I have a very similar personality to yours, which lands me in the same situations. Feeling a lack of direction, starting things then losing interest , the sudden urge to drop everything and start over on the other side of the country (I've done it twice and am resisting doing it again), laying around doing "nothing" all day and feeling guilty about it, the frustration of seeing everyone around me "succeed" while I flounder. I'm turning 56 and while I can't say it ever goes away, I've finally started to come to terms with it. What's helped is realizing there's nothing wrong with me, this is the way I, and you, are hard wired, but it does have it's strengths. You're intelligent, a deep thinker, and unconventional, your channel plays to all of that, you're doing exactly the kind of thing you should be. You're life will never be traditional, don't compare yourself to people who are living on those rails, you have to find your own path and meaning, and though I know that's exhausting, you're doing it! There's a lot more I could say, but this is such a weird way to try and communicate. Anyway, appreciate your authenticity as always.

A wise man once told me that expectations were premeditated resentments. Also, one of the reasons to appreciate the small things (or, say, plans that don't turn out as expected) is that it teaches us to see the little opportunities within them. That's what can snowball into big changes.

I've been doing a little walk/run every day from Moonlight to Swami's and back. When I feel like I'm not accomplishing enough, going to the beach stops that feeling because I then see 100s of other people also not doing anything. haha! But you are actually inspiring me to start a video journal of my thoughts. I feel that everyone should do that, so we don't have to repeat it to every new person we meet. We could just refer them to our channel and they can then decide if they are interested in being friends. Kind of like a disclaimer. haha

the "little things" part was so real too. same with "gratefulness" . like i get that the point is to be grateful and that is the key to happiness or whatever but like, it gets difficult when life is just going on a downwards trend. there's only so much of "at least i experienced something good once" i can do, so many "at least i have a roof over my head and i ate food today" entries one can write in the gratitude journal
hope this doesn't sound mean but i found your moments of despair funny. not bc of the despair but because you cut them up in a funny way (to me) hahahahaha. best of luck this week, hope it gets better

If I ordered the food whilst sitting, and you brought it to me...

Like the people sitting right next to you on the beach, I always park my car out where no one is, and when I come back to it, someone has to be parked in the next space right next to me. Why? I don't know if it will help, but count your blessings. It appears you have your health and a roof over your head and food to eat and a car to drive. That's more than many in this economy. Your essential needs are met, so time to move in some direction. Fortune favors kinetic action. It doesn't matter which way you go, only that you go. You can always change course later.
Take stock of your strengths and explore what you're good at. Everyone is good at something.
From the outside looking in, I can see that you're intelligent, analytical and highly verbal. By verbal, I mean you have good command of the language and are able to express thoughts cogently. Why not look into a writing gig? It will be something to do, you'll earn some income, and you will feel positive about moving in a productive direction which can lead you to other opportunities.
Bottom line is you're the captain of your own ship. You control your direction and are solely responsible for your successes and failures - whether you sink or swim. So swim girl, swim. Aimless hedonism is the path to perdition, so get after it!

Besides the headaches, what are keeping you from living in the moment?
I found this format of video very interesting and informative about you. You worried about somebody seeing you not give a tip for an ice cream, but does it really matter? It’s not like it’s required and chances are the people don’t know you anyway. The people at the beach, why not just ask them was there a problem with another part of the beach that they couldn’t give you room? Again, it’s not like you’ll ever see them again and even if you did, maybe they’ll give you space then.
You’re an attractive, smart young woman. Put a leash on your pup and just go for walks in different places. Be sure to take some water for the pup and a bottle so that he’s taking care of. Clear your head and start enjoying life. If there are obstacles and you’re willing to talk to people about it, I’m sure the be some very good suggestions.
And I know most of your videos start with an apology, but you know it’s not really necessary to start with sorry. We are here voluntarily because we want to have the interaction with you. Be safe.

