    Thanks for that update ...after a serious accident in my new V40 where the car was a right off I managed to get out of the car and walk away....I think that says it all .....thank you Volvo ....for all the safety gear... my decision as to what car to have next was made very easy....

    This video was fun to watch. I have one from 2013. Honestly, who would have thought this model would stay up to date and relevant for as long as it had. It is nice that half a decade later this is still (in my opinion) one of the best looking cars in its class, still feels kinda fresh and yet another new updated version is released.

      Do you still have the V40 mate? And how's the reliability? I'm thinking of getting my hands on a used Volvo, thanks!

    Its old? I remember when cars had a 7 year cycle with a facelift half way through... so really its a normal model lifespan.
    Changing models too frequently just pisses me off.

    I bought one of these for my wife, who is often taking my son around. The amazing safety of this car is why I got it. I drive it occasionally, and find it very comfortable to drive. My only criticism is that it is a quite small inside, but the safety trumps any of the down points.

    Recently bought an Inscription 2017 V40 D3 with 30000 miles. What can I say, after a lifetime of driving Volvos and VW s ?, This is a standout car in every aspect from performance, fuel consumption, and safety equipment. Cabin comfort includes Leather effect heated seats and voice-activated SAT NAV. It is so solidly built and makes driving in an overcrowded South East England, an absolute pleasure.

    I'm watching this in June 2024, where I just bought a used 2017 Cross Country T3 Momentum with only 12.650 miles. To me, it still has everything that the latest cars can offer, I definitely don't need more hi-tech than that, and its looks are still very beautiful and modern. I am very happy with my purchase.

    Just bought a 2015 V40 D3 for my wife. I knew Volvo made their name for quality comfort and clever styling, but I'm blown away how much car you get for the money with a V40. I can see why people choose them over Mercedes Audi or BMW. Those things are a rip off in comparison.

    So I am in the middle of buying a 2018 V40 T4 here in 2019. Because there isn't a 2019 V40. I love how this guy talks about 'the new V40' like it's been on display. It hasn't. By all signs, there isn't going to be one, but perhaps an even smaller SUV than the XC40. That's what the buzz is right now at least. So it's not a question of waiting for the next one for me at least.

    My wife bought a T3 last year after cross shopping a Hyundai i30 and a Subaru Impreza. I'm sold on it. It feels so much more solid than the others and the interior, especially the dash is in another league, classy not chintzy. And it was cheaper.

    • @carsguide
      @carsguide  6 лет назад

      Thanks Glenn. As for the S60/V60, let me get back to you. I did test the T5 and T6 a few years ago when the most major update was made to the car and I have to say the quality, ride, handling and performance was excellent. Age is rapidly catching up on it though with the screen and tech inside now falling behind the BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 and Benz C-Class. But even still it looks great inside and out. Thanks mate. Enjoyed this review, yes it's an old design now, but still has a charm of it's own, at the end of the day it's a compact car, so you will have some problems space wise, so if space is a big issue for you, simply buy a V60.

    • @carsguide

    New mini SUV Volvo V40 is not going to be out until 2020 according to the dealership. So you will be able to buy one of these in 2019 (Like I am) and it's been tweaked again for the 2019 car with simplified Trims (Now only 3) lots of extra's chucked in and only 3 kit packs (Winter pack etc). I believe they have also tweaked the suspension again and improving it.

    Really sad that Volvo hasn't updated the V40 yet. Its one of the most attractive and affordable cars of their range.
