the belt off and new one on.
My belt is too loose and barely propels my mower. I don’t have an easy adjustment cable to increase the tension in my drive belt. How do I increase the tension to Mel the belt tighter???
Impact wrench.
Thank you! Very helpful
You saved my a**!

I have service repair manual if you have any questions bud, it’s $40 on Hondas website and a good investment. Thanks for your support.
I have a hrb216 with Roto stop...but I have a hrr216 with the bowtie adapter..can I put the hrb216 engine on the hrr216?
Great video, I can't get my drive disk to slide off. Do you have any tips?
Same here?

Should the blsde holder assembly free spin with little resistance? Our mower turns off when engaging the blades.

I think it’s time to change it if it’s 22 years old

Depend on the angle of the transmission
Thx u so much!
Absolutely

Nice video but audio and video don't match what your actually doing.
Verified, my goal is to make my videos very detailed and easy to follow along. Good eye Leverett.
These models seem over-enengineered. i would never have bought it if i knew this was such a mess to disassemble. Good thing their gone in 2025.
