😀 A BIT ABOUT US:
We’re Marianne & Chris, a happily married couple from the UK. Marianne is a living kidney donor to her best friend, and realising that life was for living and never really knowing what’s round the corner - we decided to fulfil our dream of travelling full time.
So in March 2018 after the kids had left home, we sold our belongings, rented our house and moved into our campervan called Trudy. We set off to see the world and after vanlifing around Ireland and Europe, we grabbed our backpacks and spent 5 months exploring Central America.
Feeling like we needed a challenge, we planned the ultimate van life adventure! In Jan 2020 set off to drive around the World from UK to UK. But after arriving in Turkey, covid caught up with us and closed the borders, so we had a wonderful 18 months exploring this special country. Realising we were not going to be able to head further East, we decided to do a handbrake turn and go the other way and shipped our van to the USA.
We hope you enjoy coming with us, and we’ll continue to share our real adventures and hope you feel inspire to step out of your comfort zone and try something new.
Well what a day that was - I think Marianne is still shocked !!! How many of you watched breaking bad and did you enjoy it. - Any series recommendations for the festive period - let us know below - C&M x
Boardwalk Empire, or Ozark.
I also recommend Ozark it is a great series. Homeland, Stranger Things, Schitts Creek are other series I have enjoyed watching!
I LOVE Breaking Bad! I took a cross country road trip from Florida to California, partially on Route 66. Being a BB fan, Albuquerque was a must! Don't feel bad about the woman giving you the finger. They aren't known for being friendly to fans of the show. Too bad you couldn't actually get into the car wash because they have a whole BB souvenir section. I had my car washed there and they didn't do a great job for what they charge.
I hope you go to Winslow, AZ to "Stand On The Corner" and to go to the meteor crater not too far away. It's absolutely amazing, and there's not another one like it in the world. Safe travels!
The lady was just letting you guys know that you're #1. lol ;) You haven't had the full American experience until you've been flipped the bird. It's customary to return the favor with a double flip. haha
Thanks for your response 👍🏼safe travels.
That was a quick trip through New Mexico. I am surprised you didn't spend more time in Santa Fe. So many cool restaurants, museums and art galleries. The whole downtown core is adobe and is one of the most unique towns in the country.
I heard the fence is there because people were driving by and throwing pizzas on the roof. 😅
Hello Ambassadors
I love those movie clips you embedded in the video. That is really great. Brought all those memories back. Thank you👍👍👍 I loved the local history very much.
Thanks for sharing them
Love from the family and Florida💕💕💕🇹🇷🇹🇷🇹🇷
I’ve been from Tucson to Tucumcari, Tehachapi to Tonopah. Driven every kind of rig that’s ever been made. Driven the back roads so I wouldn’t get weighed.
And I'm still... Willin
ah, we were treading common ground again! Santa Fe, Albuquerque, Gallup with the El Rancho Hotel etc. I loved it there
There's a song by "Goodnight, Texas" called Tucumcari that fits that area very well. I believe the town name is pronounced "Two Come Carry".
Great video, El Rancho restaurant was amazing! Had to click on that thumbnail! ☺️🫣😁Love you guys ☮️❤️😎
I've got an idea. If you don't want a lot of passerby fans driving by your home, perhaps it wouldn't be a good idea to either rent out your home to a TV show to shoot at or buy a home that was featured in a popular TV show. Just a kooky idea.
I just love you two and your enthusiasm keep on smiling !!
Looks like Mary Ann just experienced some of that genuine personality here in the American West! It doesn't happen often, but it certainly can be very common around here....especially here in Texas. There is what people THINK and what actually IS. Like I say, it isn't totally common, but it does happen fairly often. It takes a certain finesse to deal with folks out here in the middle. Tough crowd!
I've eaten in the diner in the video. Been on I-40 a number of times on long road trips.
Loved your thumbnail. Had a good chuckle. No idea of the break bad series. Possibly when I was living in the back blocks, no TV. Keep on finding wonders to share. Thank you!
