Thank you all for joining me on my trip to Devon, I hope you enjoyed all these videos! I hope to be back very soon to head up to Barnstaple! Next week we're back in the North West to finish off the Hope Valley series
Thank you for coming down!
Got to do the Padley Chapel walk at Grindleford on the Hope Valley Line
Yay decon
Such a beautiful part of the country. It's amazing that the branch lines and the intermediate stations survived the mad axe-work of the 1960s. Thank goodness they did.
Great video Jen, The journey from Newton Abbot to Paignton is a nide journey and also does have a disused station on that line at Kingskerswell which the platforms are still there. Did used to go to Paignton for a Holiday and rode the Paignton an Dartmouth Steam Railway (former name) a few times. I would love to go back there and make a video on that Steam Railway but the problem is they only run express between Paignton and Kingswear now and don't stop at Goodrington Sands and Churston
How did you comment on this 2 weeks ago when it was only posted 6 hours ago?
Dartmouth Steam Railway is quite unique in a sense the last couple summers you could buy a National Rail ticket to use the line (v expensive tho and only runs 11-5) but defo one of the nicest heritage lines. In November/December they'll light the train and carriages up to do special Christmas services which I assume was why it was running when you went
Theres a shop thats really good for postcards in Paignton. Paignton is more family oriented like blackpool. Torquay is where i go on holiday and there are THREE costas, Paignton only has one.Torquay is good for shopping and if you like boats bit more upmarket. I recommend the cherry tree hotel in paignton for cheap accomodation 🙂👍🍦
that is a beautiful part of Devon Torquay & Paignton are both lovely seaside towns which i visited in 2016 & all the stations on this line are lovely & i def woudnt mind going back one day awesome vlog
Station announcements, always when you want to do a link, i feel your pain!! That and a random chainsaw or leafblower!! Great set of videos Jen, thanks!
Thankyou!
Excellent video Jen . I am enjoying watching you in Cornwall.
My favourite part of the south west, thank you for taking me there…… I feel blessed now. Loving your videos, thank you
What a neat line! Omg! I didn't know the Dartmouth Steam Railway had the other Devon Belle Observation car! 😍😍😍 OMG! It'd be so cool if you rode both of those a d compared. Or just rode Swanage Railway and Dartmouth Steam Railway! 😂😁
Thanks Jen. I love travelling Britain with you. 🎉
Looks like a great trip, Jen - thank you for sharing. There must have been a number of stations between newton abbot and Plymouth that were closed at some point - that part of the line has few stations compared with Exeter - newton abbott
Great video Jen I enjoyed watching.
I've loved the series, thank you for uploading all the videos! I can't wait for the next one!
And Newton Abbot was a Motor rail station were trains went to Inverness and Fort William.
I passed through Totnes station last week and cycled along the cycle route last Feb.
5:28 I can confirm that past Jen is not having fun getting her ear chewed out by announcements future Jen
I wish I’d know you were visiting my home station (NTA) I’d have come to say hi and buy you a coffee! ❤
Jen points at a HST... You are correct... I love an HST
Torre station definitely needs weeding 😬. Great video 🙂
I remember it back in the day when it had that huge semaphore signal gantry..
We're an island, one does wonder why we don't use more hydro electric on the coast, our larger rivers etc, nice vlog, I miss Devon & Cornwall, tfs, be well x
That fourth platform might be something of the steam days as there would much more engine shunting might have been necesary in that time !
Another enjoyable video Jen! 'A bit of British Rail signage, some people would love that' When you say 'some people' do you mean Bryn?
Nicely presented - you seemed a bit more upbeat than of late
I've enjoyed watching.
Another lovely gentle Jen video.
No Ice Cream? No Chips? I heard gulls I expected treats.
Will you be doing St. Austell and the Eden Project or have you already been there. The Riviera line is still a unique railway line in Devon.
Is it nice or.....Nice! Apparently the latter is twinned with Edinburgh?
Dunno - but the biscuits are tasty with a cup of tea 😊
The South Devon Railway for Dartmouth is worth it for a punt in summer. I remember when Paignton was closed and had not been open for some time. Brixham is nicer. What no ice cream or chaps?
Tourquay is best viewed from a distance. When we first started going there you could spend a day. You are lucky to stretch it to an hour nowadays
Nice scenery, especially along the coast, but some of the towns could do with a bit of TLC
Next time you're down Devon way and in Newton Abbot they have a bit of a GWR section, actually the museum is called Newton Abbott Town and GWR museum if that sort of thing interests you, it's the other side of town from the railway station, well a walk though town .
Also if you do the Dartmouth Steam railway for a future video you might want to go in the run up to Christmas as they do a 'Train of Lights' event where certain trains and carriages have coloured christmas lights adorned on them but that's probably a good reason for two trips, so you can do the stem train and ferry in the summer too
Brilliant video Jen, those announcements were interrupting you far too much lol. I still need to visit Paignton at some point as that's the birthplace of one of my parents. :)
Torquay is beautiful, Aslong as you are in the wrong town.
Paignton on the other hand, even if you are in Santander or Buckingham place, if there is an inkling in your mind you might actually be in Paignton, then you will probably come across someone who let’s just say “is in their own world”.
I realise this video shot was done a while ago. However,A ve4ryb warm welcome to Devon...from a Lancahire lad.
Great videos. Sorry if you have explained this before, but what is it in particular that you hate about Voyagers.
Jen, you should go to Somerset next
Comment on cleaning at Newton abbot. Surely that you remember. The state of the railways during the 70s and 80s. Where everything was run down. Ok maybe you won’t being a. Youngster 😊
Would u ever come down Taunton as thats the start of the English riviera down to painghton
😊
Arr you riding TfW again?
Are
Trains Station 🚉
Is "see it say it sort it" the most annoying automated announcement ever?