Erika, as a person whose native language is not English (apologize for that) my first comment on your channel. I like your channel, first of because you seem to me like a very intelligent and honest down to earth person. So very likeable. Some thirty five years ago, when I was at university, meeting someone like you would have been great. I was so shy back then ... (o.k. let's not fall for this like time frenzy rabbit hole...😉). I want to share one thought, which YT AI presented to me in form of a mind boggling video, not long ago. It goes like this: It seems, that the majority of people have kind of lost their inner self. It's obviously not the body but it's also not the mind. The inner self is something different. And oftentimes people are slaves of their mind, which tortures them with negative thoughts, all the time, kind of spiraling out of control. I live a rather stressful life due to my job. Yesterday I started to command my mind, not to disturb my inner self. "Stop it!" I tell it (not like the guy in your neighborhood)😉I feel already some kind of inner peace slowly arising. In the future I will only allow my mind to disturb myself in intellectual situations, often job related. But not elsewhere. I hope it allows me to better deal with my stress. To change the subject, I could imagine Erika, that you could become a great (amateur) golfer and your channel could become golf related. There are so many lovely golf courts in your country. Perhaps something for you to consider. All the best.

You're definitely not failing at this, you have almost 15k subscribers and consistently decent viewership in a very short time.
What I'd be very interested in seeing, would more videos where you've clipped together parts of activities from different times of the day, just short-clips pieced together in some logical order, but keep a central longer portion. It's more edit work for sure, but you can also clip in your work on editing as well :P

Wow. The first thing I would like to say is that,I’m glad that you’re taking the first step to open up about yourself. And my suggestion 😁 don’t be so hard on yourself. Look at all the accomplishments that you have made. You live on your own and you take care of yourself. You have moved to a new area that you’re not from. And of course, that by itself can be very intimidating. But at least you are trying, and you’re keeping your head straight. You have high ambitions. And that is a very awesome and important in life. You obviously take good care of yourself. And yes, it’s important to exercise and live a healthy lifestyle. But sometimes we get overwhelmed about every day life. And it gets frustrating when our country seems very chaotic right now.. I really hope that you will be able to run into some good people. That will actually be real friends to you. That can help you open up and experience some things in life that you normally don’t get to experience. I hope that someone can show you how to parallel park the correct way. And that can help you and many other things that you’re having difficulty with. And actually be a true friend you. With no hidden agendas!!!! That client itself is just so hard to find. But there is a few still out there. Just don’t get overwhelmed and think about things so hard. When I get overwhelmed about things. I tried to step back, calm down and look at the situation again.. and most of the time I figure it out. And if I can’t figure it out. I find something to do to keep me occupied. And as far as that man you have ran into that is talking to himself. At least you know what he looks like. Please avoid him and all cost. I really hope things will come together for you. I don’t know if other people have told you anything about how your videos are helping them. But I can tell you. They have made me look at things different. it helps to know that you’re not alone in this world. We all have our personal problems. And yes, you’re helping people more than you know. Thank you for sharing your life with us.. you have a friend here. Have a great day. And I do hope your headache has run away. Big hugs.😊

I’ve done some things that I’ve had interest in all my life , just never got tired of doing it !
Age restrictions has made me stop doing two of them because they are physical, the others I just keep doing !
I’ve noticed this tip idea that seems to be sweeping the country has started where I live , some services like restaurants I’ve always tipped but a cup of coffee on the go from a coffee stand I’m just not too keen on , a cup of coffee for $4.00 is okay for my driving journey but with tip now it’s $6.50 so I quit stopping at stands for a cup of coffee during my drive !
It was kinda funny in a way but a friend of mine kept track of his coffee $$ for year and came up with $180.00 annual ! Oh my I said do you know how much coffee you can buy for that amount for home brewing ? It adds up ! Money that could be applied to something useful and needed like fuel for your car !
A UPS driver I know said he was spending $300.00 a month on just coffee , he said I had to stop grabbing 2-3 coffees every day !
I had a favorite cafe that I took my terrier to every morning and we enjoyed it , ya it costs ! The cafe sold and was converted to a bakery and I don’t go there now , do I miss going to the old cafe , yes I do !

    Emil Cioran:
"Everything is possible, and yet nothing is. All is permitted, and yet again, nothing. No matter which way we go, it is no better than any other. It is all the same whether you achieve something or not, have faith or not, just as it's all the same whether you cry or remain silent. There is an explanation for everything, and yet there is none. Everything is both real and unreal, normal and absurd, splendid and insipid. There is nothing worth more than anything else, nor any idea better than any other. Why grow sad from one's sadness and delight in one's joy? What does it matter whether our tears come from pleasure or pain? Love your unhappiness and hate your happiness, mix everything up, scramble it all! Be a snowflake dancing in the air, a flower floating downstream! Have courage when you don't need to, and be a coward when you must be brave! Who knows? You may still be a winner! And if you lose, does it really matter? Is there anything to win in this world? All gain is loss, all loss is gain."

