pedestrian airbag congress out from just under the windscreen. also, when parking it, you are supposed to press the brake when it tells you to stop
So they managed to crash it twice during this test...!? I know it's a Volvo but even so that takes the piss. Could have spent less time clowning around and instead telling us about the ride/handling/practicality etc.

I have the R Design in Rebel blue , these guys did not do it justice at all , I don’t know what kind of review this is , was more like taking it to local yobs and saying what do you think ? the front of mine is not boring.
It has the pedestrian sensors a camera
I don’t use the park assistance either.
But great to have the option.
Seats very comfortable (half suede half leather ) a lot of space in the car and boot .
I don’t have the flashy knob 🤔
Nav built in , I have the diesel is soooooo quiet!

I always get compliments on the car and asked why I choose to buy this car (Volvo v40 )
My reply always same Volvos are well built strong cars , it’s great on insurance.
And I don’t wanna have same car as everyone else ,
So not only is it reliable , good looking all the extras and I don’t have to have the same Astra as everyone else or if they think they being different the bmw 1 series. 😊.
How do you find the R design over bumps? Do you really feel them much?
@@fixfamily hey two years on I’m still in love my car.
The bumps I do slow right down (if we are talking speed bumps) because of the low trim so yes it’s good over them . People always say how smooth the drive is . Do you have one what’s your experience with it?
When I initially got mine I was parking (slowly ) my front bumper hit the curb that’s when I realised how low so that’s why I learned very quickly to go slower

@@fixfamily I love how it handles corners and to be honest I have gotten a speeding ticket before haha 😂 it does alert me to speed cameras as well my bad it’s just so nice on the road you want to open it up. Not a problem. I think you will be happy with it. I am , never had any problems
Thats pretty dumb, the Auto Park function only controls the steering, the driver still operates the gears, throttle and the brake, so backing into a car like that is completely the "drivers" fault, and if he cant even reverse a car, equipped with parking sensors, what the hell is he doing presenting a show dedicated to cars?? lame...

How is it a rival against a focus when ford own Volvo and the V40 is a focus chassis.? I have the v50 r design, love it to bits, because of its handling, due to that amazing focus chassis.
How's the transmission CVT. Has it got any better or is still crap.
Volvo is an amazing car
the pedestrian airbag comes through the hinged area of the hood to protect the pedestrian from hitting "the windscreen", but it pushes the "bonnet" into them at the same time. lol
i consider this as a bonnet to the face for the pedestrian, and extra protection for the passengers.
Maybe if it fires hard enough, it'll fling the pedestrian out of the way and you can just keep on driving :-P

i agree this isn't the type of in depth reviews we used to see, this should be called "team opinions" or "team and test" something like that that doesn't translate to review cuz this isn't the one we all prefer but still like it nonetheless

They reviews might be very subjective but cleverly, their videos are fulfilled with these ridiculous stuffs that they do (in a good way tho) and how low profile they are which made every video looks qualified.

It actually works really well... ...if a) they knew anything about the car before driving see 1:16 and b) they read the park assist manual, and c) didn't accelerate in reverse into a stationary object nullifying any of that as being in any way classified as 'parking'

1:16 "Well I think the airbag comes out there somewhere???" Could you be any more unprepared for a for a vehicle review if you tried? This information is freely available? Even direct from Volvo. I though the whole point of reviewing something was to offer your INFORMED critical analysis cased on core elements and professional knowledge in the field. One without the other leaves you 50% unprepared and this debacle unfolds.
Not to be mean but Tiff should never review conventional cars, in all honesty, none of these team tests, he gave a decent score to any normal, affordable cars. He is always the one scoring lowest for good cars and score high for odd and bad ones. Seriously.

Why is VBH constantly referred to as a a racing driver? I cannot find any info on her racing career beside some carting stuff. Well connected and the correct chromosome but her driving is at best mediocre.

Park assist? yet another driver aid to help produce a generation of inadquacy and dangerous drivers. Anyone who is not capable of parking their own vehicle has no right to a driving licence.
Actually parking cars has become increasingly more difficult through out the years. Visibility is worse because of safety requirements (thicker pilars) and the cars are larger. Since most parking spaces are made for cars from the 70s there is a lot less space. Turning radiuses are also worse these days. Also cars used to have bumpers for a reason. A small touch could be buffed out. Now days it can crack a plastic "bumper".
That's why companies are introducing devices like this. I'd much rather prefer people having these devices instead of damaging my car.

Absolutely horrible review, as a potential buyer of a car, I don't want to know how fast my car can be parked when bullocking around, but literally all other aspects of the car.
Mates,please stop comparing every single car on the market with BMW..,we are getting really tired of it.. Try some Toyota Auris,Mazda 3,Opel Astra,Hyundai I30..i mean really,the world is not BMW. And my personal opinion is that the 1 series close to that Volvo looks like a ugly Frankenstein pig!! And one question..how many people you see on your daily driving going sideways to work or to the market?? Thank you

+1100HondaCB This dieselengine is an Euro6 - heard about it? Its not a 5 and fixed like VW.
+1100HondaCB It's relevant for Scandinavia. Diesel is at €1,20 per liter, and the V40 D2 uses 0,34L/10 km which is extremely cheap.
Not compared to the US tho.
