The loss of Keith Whitley, Princess Diana, Dale Earnhardt, and 9/11 during my childhood growing up that will always remain a scar on my heart and soul.
We loved Dale Earnhardt Sr and watched him win the Daytona 500 in 1998. We watched him sail thru Heaven's gates in #3 on February18th 2001. I am sure he made a grand entry but I know my Jerry and Sugar Bear are happily watching him race in Heaven! I will join them all later! Gloria and Bear from Tx
Still to this day. One of the hardest things I ever delt with as a kid. Dale is still the man. Best driver to ever be behind the wheel of a car. RIP GOAT
That’s what happens when you either deal with it as a kid or put way too much passion in something that you actually have no tangible stake in. I was a senior in high school when Dale died. I thought that it sucked that he died, but then again at least 6 drivers I liked died on track or died young. Indy and cart are the only 2 series I refuse to watch anymore. I quit watching when Senna died. Finally decided to watch a race again after many years and it was the race Dan Weldon died in.
Nascar had forever changed in a true Earnhardt fan . Yeah we watched for the black Chevrolet to come thru the pack . We shed tears when fans in the stands held up 3 fingers to salute Dale . I personally couldn't watch anymore . I collected every book , newspaper article and all pertaining to that day . I never opened one book ever since. I am now more of a weekly dirt track fan . I have attended races weekly for stock cars since 1980 .in Canada and in Florida during the winter months . I will always be his fan !
Wrong. Many drivers have more top tens, more poles,, better average finishes, more wins and 2 other drivers have the same amount of championships (7, jimmy johnson and Richard petty). There are no facts that support your statement. Lemmy Kilmister once said that nothing makes someone better or more popular then tragically dying. There are many famous people who are now considered greats when before they died, they were not considered special. Same thing happens with artists. Most painter’s art ain’t worth anything until they die.
After Sr. Passed away Nascar hasn't been the same. So I completely stopped watching the races. You are missed by millions of fans. What a heck of a driver he was.
This man Dale Earnhardt saved a sport that only people from the south LOVED....he made people like me from NEW YORK be glued to the TV every Sunday afternoon...thank you Mr. Earnhardt...R.I.P.

I was a massive hater of Earnhardt then. He drove a Chevy, for god's sake! My brother and I would make up all kinds of nicknames making fun of "The Intimidator". "The Masturbator" was my personal favorite. I was all of, I think, 13 when I coined that. We hated him, in a Ford vs Chevy kinda way. But after Daytona? I know I shed tears, and I'm pretty sure my brother did too. Dale Earnhardt was a legend, and he'll never be forgotten

After reading just a few of these comments, I realize that I can't possibly reply to them all, but here goes: Dale was my hero. I watched him from my daddy's lap from the Wrangler blue & yellow days, until the day he died. I don't care what anyone says about circle-burners, he made it exciting. Seeing Michael Waltrip getting emotional breaks my heart for the man. I always admired him, and my heart goes out to the poor guy. The greatest achievement in his profession came largely due to Dale Earnhardt believing in his driving ability. I can only imagine the "what ifs" that went through his head after the accident that claimed his friend's life. :-(
It makes me Sad too I feel so Bad for Michael Waltrip as the passing of Dale Earnhardt Sr. Effected him Terribly my Heart Breaks for Dale Sr.'s Son Dale Earnhardt Jr. also as the Passing of his Dad Effected him Terribly also
NASCAR should have retired the number 3, just as they should retire the 43 when he passes. These two drivers contributed more to making NASCAR what it is today, and they deserve that honor.

Man this is just heartfelt and tearjerking as Davey Allison's tribute song from the band Alabama at the '93 Diehard 500 at Talladega before the race. Seeing all these in the audience that night who truly loved Dale like of course Richard Childress, Michael Waltrip, Chocolate Myers, his own son Dale Jr. and so many, many more breaking down and getting emotional makes me cry too.
Its been almost 17 years since that tragic day at Daytona International Speedway. Hard to belive its been this long. We were all looking to see one of the best finishes in NASCAR history that afternoon. Not to be. With that. We are coming to a close to the 2017 season in Homestead FL. A nd now, we say goodbye to another Earnhardt. Dale jr. He's retiring. The story and legacy of this racing family has brought to us, is among the best in motorsports history. Or in any sports in general. The Earnhardt family has been apart of our racing family for almost forty years. And still continuing with the younger Earnhardt generation with its future to come. We all say Thank You, for giving us joy and some heartache all these great memorable years. The #88 car will be missed, but definitely not forgotten by its beloved fans. #3 forever!

