A lot of great advice here, and it is nice to hear your honest comments on your present situation. Something about you is just so interesting to listen to. One thing that you mentioned, quitting a job at eighteen after three days, I can't really buy into that. I think most of us have had jobs that we didn't like, but hung on for better times. Right after high school, my daughter worked at McDonalds, as a hotel maid and at a boat manufacturer as a grinder/sander. None were easy jobs for her, but she stayed on and never complained. And during that time, she managed to get an Associate Degree from a nearby Community college. Is she financially successful now, not really, but she is happy living with her husband out in NW Washington in a small home, basically in the boondocks. I imagine that you have had some difficult times the last four years, but with you being so smart and pretty, I think the best part of your life lies right around the corner. And I am very sorry that you have said that you don't have friends to go out with right now. That is a real bummer. 🙋♂
You touched on something that sometimes dream about; having a group of friends who bond over dinner, trying out different restaurants, foods. I think it would be nice to have dinner parties. At least for me, associating with people who are like me removes the pressure of feeling inadequacy, you know, not worrying about saying I enjoy a certain wine, knowing someone at the table is a sommelier. I would much rather enjoy dinner with friends like you. Some of the ideas you mentioned in this video- I hope your online friends here are a good sounding board. Yesterday I watched your debut video, subscribed instantly because of your raw honesty. Now this. Yes. Things have been found. Not sure what hard place you survived, but as burnout survivor I see and connect some small signs. You seem to be in the know of your current capacity, and that it might not be much, but you are managing your spoons and are trying to see what is and is not interesting to you now. I am rambling. What I wanted to say was: thank you.
My wife of 40 years suffered from anxiety and very low self esteem. These feeling originated from her family. My love and my loving family failed to help in many ways, however Kathy said that we did help. So there. Keep you head up things can change inside and outside of you, be patient with yourself...we are all a work in progress.

I can’t wait to see how your channel grows, to see you build something from scratch. Don’t let people get you down, push forward and overcome. If you want to do something in the restaurant business then do it. Remember all the feelings you had before posting your first video, you posted it then you must have felt like “ok this wasn’t bad” and now your doing it. I owned a small pizza shop and the stress of cooking and taking orders SUCKS. Being in the Marines was easier. I had an idea for school where one day a week/month all the kids go "work" a job somewhere locally and as they grow up they can get an idea of what they would like to do or what they are good at.
Yes, go out and do things that interest you and tell us your honest opinion about them without over thinking it. Your real personality is what we want to see, so don’t try to fit into some other mold.

Hey Erika, I actually love the idea of trying different jobs. As a 30 year old who just quit my job, I'm currently in the process of evaluating what I want to try next. Part of what makes it so difficult is not really knowing what a job entails because most job descriptions are pretty vague. A channel that explores that seems like it could be a good niche for you!
As with every content creator, we come to the channel for the person. Not everyone is here for the same reason, but ultimately we are all here to see and listen to you. Keep up the hard work, continue to improve and enjoy yourself.
Gosh, how about getting a job in a bakery? I had a friend who worked at a French bakery in Seattle and she absolutely loved it. I can totally visualize you doing that and really feeling happy. Go for it!!
I think you have a pretty darn good idea for a channel. It probably has potential to grow really big (who am I to say, I'm not a successful youtuber) and it seems to be useful and relevant. You should definitely keep it up. We usually don't see the journey of people who make it big because they only start popping up after their success. This is an opportunity for you to document the journey in real time.

Also, if you want to food review, start with things that you like. Visit places you already know, in order to get comfortable sitting somewhere public and just review the food. Do this for practice. If you hear about a local place, or someplace new, maybe check it out. Don't need to be a pro, just give an honest opinion and be yourself.
I love baking as well, and I would be glad to take you out someplace. Its to bad you are so far away though. 😢 Your channel can go in any direction, you can do the cooking videos, you could go to the beach and walk around, the possibilities are endless!

If you do really like baking ,I think if you go to some bakeries and explain to the boss your situation, ask if you can work by the day to see how you like the job and how they like you. (If they don't listen, then it's a non starter, move on to the next one) it could lead to a permanent position. Don't be afraid of rejection and don't have any expectations, just wait to see what happens.
It's good to see a type of personality that we don't commonly see in videos and questioning society. My videos are different too. Some people get upset that I figure out how to do something during a video instead of practicing beforehand and keeping it short, but that's the freedom of RUclips. It may reduce views however. I'm probably going to not do that much, but it's still an option.

