That’s a lot of vertical lines...16 inch width is perfect! Do they make anything wider in smartside B&B than 16?!? 24 inches would be even better!
Why exactly are the furring battens done at 8" nominal spacing if the boards are fastened only along the edges. What is the center furring batten batten doing? And which LP product is used for the exterior battens? Is it the 190 series 2.50" w x .563" trim board?
Please tell me, is it possible to use "flood" solid stain on LP? I want the color of real cedar but cant afford real wood! Will a stain product stay on?
I had LP composite lap siding on my home built in 1986. By 1993 about 60% of it, according to their inspector, had swelled and mold growing behind it. The class action LP siding lawsuit gave me around $800 compensation. I resided with Hardie plank which has performed well. LP Smartside may be an ok product but LP burned me once and won't get me again.

Your furring strips are not covered with a house wrap (Tyvec), so that the back of the siding is not in contact with a WRB. Does this agree with LP installation instructions?
What nails are you using? I can’t find the nails that lp requires for this . Definitely can’t get them for that metabo nailer you are using either . You go with .092?

Peel the T1-11 off, apply sheathing of your choice (plus house wrap if raw OSB), put sleepers on and put the board and battens on. Easiest thing to do is when you cut the sleepers for the rain screen spacing is run em on a table saw, then set your corner, make a spacer/jig that is the 16” minus half the width of the sleeper plus the 3/16” needed for the spacing so the space doesn’t grow on you like happened in this video, and then using the spacer jig like he did but you don’t have to rip down and paint the vertical panels.