I think that you are a person who sets very high standards (for themselves and everyone else) and then quickly judges everyone (especially herself) very harshly and inflexibly against those high standards. That makes it nearly impossible for Anyone to "pass" / "succeed" - especially for yourself - in your eyes. Makes it tough to have any friends (as they don't measure up or you feel like you must not measure up in their eyes). Most of us are on a spectrum of this very characteristic. Some even more so, but mostly less so. I know, because I've experienced it myself (am one) and in others in my own family. Most people are much tougher on everyone else than then\y are on themselves (levels of narcissism, being blind to their own shortcomings - you are definitely Not a narcissist). Seeing the world as either Black or White (i.e. Right or Wrong) is typically the disease of an Engineer (guilty). It took me a very long time to finally realize that the world is made of different shades grey. The Tibetan Buddhist Compassion meditation helped me (took several sessions and repeated explanations by the Sr. Monk), as did my interpersonal relationships - Time.
Being hard and judgmental on yourself is partially to blame for you not finishing much of what you've started: You start something new and, when you see that you have not quickly mastered it, you convict yourself of incompetence and quit, feeling inadequate and like a failure. Afterall, who wants to feel incompetent? (Guilty as charged). What worked for me was sitting my rear-end down, picking a goal that I actually wanted to accomplish, setting up a plan and a schedule, with small, achievable daily goals (sometimes even hourly). There are free SW out there for it these days, but in my days I'd just write them on a piece of paper and post it to the mirror, fridge, car, everywhere and anywhere so I couldn't miss them - no excuses. If it was something that I wanted to become a habit, then the repetition would "make it so". Sometimes (studying) I'd have to bribe myself by setting timers: 10 min of "play" for 50 min of "chore" (studying). At 61, I still have to resort to such "silly" crutches because I cannot change my Nature. But I've found ways to overcome my own shortcomings - at least in these areas - that work for ME. I am sure that if you search long enough, you'll find your own "crutches" that'll work for you.
I am sure that an anthropologist would tell us that being judgmental (like being social) must have had a reason to survive in humans as a characteristic that helped us survive. But, like I once heard a behavioral scientist say: any behavior that in moderation is good becomes bad in excess: Staying with something through thick and thin is good. Not being able to change direction after it has become obvious that the current path leads to failure is bad (being inflexible). Being flexible is good but constantly changing one's mind is bad (being wishy-washy). So... I know that you started this series looking for ideas about how to deal w/ your personal issues. I hope that you are finding some ideas that will soon start to work for you and that this helps.
By the way, perhaps the people who chose to sit close to you were interested in socializing with you and thought that you might be interested in it too. Or they "thought" that they are going to give you (a solo young girl) a sense of "protection" and safety. Who knows? Did you ask? Did you let them know that you were looking for privacy? Since none of us can read each-other's minds (or feelings), it might help if you displayed a sign that indicated so ("Privacy, please! 30', if you don't mind! Thanks"). Some people might be shocked. Others might appreciate the honesty. Either way, you'll likely get what you want, so long as you ignore the "judgy / talky" people who'll blurt out something inappropriate as they move away (some people think that they are so special Everyone wants to be near them and talk to them / learn their life's story / opinion / what they had for breakfast / their BM / etc...). (I think that this is from the aforementioned Compassion thing.)
Ah.... Another bout of Pontification accomplished. I now feel soooo superior: An Old Man getting to tell other people - especially the young - how they should live! ROFL
    Thanks for the opportunity.
We are ALL pulling for you to Succeed and find happiness. We All appreciate Very Much that you've decided to share So Much with us and to take us on your journey of self-discovery / growth (why else would we be here?). Ah to be so young and full of so much potential - as you!
Take good Care of yourself. And while you are at it, perhaps show some compassion and forgiveness for yourself....

