Pupils are equal, round, and reactive to light and accommodation (PERRLA)
This video is a short skills session on how to assess the eyes in your head to toe assessment. This information is important as abnormal findings may indicate damage to the cranial nerves, medication usage, or other pathological conditions.
I also share a story about when my patient had a "blown" pupil and how as an experienced nurse, there was something for me to learn about knowing my patient!

I love this video. It was very helpful to me. Also I appreciate very much when nurses acknowledge that we’re not perfect at retaining every single bit of information at all times and the fact that education is ongoing. Excellent video.
Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts!
Thank you so much! Starting my job as a RN in a nursing home and we get a lot of falls. This was a good nurseminder about eyes assessments. You have beautiful eyes by the way :)

😊
Nice, many thanks UK
Thank you 🙏
Mam ,i am little bit confused about charting pupil size whether we should document pupil size before constriction or after constricting to light
Both is what is recommend but most people chart only the post constriction size
Thank u
You are welcome
Thank you for the story + education! As someone who is starting my nursing education in November (I am currently a CCMA) these videos are very interesting and help me understand the complexity of my future job 😊 and the story was great because it shows that we all have something to learn sometimes, and being open to learning is key in healthcare! Thank you! ❤️🫶🏼
You have an amazing career ahead of you and I am happy to be on the journey with you
