- Merseyrail Wirral Line links Liverpool City Centre to Chester, Ellesmere Port, New Brighton, and West Kirby.
It has one of the best stations I have ever visited; it really is that good! Find out which one during the video.
As well as this station, we visit Hamilton Square, James Street, Moorfield, Liverpool Lime Street, Conway Park, Hoylake, West Kirby, Birkenhead Central, Rock Ferry, Port Sunlight, Hooton, Ellesmere Port, Capenhurst, Bache, and Chester.

Great video, it's made me seriously consider having a mini holiday to Liverpool next year and explore the line.
Thanks for this. I'd definitely recommend a mini holiday in Liverpool. Plenty of stations and places to explore on both the Wirral Line and Northern Line. Lots to see and do in the city centre too.
great video. one thing i noticed though was you said conway park opened in 1988 however it opened in 1998 as i remember visiting this new station in 1998 when it first opened as i was still a school kid
I can remember going to Liverpool in the late 70’s in North Wales and having to change at Rock Ferry. Bachelor replaced Upton by Chester.
I recall, in April 1956, after spending a week kitting out at RAF Cardington, near Bedford, getting an RAF special train from there to West Kirby, which I think, went through Hooton. Having grown up in third rail country, near Waterloo, I was amazed to find another third rail system there.
Good to hear your recollection. The line between Hooton and West Kirby closed to passenger services in September 1956. I first visited the current Merseyrail network during the early 1980s, in pre-Internet days, and remember being amazed about the class 503 EMUs and also the third rail.
@@chriswithhiscamera2454 The electric trains I recall must've been the LMS ones. They were green, if memory serves. And they had tube-like sliding doors. I think their replacements were used ones from Southern Region. We went to New Brighton a couple of times, to the funfair and a dance at this place with a very strange roof. I later found out that New Brighton had once had a Blackpool-style tower on top of the dance hall, hence the odd ceiling. It was built about 1900, but neglect and the effect of the sea air on the tower during World War One, when no maintenance was done, made it unsafe and it was demolished about 1920! The things you find out!

Just a headsup, if you want to learn more about the history of the merseyrail overall, feel free to let me know, it may have approximately 92 stations now but in the past there was up to 170!

The mystery building at Hooton is the waiting room for the old branch line to west kirby and now sits within Wirral country park (AKA) the Wirral way. I was ranger here as my first job and still work for the authority the building had a wall fireplace and the remnants of what look like a stove fitting and some fairly nice tiling inside.
You missed out three stations, Bebibngton, Bromborough Rake and Bromborough
