      Ah, another man of Volvo tuning culture, though we have Elevate oil coolers on our side of the ocean. D088, however, is the intercooler gold standard.
      Though he should add the d088 airbox, more air flow, but no induction noise and it looks stock.
      A 3” exhaust would open that T5 up correctly and allow it to exhale.

    The platform under these cars is really good when set up right. They're Volvos but they can handle. I don't think this was making more than stock power but the engine is very tuneable - but needs at bare minimum a bigger intercooler and oil cooler before you go on track. No doubt the limp mode was temperature related and a good thing it happened because both IATs and oil temps can be dangerously high on the stock items.
    There's no way this car is making 340bhp, and 430nm would be low for a 340bhp 5 cylinder. I would guess that this car is stock powerwise at 260hp.
    I have a C30 T5 which is the predecessor to the V40 and very closely related in terms of the chassis, but with a sportier body and less electronic nannies. Manual, makes 316bhp/384lbft, on BC coilovers with pretty much everything suspension related uprated, 6 piston wilwoods up front and Mk3 RS on the rear, and fat 255 wide R888Rs. It's really good fun and will surprise a lot of people. I compete in club motorsport and usually wipe the floor with most of the tin top cars.

    A real FIVE cylinder Volvo T5 is always nice! A V40 T5 is quite similar to a Focus ST, and if you want a better front axle, an LSD, proper cooling, quicker steering and Recaro seats, just buy a Focus RS from 2009-10 and enjoy the drama and the lack of depreciation.

  • @dontcare32123
    @dontcare32123 7 месяцев назад

    I am not surprised it got hot and flustered being caned around the Ring in 30c ambient temperatures and without cooling mods.
    The transmission is the exact same one as used by BMW in the early M135i XDrive (2.0T) before they moved to a DCT. It's pretty decent but significantly better after a RICA TCU map, who are one of the few companies to offer a TCU map for the 8 speed Aisin Warner transmission. The same transmission in a Polestar is also much better but I still think the RICA TCU has the edge as it shifts much faster and the map can be purchased independently of any ecu upgrade. Even with a standard car I would recommend the RICA TCU.
    Like most cars, the V40 T5 really needs some cooling upgrades (intercooler and oil cooler) if it's going to be used on track, especially during the hot summer months. Nice daily!

      I can tell you what a V40 D3 CC 6Auto is like. 5cyl diesel has plenty of power (though mine has probably been tuned by the previous owner to 200HP), the 6 speed Aisin auto is fine for daily driving, shifts are perfectly fine. Mine is a 2014 model so no paddle shifters. Tranny has a max torque limit of 450Nm which is already where min is probably at so no more tuning. Manual should hold more. Sachs makes a clutch kit for 700Nm+ for this engine if you plan on going bonkers.
      Seats are really comfortable, seat heating takes a while to start heating probably because of full leather seats.
      Top speed around 210km/h, limit and all that crap, have to unrestrict it yet, at that speed RPM‘s are around 3.5k-4k. Revs to 5k so I guess without a limiter 250+ is doable.
      All in all, great daily driver, some sporty backroad driving can be done with some fun although not on All-Seasons 😅
