  • Me playing "Swipesy Cakewalk" by Scott Joplin & Arthur Marshall on a balcony with an exquisite view of the ocean by the harbor in a beautiful city while visiting my grandmother during Easter Holiday.
    While this video was recorded, I was in the middle of being sick with the Corona virus, (which I wasn't aware of at the time). I was tired, had back and neck pain and didn't feel like myself. Though I didn't suffer from a loss in taste, it felt pretty much like a normal fever.
    Recorded on the 17th of April in 2022 (day of upload) using a Zoom H1n microphone with no effects, a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge and an LG G5.

    HAHAH I love your deadpan expression. Did you take a peak at the keys underneath the sunglasses? :P
    Still really impressive that you didn't look at your hands too much. I don't think I could do that. (OK maybe I could but it's still really impressive). Great performance! One would definitely think you'd have a few more years of experience under your belt. Really nice bass too, with the rolled 10ths and added 5ths

    • @Tarzoq
      @Tarzoq  2 года назад +1

      That "deadpan" expression is usually how I look, but inside my mind fireworks are going off. I did look at the keys a few times, but I also enjoyed the beautiful view. I train to be able to play without looking at my hands, if I one day will be able to sight-read, which I am seeing a lot of progress with. I got all the 10ths and 5ths from listening to Tom Brier all the time.

    • @pjotrkolster
      @pjotrkolster 2 года назад

      @@Tarzoq yeah I should train my sight reading and blind playing too… when I play my expression is pretty apparent, but there are also things going on in my mind. Anyway, perhaps I should steal some of Tom’s vocabulary. :P

    Wonderful performance. Perfect speed too. As you get better and better please don’t think you need to race to the finish line. So many players fly through the pieces thinking it’s impressive but it really just sounds sloppy and they miss the subtlety and intricacies of Joplin’s rags. You have the magic touch.

    • @Tarzoq
      @Tarzoq  2 года назад +1

      Thank you so much! I definitely won't do that. :D
      I play what I feel to be most fitting, not what seems most impressive to others(I find no joy in that). The magic touch you mentioned I believe I got from listening to Tom Brier, I can't get enough of his performances.

      I guess that is where have different tastes. I love listening to him so much, I used to listen to regular EDM music thinking I was enjoying it but comparing that to how I enjoy ragtime now, EDM doesn't stand a chance.