Look people you see her videos and as such you have a small vision of who and what she is and I find it hard to believe she has no one to go with. I have had many decades of adult life and multiple vocations and careers. As I blow past Senior Citizen and approach becoming elderly I confess I still don't know what I want to do when I grow up. Some would say I am already grown up, but since I find or learn new things every day, I would dispute that. Okay, whatever, point is don't be discouraged by uncertainty. Try it, you might like it, if not just walk away from it. Never keep a kob that isn't fun. Being happy is much healthier than being rich and not happy. Speak from you heart and walk your talk. No one likes hypocrites or people who lie. Things you haven't discussed.., location (country, state or region),your civil status felon or not?), marital status (single looking, married, single not looking, etc.), employment status (do you own the pots and pans behind you, or someone else does?),, high school graduate (or not?), residence (your own place, living on someone else's dime, part of a commune, etc.?). Looking forward to hearing those things..
Okay; good to hear your perspective and ideas on this channel. If I may offer a few observations? First off, remember to give yourself some time and some leeway in the development here. You are willing to experiment with the different avenues you have available, and to analyze your strengths, your weaknesses, your ambitions and your results. That's a solid start. Not everything you try will "just work out" and that's fine. You are growing this channel in part because people out there are weary of being "Mary Sue'd" to death by Hollywood. Growth as a character, whether in fiction or in reality, is a process and if you start out perfect no one CARES about your success because you overcame nothing to get there. It rings hollow. So if you are worried about being seen as a "RUclipsr" or some such, keep in mind that YOU are writing the script here (even IF some of the chats are stream-of-consciousness) and what draws people to you is honesty as to who you are. That IS respectable, so long as you choose to maintain that in your character. This is RUclips, not OnlyFans. It is only disrespectful to yourself IF you choose to make it such. As to your other goals/ideas/plans- just a suggestion, but figure out what you have the capability to do and work your plan into using that to reach your goals. If you like baking but you don't want to work in a restaurant or to go to chef school, great. Have you considered getting some recipes together, polishing them out and figuring out how to scale them up, and starting an online bakery business? Either distribute them locally and see if you can find venues that will sell them in their stores and/or offer them online. Find out what the regulations are, get a business license, etc. and do it legitimately, and use the channel to document the process of doing so while also serving as a marketing tool in the process. Or if you want to go another route, how about approaching small independent businesses in your area with the idea of gaining them exposure by allowing you to work a shift there and document the job (and feature their business in the process) and call it something like "The Day Apprentice" or "The Shift Queen" or "Fun with (insert business name here)". Pitch it to them also as a potential employee recruiting method. I would imagine that, IF it catches on, some of these businesses *might* even be willing to talk terms for being featured on your channel, which would help with the growth of it- hiring camera, crew, gear, editing, etc. I guess it's just my MBA coming out but I can see where you could be in a position to do well with this, IF you keep it honest and relatable. Food is important. Last night I scalded my hand with boiling water just taking some zucchini our of the microwave. My girlfriend's mother was Chinese and a great cook who owned several restaurants. My girlfriend herself did waitressing for years while trying to get her career as a screenwriter/film director going. But whatever you do, I really appreciate you and what you do here on RUclips.

Just keep real and keep putting out your truths and you'll be surprise how many people you'll help. Most people are actually broken and it's brave of you to show your true self. The people we see on social media are often disguised to seem to be sane.
RUclips content creating/creatorship, like life itself, is a journey; as it is for us viewers, too. We're all on a journey. We'll have good ones and bad ones. Enjoying and dislikes. But, I think most viewers enjoy real, honest content regardless of what the content being watched is. So... Be yourself, be honest, whether you succeed or fail, don't hide yourself or your emotions. Viewers will be viewers.
I like your cooking and baking segments; I like the fact that you are using ordinary kitchen utensils to cook and bake (you didn't have a rolling pin so you improvised - that's great; so many shows require you have $4000 worth of specialized equipment to cook and bake). You approach the subject as "every person" - an average person learning to cook and bake - not an expert with 20 years of experience.
You could rate how easy or hard it is to purchase and replicate famous dishes on your channel. Sorta like adding the traveling along with buying the food to prepare your meal and rate how easy or hard it was to make and if your version tasted good or sucked. Just a thought
When you learned to walk, you fell a lot, got lots of bumps and bruises, you didn't learn to run until all of that happened, Let the bumps and bruise come, do what feel is enjoyable and the path will revile itself later in life and then its just a grind, and wish we back wondering what the hell to do. Just do it and accept the out come, that's how you learn,
I think in some ways you are known. You say you don't have any friends or you suggest you don't have any purpose. But we don have some knowledge of you. For example, you keep yourself well kept, well dressed, clean and very tidy. You are obviously not without means, a nice home, it's very neat and clean. You are well spoken, and presumably have sufficient income to live well. So there are little snippets of you that we do know. Stay well, keep your thinking and communication going and don't let anyone put you down, don't even dwell on it as there are people on this channel that do not judge. Take care.
I'm in my 70's and have had many jobs from entry level to very high end. An important life lesson is that in every level of job it is important to "Do what ever is needed in the moment regardless of your official job". That makes you invaluable to your employer and will bring self satisfaction IMO. I believe in you BUT DO NOT let the haters win on here win! There are many more of us who want you to win, whatever that means to you.
Take the channel where you want to, in the beginning you had a thought to run and much like life you are evolving. Move with yourself. Evolution make it about what you want. You got this. Just Be Yourself

