Yes! Glad you made it to my local line. Yes the car park at Digby is annoying. I believe its owned by Stagecoach so they only want bus users though. Its only half full because there is a better park and ride at Honiton Road. And yes, you should have spent longer at Topsham, its amazing. Looking forward to the rest of the line and your going to Exton. Happy place!
It just feels like such a waste!
Just started watching your videos Jen.
Absolutely love them.
Keep posting.
Brilliant video Jen, I personally don't see why all stations with park and rides shouldn't have an option for using the bus as well to be honest. Also the M5 is one I've had to endure for a very long time on car journeys to and from Cornwall lol.
I used to do this line every day when I was at Exeter college. I moved away just before they opened Newcourt and was slightly weirded out when the train stopped as mentally I wasn’t used to the train stopping between Topsham and Digby
Hi Jen,
Another enjoyable trip "in the can". I don't think I have travelled on this line, so one for the bucket list. That Topsham Quay looks interesting...
Take care,
Jon B.
I kinda want to go to Topsham Quay and look at the antiques now, that town was beautiful!
St David’s is the first station I ever caught a train from as a child. A big noisy smelly diesel intercity hst to London!
I know you’re not a fan of the old creaky hst but every time I catch one here in Cornwall it immediately takes me back to that moment and will be sad when the last “castle class” as they are now known pulls away.
Great video, Jen. I used to live 5 minutes from Exeter central (and I was even closer to st David’s for a year) and I worked while I was at uni in an office near digby and sowton - this brought back memories!
Well said JotM , about building stations to serve local housing. It’s a great idea that I hope someone at the DfT and Network Rail, might be considering
I'm guessing the private station at the end is Lympstone Commando, it did used to be a request only stop for the staff at CTCRM until they built the footpath into Lympstone village.
Arr lovely to see that you are riding my local line :) Topshom is gorgeous, very expensive to live there though :) looking forward to the next episode
This is a particularly good video from Jen, making some strong and valid points from on the ground -- which makes them even easier to understand and appreciate.
I agree entirely regarding the need to have community-based fast public transport; if not by full-on rail then perhaps by tram. One way or another!
Always loved this line, although I haven't ridden it for many years. I think it was my first ever experience of a Pacer too. Thanks Jen, looking forward to part two,
Brilliant Jen, I have been on this line a few times before and it is really nice cannot wait to see more of the Avocet Line
I was definitely a big fan of this line!
4:52 Totally not looking at Stratford Parkway when Jen says that
Love this being from Exeter and working in Newcourt (before Covid anyway 😅)
I think the way most property developments are carried out are nuts. Pockets of houses with no access to public transport, no where near any shops, any form of employment. Therefore, excluding those that can't drive and forcing those who can to have to drive everywhere. We certainly need more stations situated like Newcourt.
That's what I like about our local line, many of the stations on the line are in a town or village, so you can walk to the station.
So nice seeing my home city and the surrounding area which I'm fairly familiar with :)
Thanks
Thank you so much for this!
Great video once again Jen
im loving all the stations & Topsham quay looks amazing & its weard to see 166/165s on that line but looks wrong but i totally agree about park & rides we should have a coice on eather bus or train too be honest the train you can go further than on the bus brilliant vlog
Great video Jen 😊
Maybe there should be more new railway stations on that branch line. As well the proposed Portishead line to reopen with new railway stations to be added as well.
Great video as usual Jen! I'm sure I'm not the only one to notice the places are EXmouth and EXeter! I wonder if the 'EX' has any special significance
The EX is the River Exe.
Just a lovely area around that quay. I’m drawn towards water as well. I get it.
I really enjoyed your.
I love the similarity in architecture between Exeter St Davids and Cardiff Central.
Brilliant 👍
It is a lovely line, one of my own happy places. (Apart from the disaster that is Exeter Central of course - way too small, you have to queue to get out, especially at the weekend, and like St. Davids, too many officious announcements)
I didnt know about the Sowton Park & Ride. Thats pretty shambolic. Exeter does pretty well for stations serving it's immediate area. Marsh Barton is quite similar (in terms of new stations). And Exeter City Council do quite well for putting in the transport links for these developments like Newcourt. Again, Marsh Barton is for a new development up the river, among other things, and there is land safeguarded on the Avocet line of a recentish development.
Excellent video Jen.
Exmouth service continues to Barnstaple, Okehampton and Paignton ?
Great video Jen
Where Can we Buy Jen on the Move Calendar's ?.
Come to Leeds city train station 🚉 They are building a new car park there 😒
Do I see a Starbucks cup?
You did! Costa was closed 🤣
Have the class 150 taken over the mantle of the Pacer
What day did you vist devon as i might of saw you as I am at St Davids daily
The P&R rule is pretty much unenforceable. Worst case scenario is waiting to enter car park until the attendant moves on, but that's very worst case.
Could you please do a race between central London and Gatwick on gx thameslink and southern
Trains Station 🚉
