    For those that don’t know, the Curotto family owns Sonoma Garbage Collectors and they made The Curotto Can for their own front loaders and eventually sold Curotto Cans to Waste Haulers throughout North America.
    After many years of wanting to see Sonoma Garbage Collectors fleet in person, I finally had an opportunity to spend a day in Sonoma and I took advantage of it. I arrived in San Francisco early in the morning, grabbed a rental car and drove immediately towards Sonoma. I knew Sonoma Garbage Collectors also operates in Temelec which is before Sonoma, so I stopped there first and before I could turn left into Temelec I saw a Sonoma Garbage Collectors Autocar Wittke with of course a Curotto Can. I met Raul driving the Diesel Autocar Wittke Curotto Can, Raul is a great driver and operates the Curotto Can like a professional. The Wittke sounded absolutely amazing and still operated great for being over 10 years old. There were several 32 gallon carts in Temelec and the Curotto Can would often go 4 blocks without being emptied into the hopper.
    I found a brand new yellow Curotto Can on the side of the road in Temelec. It looked great and it had all the new features that the Dedicated Curotto Can has. The new yellow Curotto Can belongs to Sonoma Garbage Collectors new Autocar Heil Freedom which finished before 10am (they start around 4:00-5:00am) because it needed some maintenance. Later on, I went to their yard and saw their 1998 commercial Bridgeport Front Loader parked out front. Eventually I found Raul returning to the yard in the Wittke. The route manager Matt also arrived to the yard around the same time in the low entry Bridgeport. Matt just finished a commercial CRV Glass recycle route and he was kind enough to start up the Bridgeport and gave me a tour of the yard.
    A huge Thank you to the Wittke driver Raul, who is an efficient and nice driver. The route manager Matt, for operating the Bridgeport and giving me a yard tour. And thank you John Curotto for running such a great fleet and producing great innovations for the waste industry. I have been a huge Curotto Can fan since I first saw one on my street in 2001 and although I enjoy all refuse trucks, Front Loaders with Curotto Cans are my favorite.
    Please make sure you watch the entire video so can see the new Sonoma Curotto Can detached from the new Heil. Along with a commercial and residential (with a custom Curotto Can) Bridgeport and the Curotto Can bone yard. Also check out my pictures on Flickr. The pictures include: the new Heil, older Curotto Cans in the boneyard including the Scalin Eagle, a cart from H&C Disposal from Los Angeles and a Curotto Can getting worked on outside the shop.

      They are are a great company and all their drivers are incredibly nice and professional. The Toters were great, I have never seen such old 32 gallon Toters in my life. Thank you for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed the video!

    So glad to see this!! Only fitting that you would be the first one to check this place out! I sure miss our old Wittkes after seeing Raul's truck. Those custom petals sure are interesting. I bet that's way more comfortable than stand up haha And man that Curotto sure looks neat. Lots of neat carts out there. Those Zarns are awesome! That new Curotto was funny to see sitting in the middle of the street. It looks like a little First Gear bin honestly with how great of a condition it's in. WOW! Matt was a pro with that Bridgeport! He would be a fun guy to watch on route, those were some fast cycles. Great video, I hope you can head out here again!

      Thank you WMmaster626, it would have been great if you were able to come to Sonoma. The Wittke sounds amazing and Raul operates it great. The pedals are a great idea, and it is neat how all their Curotto Cans are custom made in one way or another. The cart variety is great and I have never seen 32 gallon Toters that old in person before. It was funny just seeing the Curotto Can on the side of the road, it reminded me of the La Habra video. Yes Matt was incredibly fast, if it works out I definitely want to return to Sonoma and hopefully you can come. I'm glad you enjoyed the video.

    I really appreciate you putting in all of this effort to make it out there to finally get some video of these guys! That was such a cool truck. Loved all the little customizations they've made to it that made it even more unique. These guys still feel like an old school company which is so awesome to see. Those older Bridgeports they have are so badass. Any idea if the WX one you saw parked by that intersection ever does residential? I loved the one you caught working in the yard too. Good idea to put the bigger belts on the Curotto's here since it probably gives a better grip on the 30's. Amazing job on this one.

      Thank you Alex I had a blast, it is nice that there is finally a Sonoma Garbage Collector video. The Wittke sounded great and it was nice to see a diesel Wittke Curotto Can again. They are a great local company with many customizations and great drivers too. The Bridgeports are great, I did not see any hoses on the arms or forks for a Curotto Can on the WX so it's strictly commercial but that would be amazing to see it on residential. It was nice of Matt to start up the Bridgeport for me and it did not disappoint. I could not agree more, the larger belts work great for 32 gallon (and organics) carts. Thank you Alex, I hope you can get some Sonoma Garbage Collector footage one day, I appreciate the comments.

      I'm glad you enjoyed the video, unfortunately I was just in Sonoma for the day but if I travel back there I will certain film more Sonoma Garbage Collectors. Thank you for watching! I recently filmed a custom Curotto Can called "The Superlight" that I think you might find interesting. ruclips.net/video/pdCY-KkBArA/видео.html

    Holy crap this Autocar sounds just freaking amazing! I just wished Raul slammed the accelerator between stops. What year is this truck? Autocar WX64, right? Now, I have some questions about the route. This was on the Monday route, right? What street did you find him on, and what time did you find him? Also, what was the truck number? I'm thinking about filming this truck, and I want to be able to find it very easily without having to look around for a while for it. Is this Raul's regular truck? Please let me know ASAP.

      GarbageSean it's actually an autocar WXLL because it's a lower entry cab with a Wittke front loader and this is in the city of Sonoma plus this truck has one badass sounding Cummins ISL

    • @GarbageSean
      @GarbageSean 6 лет назад

      A person named Sam The engine is actually a Cummins ISM. The ISM has a loud clacking sound, which distinguishes it from the ISL. Plus, some ISM's are super throaty, depending on the exhaust.

      The Monday route is in Temelec, and they are usually finished by noon since they start at 3:30-4:00am.

    He has one 300 grabber finger and one universal grabber, that's weird.

      Are you referring to the rubber belt? Both grippers are standard grippers for Slamin Eagles. I have seen the 300 Gallon HD Curotto Can before in person and the ends of the grippers are much larger, theres a few videos online too you can watch. This exact Curotto Can I believe is made from their custom Organic Eagle (shown here at 0:18 ruclips.net/video/Doe1mePOKYk/видео.html) Curotto Can. It has the larger rubber belts on the grippers, just like the 300 Gallon HD. I assume the reason for the larger rubber belts on this Curotto Can is so you could get a better grip on Organics carts (when it was used for organics) which can be a little slippery, which seems like a great idea. Thanks for watching and hopefully you enjoyed the video.

    Do you know if Sonoma has been infected by Recology yet?

    • @westernwastemanagement1892
      @westernwastemanagement1892  6 лет назад

      The city of Sonoma has a contract with Sonoma Garbage Collectors so Recology will not actually be in Sonoma, just the Sonoma County area. Hopefully there are some more videos from actual Sonoma in the future, it is hard to beat Sonoma Garbage Collectors.