Even if we do not see it just believe it. We in the Body of Christ walk by faith not sight. Thank you Dale Earnhardt.
Teresa took down the dynasty that Dale was building all because she loved money more than Dales legacy. Sad that everything he worked to build just went away. I hope she enjoys her wealth.
Went to high school with Theresa. Dale picked her up most every afternoon. She was a senior in high school. That witch has the brains the size of an earthworm, or should I say tapeworm.
you could always look at her and tell she was that kind of person. They modeled the main female role in Talladega Nights after her. I can't stand conceited and arrogant people like that who are so far gone and brainwashed over money and objects than the love of a person. I was a big fan of #3 and always will be for what Garth said here: it was for more than just a driver but a great father, husband, and human being. Dale Earnhardt will forever be the man when it comes to nascar.
Thank you Garth Brooks very well said. To Dale Earnhardt thank you for great memories. And To Dale Jr. Sad see you retire full time but having a child and this sport can take you at any turn on track. Miss seeing you and your dad driving. Happy Father's Day. Dale Jr
It just seems like yesterday that Dale left us. >> I still get emotional when i watch this video mmm >> Great job Garth > this song is so fitting for this occasion.

Dale's was the shit. I still get tears. I worked for a large company (2500 employees). I went to the owner of the company asked to let me take the flag to half mast and raise my 3 flag below it. He let me also let me leave without clocking in to go home to record all coverage. What a man, never will be another.
Dale JR. This brought me to tears still this long after his passing but to see you remembering your father he has been in my heart forever and like you I watched him every Sunday be the intermediate just to win 1 more. Heart out to everyone that made this man dreams come true.

+Dee Ray what did she do?
the intimidator was nascar and will always be nascar.
James Stokes agreed
There will always be one number 3 and will never be replaced 3 Dale earnhardt Sr. Rip nascar racing was never the same again.
Its the day before Thanksgiving 2019 and this still make me cry every damn time! The goat. Haven't watched a race since
Yes it just brought tears to my eyes again, new years eve 2019
I can't even tell you who just won the championship this year. I lost NASCAR when NASCAR along with everyone else lost Dale! Rip Dale
I remember the day Dale died very vividly.Hit me in the heart like a sledge hammer.
Rest in power #3 man I miss watching him drive the hell out of them cars.
I love Dale Earnhardt
Simply the greatest there was that song even though I have heard it and liked it before, now for me it will for ever be tied to Dale Earnhardt.
2023 I come back and still cry.
I wish he was still alive. Racing is not the same without him and his son.
Legends never die. Dale Sr will live on in the hearts of all Nascar fans forever.
Still makes me sad that Dale had to die to get the award of the year...13 years later I still feel this way. Love You Dale
I'll never forget that day or that race. Heaven gained another angel. Dale will always be the best.
What a great song to sing for the best driver I have ever seen, glad I didn't miss the dance. R. I. P DALE EARNHARDT.
Yes, you Definitely could feel the presence of that “ Big Smile” in that room ✨ So many hearts breaking... “Will Never Be The Same”...R I P Dale 🌿
Dale's was the shit. I still get tears. I worked for a large company (2500 employees). I went to the owner of the company asked to let me take the flag to half mast and raise my 3 flag below it. He let me also let me leave without clocking in to go home to record all coverage. What a man, never will be another.
Still miss watching Dale race in 2019! Still hard to believe he’s gone. RIP Intimidator!! ♥️#3
No matter how many times you watch it it’s like the first time. 3 RIP
NEVER WILL I FORGET THAT HORRIBLE DARK DAY. 🙏❤️🥲🇺🇸✌️
2019 and I still cry.
Dale JR. This brought me to tears still this long after his passing but to see you remembering your father he has been in my heart forever and like you I watched him every Sunday be the intermediate just to win 1 more. Heart out to everyone that made this man dreams come true.