Breaking Bad, probably one of the greatest tv series out here, highly recomendable!
Merry Christmas and a Happy and Healthy 2023 to you - thank you for sharing from Australia. 28:37
Thank you so much Veronice - We wish you and yours the same 🙌💕🌷
Love New Mexico; lived there for 2 years. Also a huge Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul fan. The Breaking Bad tour is awesome
If you're going all the way on Rout 66 you have to stop at the Oatman ghost town where you can feed the wild burros. It's an amazing drive and good camping outside of town.
Her flicking the finger kind of fits in with the whole Breaking Bad tour lol. A little rude of her still. Such a neat tour! Thanks! It was a good series.
Ikr? very much in the spirit of the show. haha I can only imagine tho she probably gets visitors day & night daily & I'm sure not all of the fans are as nice as Marianne & Chris. They probably go on her property to take pics & maybe trespass.
I'm still flued up in bed enjoying your videos+++
Get well soon !
Thanks for taking us along for the ride, really enjoying your adventures....
Ok the thumbnail was a bit confusing, but after viewing the post I completely understand, and found it hilarious and could relate that I have watched the series.
We are just loving following your trek across America. Watching each episode with a smile on our face. Thanks for taking us along.
Kev & Tracey
My favorite version of the song 🎶 “Get Your Kicks on Route 66” is by Glenn Frey. He’s a legend… gone too soon. Merry Christmas 🎄
I bet you get a fair bit of attention with that right hand drive English camper an in the US. you are both living my dream of a road trip across America.happy travels 😊
I've never thought of Mexico as being cold! Most of the movies I watch show it as extremely hot and dry! Enjoy the rest of your trip.
Some of the buildings in Tucumcari are looking like they are from the movie CARS 😍
Another great video - thankyou guys!! Marianne you got the last laugh with that lady, cause this video has gone world wide and now everyone will go there just to see her hahaha!!
Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul were my favorite shows. Wonderfully written and acted! Thanks for adding this! and thanks for sharing your Vlogs are great!!!
Fun! I was in Santa Fe today, having driven over from Taos!
Very cool!
Loved seeing the Breaking Bad locations. Such a brilliant show. I’d love to meet Vince Gilligan and thank him for making such an amazing show.
Hello my friends it’s Wednesday December 20 and I have to say another epic video thank you my friends stay heavenly safe blessed 🙏🏾🦋♥️
Fun video!!👍🏻👍🏻
The owners of the Walter White House hate all of the traffic by their house. They had to put up the fence because so many people were actually trespassing and throwing pizzas on the roof
Wishing you guys and your loved ones a great Holiday season and a spectacular 2023..
Merry Christmas 🌲😁
I love following along with these videos. I broke down prior to Grants NM and did some regrouping there. Nice people there who were very helpful. I limped my RV from Gallop to Albuquerque on the 40! As Maryanne would say, “it was mad”!!!
Merry Christmas to you both and your family, just getting this In now before I'm too blotto later!!
LOL - have a fabulous one ... And we send big hugs for a happy / healthy one !! Woo Hoo
That thumbnail just reminds breaking bad pilot :)) 👌appy new year and stay blessed ! Greetings from Turkey 🇹🇷🙂
Loved this episode. Im a Breaking Bad fan too. Awesome thumbnail, and brave hehe. I may avoid visiting Walter’s house though if that’s the reception you get. Keep up the great work.
Great video! They don't call New Mexico "The Land of Enchantment" for nothing, love it! Stay safe.
You said it perfectly. I've stayed there 4 times and never noticed it was on route 66. Actually it was about 40 years ago, and wouldn't have known route 66 from any other route.
Wow, the El Rancho is gorgeous! Walking through the door is like stepping back in time. Still annoyed the people living in Walter White's house were so rude to you. I'm very glad Arizona redeemed itself with the hot air balloon lady waving so enthusiastically! 🤗 ❤️❤️😎👍xx
It is a really special place - and you nailed it - a real blast from the past !! Yep Chris is shocked that she has not rented the house out to someone to do proper BB tours and bought a van to travel the world ... that is what we would do !! 😂👍
Breaking Bad fan here 😂 Amazing trip.