Your willingness to try new things will serve you well. Obviously, there are a LOT of things that you could do that are just too risqué for you. Never give up your morals and standards. At twenty-two I really didn't know what I was going to do either. Now, at 72, I have done more things in my life than most people can even imagine. Never stop learning, never stop trying. Take on jobs that you think you can't do and let people teach you how to do it. Take classes at your local community college, volunteer to help at senior centers and shelters. Find a part time job sweeping floors in a small shop and ask questions. Above all else, never stop learning. I can't stress that enough. You've got this, go for it.

I love her and attempt to inspire her to do MORE, come stay with me, let me support her efforts and attempt to help her get focused. Even bringing her kids with her. I've offered to adopt each of the 3 OTHER children she's had and either aborted or put up for adoption. Just 'do you' and keep posting videos, I'm cheering for you! You are NOT alone here.

I still believe in you, and you are coming up with some good ideas. Maybe you could try foods at restaurants, then see about your ability to reproduce the dish, maybe better it in some way, or put in a creative twist of your own. Build your following from people who like to try the same thing - 12K+ subscribers is nothing to scoff at for just 30 days on air! You might even end up building a cookbook that Amazon could sell on a print-on-demand basis. As for your anecdote on working 3 days in a restaurant, I'm betting you didn't think we would find that very interesting, but I thought it was great, and I can picture future talks about experiences like that really bringing you home for us, letting us get to know the 22-yr-old budding chef, or whatever you choose to be. A lot of great advice here, and it is nice to hear your honest comments on your present situation. Something about you is just so interesting to listen to. One thing that you mentioned, quitting a job at eighteen after three days, I can't really buy into that. I think most of us have had jobs that we didn't like, but hung on for better times. Right after high school, my daughter worked at McDonalds, as a hotel maid and at a boat manufacturer as a grinder/sander. None were easy jobs for her, but she stayed on and never complained. And during that time, she managed to get an Associate Degree from a nearby Community college. Is she financially successful now, not really, but she is happy living with her husband out in NW Washington in a small home, basically in the boondocks. I imagine that you have had some difficult times the last four years, but with you being so smart and pretty, I think the best part of your life lies right around the corner. And I am very sorry that you have said that you don't have friends to go out with right now. That is a real bummer. 🙋♂
You touched on something that sometimes dream about; having a group of friends who bond over dinner, trying out different restaurants, foods. I think it would be nice to have dinner parties. At least for me, associating with people who are like me removes the pressure of feeling inadequacy, you know, not worrying about saying I enjoy a certain wine, knowing someone at the table is a sommelier. I would much rather enjoy dinner with friends like you.

Yesterday I watched your debut video, subscribed instantly because of your raw honesty. Now this. Yes. Things have been found. Not sure what hard place you survived, but as burnout survivor I see and connect some small signs. You seem to be in the know of your current capacity, and that it might not be much, but you are managing your spoons and are trying to see what is and is not interesting to you now.

My wife of 40 years suffered from anxiety and very low self esteem. These feeling originated from her family. My love and my loving family failed to help in many ways, however Kathy said that we did help. So there. Keep you head up things can change inside and outside of you, be patient with yourself...we are all a work in progress.
You’re doing what a large majority of RUclipsrs started doing. Then most did a 180° change. Keep doing what you’re doing, and do what you enjoy. You will see that your original subs will stay.
This is something that I wish more people would understand. Most people hate the way videos are done now, I am sick of these formulaic videos and influencer attitudes. I owned a small pizza shop and the stress of cooking and taking orders SUCKS. Being in the Marines was easier. I had an idea for school where one day a week/month all the kids go "work" a job somewhere locally and as they grow up they can get an idea of what they would like to do or what they are good at.
Yes, go out and do things that interest you and tell us your honest opinion about them without over thinking it. Your real personality is what we want to see, so don’t try to fit into some other mold.
Passion is often found amongst the rubble of who we once were... measured against who we have become and noticing the difference and then having a passion to share it or to make it happen.

