- Hey, folks! Come join Sam and JT on their maiden voyage of Lords of Ragnarok! JT just got his pledge in last week while Sam was at Origins, and it just worked out that we could get it. to the table today! JT is a great teacher, but keep in mind that this our FIRST play of the game, s we might make mistakes. If we do, feel free to mention it if you're watching live and we'll be sure to amend the experience. But we'll appreciate your grace otherwise. Should be a great time, though, so come check it out! Awaken Realms and Adam Kwapinski ... my personal dreamteam. Such good games, high quality, tense experience, gorgeous minis. It's just pure boardgame love.
For those of you checking the comments. I made a mistake in the rules. When you control a monster, you get to pick its action always. You don't have to roll the dice at all for them. I don't think it affected us in our game, but it makes it even cooler to take control of them. JT

I enjoyed this game alot! Then again I have never meet a Viking game I didn’t like 😊.. a bunch of people think the hunting is to hard but if it was easier it would just be a race to kill monsters.. I love the balance and trying to either win ragnarok or sneak in another victory condition while others are focusing on something else.. two thumbs up from me

Super helpful play through. I like how Kwapniski does games without victory points, they just end suddenly based on several conditions (I’m looking at you, Señor Nemesis and Mr. Frostpunk)
One other small rule mistake: @1:16:40 first person to ally with a Realm gets a free combat card.

Compared to lords of hellas, this one was quick and on time.
My copy just came in today! I think my only complaints are the deluxe runes are really hard to see and the rule book is all over the place like how set up is on page 8 and before that are some starting rules

@@SamHealey6 I haven’t gotten this to the table yet but I’m curious if you had issues with seeing the deluxe runes on the board? They just seem a little smaller than I would have liked
@@TheFancyFilmmaker Frankly, no I didn't. I can't speak for. JT, but I didn't have any issues at all.
The rulebook could have been better and those runes I thought they were going to be much bigger (so tiny, tiny epic games...).
Just bought the game and i’m curious to know if you like it better than Hellas ?

Lol! It’s cool, you can skip around all you’d like. I would say that I like it better on purely thematic reasons. (It’s been a while since I’ve play Hellas.) But it is supposed to have cleaned up a good bit of the rules, too. So, there’s that.
Got the all in and gave this a try. It’s not bad, but to me it was not great. So many area control games that compete for time in my collection and this one is farther down the list. Ending up selling it since it will not get the love at my house. I wanted to love it more. It is gorgeous.

Great video! How would you rate this games strictly for 2 players?
It was definitely fun as a two-player experience. But having not played it with more, I don’t think I can speak to if it’s best or would always be satisfying as strictly a two-player experience.
@SamHealey6 Did you find a copy yet? After playing it yesterday I came to the decision to sell my copy and saw it below you might want one. Mine is all-in pledge with sundrop + monster variety pack. Living in Ireland, but could look into shipping if you want.