Thanks for showing us Route 66 l’ll never do it for myself . New Mexico looks a lot like South Australia and lm looking forward to your Australian adventures. What a rude woman ,giving you the finger , but what does she expect choosing to live in that house and covering it in decorations? Your pleasure in all that you see and do lifts my spirits. Thankyou both, and Trudy, for another wonderful episode. 🥇
Glad you guys got to spend more time in the Land of Enchantment. So far as the Breaking Bad house, the owners have had a lot of problems with "fans" being very disrespectful from trampling on their property (notice the new fence surrounding the house now) to actually throwing pizzas on their roof like Walter. The creator of the show, Vince Gilligan, actually has posted letters and messages begging people to be respectful of the homeowners and their property for years but it seems to no avail. While I can sympathize with them for being a bit salty I am sorry you guys got the bird.
Thanks for the wonderful opportunity to share in your adventures!
What a shame !! It usually is a few people ruining it for the rest ... We hope that she finds a way to live in peace .. and finds her happy as it must be miserable to be miserable all the time 🙄😰
As a 🚛 driver that typically travels through New Mexico, stunning scenery but horrible roads. Love following your adventures
Glad you like them!
Spectacular, amazing and fabulous ❤😂❤😂❤😂
that was a great vid. some of the roads were a bit iffy. the locations you went to was very interesting and informative. all the best for xmas. Luck after yourselves.
26:00 😆 I'm guessing this is a set up, but I'll bite 📊 Maybe they took a poll 😆
Great video guys, love your enthusiasm😄Marianne wonder if the woman who flipped you the bird was trying to stay in character of Walter White, I could see him doing that if someone drove by his house 🤣🤣🤣
Glad you are seeing the West and Route 66. I like Santa Rosa, NM and Grants, NM (We stayed in an RV park in Grants three times in the last 3 years especially when we moved to Arizona from Florida in 2020). I also enjoy all things NM and AZ.
Before Rt 66, there was the National Trail Road. Most of that is still drivable too but there is literally nothing much to see along the trail unlike Rt 66. National Trail Road was from Baltimore, MD to California and was 3,096 miles.
Hey guys Route 66 looks amazing the best part so far have fun thank you for sharing your video
Our pleasure!
Another great video loved the museum. we have watched every episode of Breaking Bad and Call Saul both brilliant shows.
Safe travels and a happy Christmas to you both 🎅
Yes, I'm A fan of Breaking Bad. Very good series! So, neat you got to see those sites!
That was great. Happy Christmas x
Love the thumbnail! 🤣🤣
Thanks Kevin !!
16:34 my name is Heisenberg 😂
Honestly I was surprised you pronounced Cuervo and Los Pollos correctly. I'm still giggling at how you pronounced squirrel from several posts back!! 😀😂 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Another great video..merry Christmas to you both xx
Amazing video - and best thumbnail to date! What a fun adventure to all the Breaking Bad sites - big fan here, can't wait to do the same tour!
It is the same reaction with the owners of the Goonie House in Astoria, OR. The owners want some privacy and get tired of everyone driving by with cameras. They should know this would happen, and they just have to live with it. I am sure they were paid handsomely by the movie company, and chose the money over the knowing people will constantly come by.
I agree - or rent it out to someone who will make a business of it !! They are coming to see the house - not her !! I understand if she was famous and she was being hounded (and a prisoner in her home) - but standing outside ??? Being rude ???
Absolutely loved this, one of our favourites! BB & BCS are just the best series ever made. We would’ve been in our element too going around all the famous locations, like a kid in a sweet shop 😂
That woman was just rude! I bet she wasn’t when she was taking the money for the rental! 💵💰She should move if it upsets her that much. Hub said he’d do paid tours around the house if he owned it 😂😂
Have a wonderful Christmas, wherever you are. Liz n Gray❣️🥰
Nah...that woman gave them something to talk about for days. The look on Marianne's' face would have been payment for her 😂😂 You just have to give her a double one back. It made all of their days.
it would have taken the same amount of energy to just wave back. I'm sure the owners get tired of people stopping in front of their home and wanting to take pictures. But all they did was drive by and wave. Totally rude to flip the bird.