Henry David Thoreau once wrote (paraphrased): "The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation." By "men" of course he is referring to species, not gender. By it's very nature, life is a contact sport. The longer you live, the more punches you will take. How one reacts to those punches is key. You can either roll with the punches, wipe off the blood and go your merry way... or... you collapse into a ball and resort to alcohol and / or drugs to help you cope.
Years ago, when a very close (and young!) friend was dying of cancer, I told her "Every day is a gift and tomorrow is never promised." Ericka, you're only 22. This is the perfect time to spend in personal reflection ,and just going out and doing daring and stupid shit - preferably not losing life or limb in the process. L'Chaim - you know? BTW, creating a YT channel and sharing your fears and uncertainties with the world certainly qualifies as some daring shit. 🙂
Oh! No.... I haven't watched the Paris Olympics. The only sport I watch is Formula 1 racing. Es muy macho. Like bull fighting with tyres. 😎

Show business (aka your own youtube channel) is one of the most amazing careers possible. You gotta keep it up! Yeah, tipping for ice cream should be like 50 cents. If you get a California State Park annual pass, lots of nice parking but wont work in the county or private lots. Yeah, lots of free parallel beach parking but many times you are seriously risking your life.

My pet peeve is people on top of me when there’s plenty of space and screaming kids too-I have the same reaction--it happens in the movies, in parking lots, at the beach …one lady did it at IKEA to breast feed-then her husband came in and sat between us like I had encroached on her lol
People haven’t been watching the Olympics for years, but I did watch the swimming and gymnastics-hadn’t seen them in decades.
Thanks for the fish and garden update
Maybe watch that You Tuber Sorelle Amor …she did a “I learned to surf in 14 days” …and she retired by 35 because she created a bunch of intellectual property revenue streams via You Tube …She started by simply documenting for herself.

So if somebody sits right next to you when there's a lot of empty space, just turn to them, smile and say, "just curious, but can you tell my why you sit right next to me when there's so much open space?"
If people do things that make you curious, just ASK them.
    What are they gonna do?

Have you tried Uber or Lift to the beach? I find it hilarious that the girl who says she wants interaction is repulsed by an OLD couple with kids sitting next to her. That is about as safe an interaction on the beach as there is. Let me guess, you couldn't move because then they would think you moved because of them, and you couldn't have that? "You can't do anything?" You have a lot of reasons not to do anything, a lot of excuses. Do you like your job? Trick question, you are not excited to wake up every morning, I can see it. You have to make your meaning and find your direction. It's a process and it is a glacial slow one especially if you take steps forward towards a goal. I know I've said it before but, are you talking to anyone for help, with anything. Failure at everything, ugh so drama. Where is this pressure coming from? Did you ask the guy how his day is going? Cause that sounded very judgey about a dude yelling at himself. You feel stagnant... doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome is madness. If you spend a lot of time thinking about you. What you want, how you aren't this or that, you might think about what you can do for someone else. Volunteer somewhere. Take a community college class, self-defense class or a musical instrument. Anything to get you out of your head. Good Luck, I don't think I should give you any more advice. I'm old and seeing you go thru this is triggering.

Meaning by nature must be transcendent to its environment. There's simply no meaning to be found in all that happens under the sun (ecclessiates if you're interested). So, either you force yourself to be ignorant and live for the here and now, or you put trust in a cause greater than the causes. There's no escaping a need for faith/confidence (con fide, with faith) in something. I am absolutely convinced that Christ is the only way to find the one "why" to bear a thousand hows.

It's not necessarily a bad thing to feel lost, especially at that age. From 19 to 24 I was in a similar spot. Things changed when a certain woman walked across my field of view one day. Then, after 24 years, that fell apart. I've been stumbling along since then (12 years). Ups and downs... You seem like someone who's in need of a soulmate. But, you can't make that happen, of course. I do think you have a lot of self-awareness and that is good, as well as a great sense of humor (the self-deprecating type!). That's good! As lame as it sounds, I would say just live in the moment. If you don't feel like going out, don't. I think the key to life is not going out and 'finding' something (someone). Rather, it's being dialed in enough to be aware when someone walks across your field of vision and you're in a place to pay attention. You seem like you're there.
Btw - I get it that what I wrote may seem simplistic. But, it's also timeless. It's what countless poems, books and songs have been written about for a reason.
    And all in good time.

I also can relate to your annoyance at tipping. Cut the basil down a bit and it will regrow bushier. As to the channel, how about some "Erika reacts to" videos. I think you could put your insight and intelligence to work on analyzing the minds of people doing crazy things.