Hey Erika, I actually love the idea of trying different jobs. As a 30 year old who just quit my job, I'm currently in the process of evaluating what I want to try next. Part of what makes it so difficult is not really knowing what a job entails because most job descriptions are pretty vague. A channel that explores that seems like it could be a good niche for you!

I think you have a pretty darn good idea for a channel. It probably has potential to grow really big (who am I to say, I'm not a successful youtuber) and it seems to be useful and relevant. You should definitely keep it up. We usually don't see the journey of people who make it big because they only start popping up after their success. This is an opportunity for you to document the journey in real time.

Also, if you want to food review, start with things that you like. Visit places you already know, in order to get comfortable sitting somewhere public and just review the food. Do this for practice. If you hear about a local place, or someplace new, maybe check it out. Don't need to be a pro, just give an honest opinion and be yourself.

Well done Erika. I haven't watched all your videos yet. If you do really like baking ,I think if you go to some bakeries and explain to the boss your situation, ask if you can work by the day to see how you like the job and how they like you. (If they don't listen, then it's a non starter, move on to the next one) it could lead to a permanent position. Don't be afraid of rejection and don't have any expectations, just wait to see what happens.
It's good to see a type of personality that we don't commonly see in videos and questioning society. My videos are different too. Some people get upset that I figure out how to do something during a video instead of practicing beforehand and keeping it short, but that's the freedom of RUclips. It may reduce views however. I'm probably going to not do that much, but it's still an option.

Look people you see her videos and as such you have a small vision of who and what she is and I find it hard to believe she has no one to go with. I have had many decades of adult life and multiple vocations and careers. As I blow past Senior Citizen and approach becoming elderly I confess I still don't know what I want to do when I grow up. Some would say I am already grown up, but since I find or learn new things every day, I would dispute that. Okay, whatever, point is don't be discouraged by uncertainty. Try it, you might like it, if not just walk away from it.
Never keep a kob that isn't fun. Being happy is much healthier than being rich and not happy.
Speak from you heart and walk your talk. No one likes hypocrites or people who lie.
Things you haven't discussed.., location (country, state or region),your civil status felon or not?), marital status (single looking, married, single not looking, etc.), employment status (do you own the pots and pans behind you, or someone else does?),, high school graduate (or not?), residence (your own place, living on someone else's dime, part of a commune, etc.?). Looking forward to hearing those things..

Okay; good to hear your perspective and ideas on this channel. If I may offer a few observations? First off, remember to give yourself some time and some leeway in the development here. You are willing to experiment with the different avenues you have available, and to analyze your strengths, your weaknesses, your ambitions and your results. That's a solid start. Not everything you try will "just work out" and that's fine. You are growing this channel in part because people out there are weary of being "Mary Sue'd" to death by Hollywood. Growth as a character, whether in fiction or in reality, is a process and if you start out perfect no one CARES about your success because you overcame nothing to get there. It rings hollow. So if you are worried about being seen as a "RUclipsr" or some such, keep in mind that YOU are writing the script here (even IF some of the chats are stream-of-consciousness) and what draws people to you is honesty as to who you are. That IS respectable, so long as you choose to maintain that in your character. This is RUclips, not OnlyFans. It is only disrespectful to yourself IF you choose to make it such. As to your other goals/ideas/plans- just a suggestion, but figure out what you have the capability to do and work your plan into using that to reach your goals. If you like baking but you don't want to work in a restaurant or to go to chef school, great. Have you considered getting some recipes together, polishing them out and figuring out how to scale them up, and starting an online bakery business? Either distribute them locally and see if you can find venues that will sell them in their stores and/or offer them online. Find out what the regulations are, get a business license, etc. and do it legitimately, and use the channel to document the process of doing so while also serving as a marketing tool in the process. Or if you want to go another route, how about approaching small independent businesses in your area with the idea of gaining them exposure by allowing you to work a shift there and document the job (and feature their business in the process) and call it something like "The Day Apprentice" or "The Shift Queen" or "Fun with (insert business name here)". Pitch it to them also as a potential employee recruiting method. I would imagine that, IF it catches on, some of these businesses *might* even be willing to talk terms for being featured on your channel, which would help with the growth of it- hiring camera, crew, gear, editing, etc. I guess it's just my MBA coming out but I can see where you could be in a position to do well with this, IF you keep it honest and relatable. Food is important. Last night I scalded my hand with boiling water just taking some zucchini our of the microwave. My girlfriend's mother was Chinese and a great cook who owned several restaurants. My girlfriend herself did waitressing for years while trying to get her career as a screenwriter/film director going. But whatever you do, I really appreciate you and what you do here on RUclips.