Hello Friends what great adventure along the route 66 . . that happy lady made up for the welcoming at the end . . stay warm and safe happy trails 👣 take care ❤️🙋♀️🎄🎅☃️❄️🎁⛪️
Seems like you enjoyed your time in the land of entrapment. It is a beautiful place.
I thoroughly enjoyed everything about this episode 🎉 it was Bang on 🎉 well done 👏🏼
Have a lovely festive season
Sabrina🇫🇷🇬🇧
I’m really enjoying these Route 66 vlogs 🫶 That was very rude of her to flick the finger !! obv too much home brew in her 🤪lol… Hotel El Rancho looked absolutely stunning 👌
LOL - It certainly may have been too much home brew !!
Nice video 👍
BB was an amazing show
That woman was rude. They just waved. 🙄
Love from Türkiye! 👋
Hello Tread the globe 🌎love your trips around the world 🌎I dream I could live your adventure. Love breaking bad series missed it she is very salty. I would make money on tours she is not smart 😊Happy holidays. Keep smiling 😃
That ghost town looked like perfect rattlesnake country.
I was thinking of hantavirus in those rat-poop infested dumps.
@@SusansRoadLessTraveled True and the snakes like to hunt the rodents.
I'm a breaking bad better call Saul fan Whoohooo.
Love your show
Ps for a good laugh start watching Brooklyn 999
Thanks- glad you liked this episode - we really enjoyed looking for all the breaking bad spots
@@TREADtheglobe so fun. Btw its really nice to see people my age (over 18....) grabbing life by the hoohahs. Love it. Cheers!
Guys, your van has quite a disturbing rattle that sound very much like lower ball joint badly worn or strut top bearings gone. I'd advise you get it sorted ASAP.
Love the exploits BTW.
X
Thanks Gary - it is the steering block boot - we have ordered one and hope to get it sorted in our next destination ... it has been checked a few times and they say it is ok to drive - but should get replaced at some point - thanks for the message we appreciate it
Loved Breaking Bad. We watched for 2 rainy days on a stellplatz in Germany with very good free WiFi. Years ago. Thanks for your vlogs they are 👍 great
I just started watching your channel and was wondering where are you from, I see you drive on the right side of the van, have a safe journey
Hi David - we are from the UK (so is our van !!)
🤣🤣🤣 what a video! Recognized the BB scene on the spoiler but didn’t expect a full tour, super nice!! Thanks for this.
Seems you got the real BB experience with this middle finger, don’t mess with Walter White, a bit of his vibe was there!
I'm from the midwest & the temperature changes of the seasons are really hard on our roads. But the huge trucks actually do the damage to the weak spots created by the climate. So whenever possible I take the old highways. Far less traffic & generally smoother roads. Im older & when I was a child my parents took me the whole length of Rt.66. I remember wanting to stop & see all the Gila monsters - tourist traps. But we also saw the Grand Canyon & Ill never forget that. I only saw 1 episode of Breaking Bad. It did look interesting but I didn't renew my cable TV subscription & didnt see any more of it. Now I feel left out. (my library has all seasons on DVD to borrow, so I can catch up someday.)
We loved breaking bad , thought you would have done the white undies scene Chris ha ha x
You are both so brave to be doing such a trek. Have to catch up. ❤️👍😀
Thanks - it certainly is an extraordinary adventure - we are excited for 2023 too - lots going to happen and we will continue to drive / ship around the world to get home to the UK - woo hoo - Merry Christmas to you and yours xxx
@@TREADtheglobe Thank you soooo much. Merry and Happy Christmas to as well. Are you coming through the Las Vegas area ?
