Volvo is very underrated in my opinion, lovely cars, put together well and a little less mainstream than the default BMW or Audi. Having owned all three brands, Volvo is my favourite. It's a shame they depreciate quicker than their rivals though.
Completely agree with you that Volvo is underrated. Compare the V40 with Merc A-class ,Audi A3 ,BMW 1 series and in almost all areas it is better than them.
When I had my A3, I lost £6k from new in 3 years. I traded it in for a C30 when they first came out and lost £11.5k in just over 18 months - gutted to say the least!

too many speed cameras and too much traffic have taken away the 'fun' factor of driving now so its got to be comfort, economy and practicality..this is a great car high on my list of next car to buy.

Yes, I did. The V40's a likeable car for its safety and modest looks alone. But if you wanted a more engaging drive and overall better car, the Audi A3 is more appealing, in my opinion.

I completely disagree with the lack of fun in the V40. I’ve driven a BMW 3 series, VW Golf an an Audi A3 and this is easily as fun to drive as the faster variants of these cars (at least in R Design). The gear box isn’t notchy at all and feels better than the BMW, although the clutch isn’t quite as slick as in the German cars. Plus, the Volvo’s suspension is far quieter than the Beemer. Granted, the steering isn’t as good as the BMW, but it’s good enough. I’m sure these reviews tell people what they want to hear rather what they should hear.
Love its design, wish volvo revive this beauty! That stance, posture everything seems perfect! Just a little work on interior and i think its ready for 2020!

Booking a test drive as my 7 year old C30 is nearing retirement, have driven other makes, admittedly not bmw, Audi or Mercedes but all come up short on refinement. My days of fast cars are gone and I need a luxurious comfortable cabin with necessary mod cons.
Car Keys UK I personally wouldnt have one as I prefer larger Volvo's however my girlfriend wants one because she wants a solid, safe smaller motorway car. When it comes to Safety, Volvo have always gone the extra mile so is worth the premium price these V40s command
Hey, because the V40 is based on the ford focus I wonder if it's much less fun to drive? if you have driven both, are they really that much different? because all I hear from the Focus is that it's great to drive
Everything about this video is brilliant,but look crocky park is wild be carful you don't get robbed and just talk in your normal voice drop the affectation,it will make you stand out more ,but well done I really liked this I'm going to buy a v40 soon
I have a Volvo v40 t5 which is 245bhp and that is just as good to drive as a bmw m135i and Audi s3 infact better nand that is really sporty he chose the lowest power engine too
May not be as exciting to drive as a one series BMW equivalent, but highly unlikely to fall to bits or have many many faults over ownership which is guaranteed if you buy a BMW these days

If memory serves me correctly it was based on the prior gen Focus which was just alright. The current focus is superior