Just keep real and keep putting out your truths and you'll be surprise how many people you'll help. Most people are actually broken and it's brave of you to show your true self. The people we see on social media are often disguised to seem to be sane.
RUclips content creating/creatorship, like life itself, is a journey; as it is for us viewers, too. We're all on a journey. We'll have good ones and bad ones. Enjoying and dislikes. But, I think most viewers enjoy real, honest content regardless of what the content being watched is. So... Be yourself, be honest, whether you succeed or fail, don't hide yourself or your emotions. Viewers will be viewers.
I like your cooking and baking segments; I like the fact that you are using ordinary kitchen utensils to cook and bake (you didn't have a rolling pin so you improvised - that's great; so many shows require you have $4000 worth of specialized equipment to cook and bake). You approach the subject as "every person" - an average person learning to cook and bake - not an expert with 20 years of experience.
Keep posting, keep pursuing. Discovery is never immediate but gradual. This idea that you can one day declare yourself accomplished is flawed❤
You could rate how easy or hard it is to purchase and replicate famous dishes on your channel. Sorta like adding the traveling along with buying the food to prepare your meal and rate how easy or hard it was to make and if your version tasted good or sucked. Just a thought
When you learned to walk, you fell a lot, got lots of bumps and bruises, you didn't learn to run until all of that happened, Let the bumps and bruise come, do what feel is enjoyable and the path will revile itself later in life and then its just a grind, and wish we back wondering what the hell to do. Just do it and accept the out come, that's how you learn,
I think in some ways you are known. You say you don't have any friends or you suggest you don't have any purpose. But we don have some knowledge of you. For example, you keep yourself well kept, well dressed, clean and very tidy. You are obviously not without means, a nice home, it's very neat and clean. You are well spoken, and presumably have sufficient income to live well. So there are little snippets of you that we do know. Stay well, keep your thinking and communication going and don't let anyone put you down, don't even dwell on it as there are people on this channel that do not judge. Take care.
I'm in my 70's and have had many jobs from entry level to very high end. An important life lesson is that in every level of job it is important to "Do what ever is needed in the moment regardless of your official job". That makes you invaluable to your employer and will bring self satisfaction IMO. I believe in you BUT DO NOT let the haters win on here win! There are many more of us who want you to win, whatever that means to you.
Take the channel where you want to,
in the beginning you had a thought to run and much like life you are evolving. Move with yourself. Evolution make it about what you want. You got this. Just Be Yourself

Your willingness to try new things will serve you well. Obviously, there are a LOT of things that you could do that are just too risqué for you. Never give up your morals and standards. At twenty-two I really didn't know what I was going to do either. Now, at 72, I have done more things in my life than most people can even imagine. Never stop learning, never stop trying. Take on jobs that you think you can't do and let people teach you how to do it. Take classes at your local community college, volunteer to help at senior centers and shelters. Find a part time job sweeping floors in a small shop and ask questions. Above all else, never stop learning. I can't stress that enough. You've got this, go for it.

I like cooking, especially dishes I've had overseas but I can make vegetarian. Last night I made Japanese soba noodles with dried shiitake mushrooms which have to be soaked for 30 minutes, stir-fried onions and sweet pepper. Hey, I watched your whole video for the friendly company. Thanks.

The fact that you're searching to see what you will do is very relatable. I've got a decent job and I'm also busy with volunteering etc in my free time. So at first glance, it looks as if I've got it all figured out. At the same time, however, I'm wondering if I couldn't do things that could be even more useful or things that I like even more... ER: I love what you're doing on this channel, and for your 1-month anniv., it feels like you are still trying to define things, but wow what a jump forward from the 1st show. I still believe in you, and you are coming up with some good ideas. Maybe you could try foods at restaurants, then see about your ability to reproduce the dish, maybe better it in some way, or put in a creative twist of your own. Build your following from people who like to try the same thing - 12K+ subscribers is nothing to scoff at for just 30 days on air! You might even end up building a cookbook that Amazon could sell on a print-on-demand basis. As for your anecdote on working 3 days in a restaurant, I'm betting you didn't think we would find that very interesting, but I thought it was great, and I can picture future talks about experiences like that really bringing you home for us, letting us get to know the 22-yr-old budding chef, or whatever you choose to be.