I live in the State. I’m so sorry you got flipped off by one of our residents. May God bless your trip, and may you enjoy yourselves as you continue along your way 😄
Thank you so much! We love New Mexico 🌷
Well, you're in the southwest now. You kind of raced across the NW where I live. You've skipped a lot of greatness. I hope you return in the spring. But your schedule may not allow it. March is still snow season around here and some high places don't open until June.
Some SW high points that may be on some itineraries... visit Bisbee, Kit Peak, Death Valley, Canyon de Chelle, Monument Valley, Mokey Dugway and Bears Ears, Escalante Staircase, Moab Park, Prescott AZ, Sedona, Lassen Volcano Park and so much more.
Wicked vlog both 👌🚐
There might be another reason that woman flipped the finger at you. She probably doesn’t like right hand drive vehicles and also thought Trudy looked like an ice cream van.
LOL
Loved BB!
Marianne you look like Shirley Temple with your curls . LOL. Classic.
Love being with you on this amazing journey though you both look tired so I hope you have something peaceful and nice organised for Christmas and you must miss your children.Whatever you decide to do I wish you both a Very Happy Peaceful and Healthy Christmas and even happier Peaceful and Prosperous New Year 2023.Love S .
Marianne it is a date and a half lol. Who would not love a ghost town. well done romantic Chris. Love you both. X .
Some lyrics from Little Feat's Willin' - "I've been from Tucson to Tucumcari
Tehachapi to Tonapah
Driven every kind of rig that's ever been made
Driven the back roads so I wouldn't get weighed
And if you give me weed, whites and wine
And you show me a sign
I'll be willin', to be movin'"
26:14 the best place to do a gallop poll 😂
Hey Marianne and Chris, thanks for showing off the Land of Enchantment in your journey on Route 66. If you Google the Legend of Tucumcari you’ll find a sweet description of how the town got its name and how to pronounce it. Chris did well after a few tries “two come carry.” BB put Albuquerque on more maps than had been the case before. I’d read that the owners of WW’s house have had enough of the tourists driving by-some evidently do want to throw a pizza up on their roof. But flicking off our dear Marianne? Low blow. Get with the BB curiosity seekers or move out and on. Yes, Chris, you do look like WW; you just have to get the amoral stare down. ❤
Awwwh yep we would have loved to catch up again !! What a fabulous state NM is - we are lucky to have visited twice 🌺🌷🙌
Yes it was about 2 or 3 years ago when ppl thro a pizza on there roof it was on twitter so i don't think they were two happy about that lol
You missed two great Breaking Bad stops. One was a candy shop in Old Town that actually made the blue meth for the show (it is just rock candy) you can buy little bags of the rock candy. The other was the restaurant the Dog House.
Havent watch the vlog yet- hoping you tossed a pizza on someone's roof while in New Mexico
Reminiscing eat himg you go in Russell's car museum we were there last year
I lived in Albuquerque for about 6 months. Waaay too hot.
It gets cold in the winter.
@@johncalloway5093 Eeuuww. Even worse. I am not a desert lover at all. I need trees. I LOVED Sandia Crest. So beautiful. Do you live in Albuquerque?
@@bevtrue6937 Not anymore. I did for a decade. I first lived on the east side, then the west. I know what you mean about needing trees. I'll soon be moving to the east side of the mountain. I'll be living near the top of the Manzanos. So I'll have plenty of wooded area to explore. Just gotta watch out for the mountain lions, bears, scorpions and rattle snakes. 😳
@@johncalloway5093 We have rattlesnakes in FL, also, but not the rest. Did see a bear once in the nat'l forest but pretty rare. Have been here since 1999. Much more reasonable cost of living here. (Retired now) I lived in CA for 10 years too. Loved it but too much $$.
Sandia crest is way cool and so is Santa Fe.
Perhaps she was fed up with all the pizza on the roof, and perhaps assumed the culprits were driving by to wave and mock her.
I've been from Tuscon to Tucumcari
Tehachapi to Tonapah
Driven every kind of rig that's ever been made
and you show me a sign
I'll be willin', to be movin' n

Best place to eat in Gallup is Jerry's.
